Ranger’s Apprentice and nicknames
- Will and Alyss mostly just call each other by their full name (since it’s already pretty short anyways). They’re not that big on nicknames, but Alyss will occassionally call Will “babe”, and Will does sometimes call her “‘Lyss”, which he has been doing since they were children. ironically, after they got married, Will slowly got in the habit of calling his wife “love”.
- Horace has taken after Duncan and calls his wife “Cassie”.
- Both call Maddie, well, “Maddie”, but Cassandra also tends to refer to her as “honey”, though only in private.
- Ingrid calls Maddie “Lynnie”, though.
- I’m pretty sure it’s canon that Pauline calls Halt “dear” and I’m pretty sure the same goes the other way around. they don’t really do so in public, unless it’s with friends. HOWEVER. they WILL. do it sometimes. especially if Pauline is getting fed up with people and wants to pull rank and at some point she’ll be like “isn’t that right, dear?” and everyone is super confused because who is she talking to??? and then a Ranger appears from the shadows, and someone whispers his name, “Halt”. 1 and 1 is 2. if this is THE Ranger Halt. then this must be THE lady Pauline. shit.
- TEY gang calls Crowley “Crow”.
- somehow, only Halt, Crowley, and Will call Gilan “Gil”.
- sometimes Horace will call George “G” just to mess with him. it’s a sign that the scribe needs to losen up a little.
- Jenny can and will wreck havoc on you if you don’t refer to her Jenny, but rather as “Jennifer”. she also isn’t too big a fan of “Jen”.
- Gilan has a seemingly neverending list of names that could be shortened to “Will”, so he’ll call Will any of those names but never his actual one.
- every Gathering, someone from TEY gang will call Halt a different verb that means the same thing. they do it so well, though, that Halt has never actually been able to figure out who it was that year.
