I think it sucks that you have to go to so many different kinds of doctor to take care of yourself. It's the 21st century. I should be able to go to a single office where they scan me with a big xerox machine and tell me what I'm allergic to and why my tummy hurts and if I have any cancer or cavities or if my glasses prescription has changed. And then I should get a sticker.

Your regular reminder that trickle-down economics is a cruel joke designed by the wealthy.

I was going to leave comments in the tags, but I decided this was important enough to put on main.
In college, my friend group collectively got into the SCA - Society for Creative Anachronism. They're the people who get really into medieval reenactment, the fighting and crafts and cooking, they have kings and queens and knights and events and a good percentage of them (but not all!) work or have worked at Ren Faires.
I am forever grateful my friends dragged me into that, because it was my first introduction to fandom in older adults. Middle-aged dorks. Elderly nerds. Absolutely as intense and weird and hilarious and fun as any fan in their teens or 20s. I started getting into fandom already knowing there was a road ahead for me as I got older, full of handmade costumes and late night movies and shelves of pewter dragon goblets and mixed-aged road trips to meet ups and conventions.
And it kills me that so many people don't know that sort of community even exists. On both sides, even! I went to Philcon a few years ago, which tends towards older fans, and an older woman I was talking to sadly told me that she thought fandom was dying out, because she never saw younger fans any more.
Over the past decade, there's been a really toxic movement towards keeping different ages strictly separated, both in and outside of fandom. There's this strong implication that if an older person wants to interact with a younger person, there is something inherently predatory about that.
Yeah, that attitude sucks. That drive towards separation and puritanism sucks. Declaring that younger people should have nothing to look forward to and that older people should stay separated and lonely sucks. It sucks and we are all worse for it.
Don't fear age. Don't put an age limit on having fun. Give yourself a damn future.
I ran across a Meetup group recently in a coffee shop for crafting women between the ages of 30 and 49. Why? Why feel the need to exclude women outside of this specific ae range? I'm 52. I could join them if I lied about my age. No one would guess that I'm 52. At the same time, screw them because they are clearly agist.
Delivered in discreet packaging my ass.
Ah, watch out You might get what you're after Burning down the house
Please mythic quest finale redux don’t take this from me. PLEASE
And they did. So add this to Sherlock for another show with a disappointing shit ending. Wish I hadn't finished either of them.
This. Just This.
I’m obsessed with Helly and Helena’s different walks.
tramell tillman on colbert talking about how his swedish accent was inspired by the golden girls ..... theres something about this thats so........... its like he escaped containment from a lab where they were trying to distil charisma down to its purest essence .....
honestly i think the marching band sequence was one of the most horrifying sequences in the whole episode.
this whole season has been milchick silently contemplating his place at lumon, particularly in regards to his race, and yet he is still pushing through even after abuse from kier "himself". he is still performing.
and frankly i don't think it's being taken as seriously as it should be by the audience!!!!!!
i get that that is partially because it is absurd and out there that lumon would have a whole marching band and partially because tramell tillman brought so much oomf to it (i still cannot believe that this is one of his first screen acting gigs - he is such a good actor). and also, it's meant to evoke the first season's dance sequence (but i also don't think that's taken as seriously as it should be by the audience soooo--- ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
but like — i felt a similar kind of horror watching the marching band sequence that i did watching get out and us. like. watch this black man in white gloves and a cane who has been consistently put down and othered for his race throughout this entire show, perform at the request of an automaton of the white man who very likely built his company on the backs of former slaves at the end of the civil war, whose company who still effectively employs slave labor and indentured servitude two hundred years in the future.
for milchick, this season began with lumon black face and ended with, effectively, a lumon minstrel show as someone else put it.
that is horrifying.
