Heartstopper Vol 4 review (Warning for minor spoilers, mention of mental health and self-harm) This was a rollercoaster... a 5 star hard-hitting, heart-throbbing ride from start to finish. Charlie and Nick have been together for a while now, it's no secret and they are getting more comfortable with one another and themselves. The first half is just pure joy as Charlie tries to express himself a little more. The second half will have you tearing up as Nick goes away on holiday and Charlie's mental health begins to decline. It hits hard, warnings for self-harm and eating disorders from this point on. I make it sound like it's horrific and depressing, but it's not, it was insightful, helpful, and understanding. I showed in such a loving way that help comes in all shapes and sizes and seeking help is no weakness. There were so many important lessons and feelings covered here. Representation of mental health, the LGBT+ community, healthy relationships, and acceptance was so fantastic. We need more of this. Favourite quote "But also knowing that sometimes people need more support than just one person can give. That's love, Darling" If you get a chance please read these graphic novels. Heartstopper is a LGBT+ graphic novel by Alice Oseman, it follows two teenage boys who find love and acceptance in each other. There's a range of LGBT+ characters in these novels from transgender to asexual.
