I mean, in some very interesting Technically Correct ways, they didn't actually die? Now, they're very much no longer alive. But the forces involved are such that they didn't get any of the usual cellular processes of death, they simply went from biology to physics in less time than it takes a signal to travel down your optic nerve.

It's interesting how it used to be acceptable under the patriarchy to be a Man Of Letters, and how that has near-completely evaporated within my lifetime. Earlier this century, it was totally permissible for boys who didn't want to be football players or firefighters to aspire to become adultery-minded novelist English professors or hard-drinking gonzo journalists. But at some relatively recent point, the patriarchy decided that writing in general was weak and unserious and girly. I wasn't paying enough attention at the time to observe the when, why or how of this shift, but it's certainly fascinating to me.

Headcanon that because Data doesn't need to eat he really only uses the replicator in his quarters for spot's food so whenever someone replicates something she thinks it's for her. Geordi gets a cup of coffee in the morning and spot hears the replicator sound and just immediately runs up to him meowing

I miss when ads were a single click and then they’re gone. Now every ad has a minimum of three phases where you watch a video, exit the still frame of fake gameplay, and then exit the app download. That doesn’t even touch on the ones that forcibly take you to another app after opening a tab in safari without you ever touching the screen.

I hate advertising. I hate that you can’t do anything without companies jumping down your throat with mostly bullshit ads. I hate that billboards exist. I hate that every company unanimously decided to make their ads longer and longer. I hate that ad blockers try to charge you money and there are in app purchases to remove ads. I hate that my attention has become commodified. I hate that there’s nothing I can do about it.
