HELLOO I JUST NOTICED THIS APOLOGIES TT yes yes I'M A BIG FAN OF BOTH NOKTO AND ALFONS! They're both my no.1, it's nice to see someone else who likes them both too! I don't see them often either lmao

Hmm honestly I think theres quite a lot of similarities between them! It'll be long to list out but—

For one, if we're looking at the tropes on the surface, they're pretty similar! The sleazy frivolous playboy archetype. On the surface. Though if we look deeper, not exactly. Ngl, I feel like Alfons doesn't fit into any common archetypes i usually see.

From the motivations of their actions, may I even say they're quite opposing? While Alfons mainly does it for the sake of others, Nokto does it when it's considered 'useful' but thats another topic hihi.

Anyways, besides that, I think their characters share a core theme. "Running away from reality" in their own ways. Alfons does things like drowning himself in unhealthy stuff, drinking, smoking, sexual activities and lending his services to others partly to escape his own reality. To forget and not think, prioritizing things that brings pleasure. Nokto always avoided the source of his trauma, like how he always spends time away from the palace, creating a facade and lies to himself so he won't have to face his deeper problems, drowning himself in any works at all so no thoughts would come,running away from his twin out of guilt and fear, etc.

Then, there's also the way they both always deflected in facing genuine feelings. They both built this persona of being... 'Unserious' and claims to toy with others. When faced with the truth of their feelings, or the genuine feelings of someone they care about, they couldn't be honest and shifted it onto something else.

They're both 'liars' in some way. Nokto, we know he's already presented as such. He lies whenever it's convenient, but it's also a force of habit for him to be able to go on. Alfons, he also lied a lot especially when it's convenient for the other person. They're both people whose words you have to take with a grain of salt and don't take at face value.

Aaaaaah i just love the way that, even now, they're still unable to be fully upfront about what they mean and their feelings. I adore that part, and I think it's one of the reason thag makes them so interesting to me🥹 you have to pay attention to each words they says

There's also this part—they both don't really value their life and are self-deprecating (I dont have a type i swear). Alfons think his life has no value, and it wouldn't matter if he died because in the end nothing of him would remain. He doesn't care if he were to pass anyhow. Nokto also has an uncaring attitude with his life. He's willing to risk it if he thinks it'll benefit the kingdom in the bigger picture, and is willing to sacrifice his life if it's for the one he cares about. "If anyone has to die, it should be me" kind of thing. Also the way he's so... self deprecating eaksjsjwi he always put others above himself, believing he's less and unworthy (even though he's so amazing??). Basically while they dont actively seek death, they wouldn't care if it were to come. TT my babies

that lack of self value also leads to them willing to use their body for anything. Alfons is willing to use his own body as a tool for other's desire, putting aside whether he actually enjoyed it or not. Nokto would 'use' his if it'll give something in return, like informations or to simply charm them. We know Nokto doesn't actually feel pleasure from it, though. Fake womanizer-

And I believe there's a lot more to list out! Sorry for the long yap TT they're both such complex characters imo, ikevil has done really well on portraying Alfons' character. Nokto... sighh putting aside the way they mostly fumbled his writing in the sequel and events (atleast for me) he's a deep character and has so much aspects to explore. We know they're just lonely, good hearted people who's broken by their circumstances. I adore them both so much thats it🥹 thank youu for asking, I always love seeing more lovers of theirs!
