so after completing the game on my first playthru and eventually finding out Gale's personal quest beyond not wanting to blow up, i paid attention to his stats on new game

and lo and behold, Gale is very smart (intelligence) but also very dumb (wisdom)

Gale learns everything the hard way and sometimes not even then
