2025 year in review

i've been drafting variants of this & it's kind of just a blog post at this point... my two art themes of the year are 1) books 2) printers' guild!!

artist books

i'm having a TON of fun making little books but it is forcing me to rethink my relationship to art fairs. i've been killing myself to make like five extremely effortful copies of a book and KLSDF it just feels like "i'm dying AND i have no stock??" is foolish... a mismatch in my production style vs output venue or something

i'm doing consignment & some gallery shows as an alternative.... but lmao i do want people to read my books!!! art fairs are such a great direct hit of "ohhh wait i GET it, you can see the rain" or "i love dirt also!!!" but we'll see!

seattle printers' guild

i was in the 1121 1st ave artist shop for the back half of the year, and slkdfds it was awesome. we were a few blocks off the market and i loved the little commute

tbh a sub theme is that a regular once-a-week activity with pals rules -- running the shop, picking up vegetables, park concerts, ceramics class... it is just so good to go outside and see friends for a little bit at a regular cadence

ANYWAY we started hosting workshops in the store space and also KSDLFJ calling ourselves the seattle printers' guild because you can do anything and no one will stop you i guess

it's been a lot of work but also so so so fun, we're losing the space next year but workshops will continue as long as morale lasts! and like, if we can get grants, etc.

yet another minecraft build! This was done in survival (as they all are) and I wish I could make some changes to the shape without massive work but w/e

it's like a wizard tower rn because the easiest way in is a nether portal in the center, but I'm working on a tunnel that comes out closer to the base of the mountain 👍
