Incognis' bullet-point review of Assassin's Creed Unity (PC)
Let's start short and sweet for people who don't enjoy my lengthy walls of text.
Impatient child-friendly summary:
______________________________________________________
What the game brings to the table:
1-4 player Co-op with a matchmaking system
An app for smartphones/Windows 8-10 that is used to unlock extra chest
Nostradamus eaglevision riddles
4 random generated civilian evens you can aid in frequently (Thieves, beggars, public executions, and strong-arm thugs)
Controlled descent parkour
Far more animations for subtle nuances and weapon type combat
Customizable mix and match clothing pieces and color swatches
Chest that unlock witch challenges on tiers
Bugs and crashes (Many being fixed as we speak)
A curious form of graphics optimization where max texture is no more impacting than minimum, hundreds of npcs make virtually no impact on FPS, but the game outright tanks when shadows, anisotropic filtering, or anti-aliasing is touched.
Serious demands on ram, HDD space, VRAM, and CPU
Lack of support for a ~majority~ of PC users when it comes to "minimum requirements"
Another protagonist who is on-par with Ezio in terms of likability, but doesn't get enough story to shine.
Strange draw distance issues and environmental fogs
NPC pop-ins even within immediate vicinity of your character!
Absolutely MASSIVE NPC crowds
Some pretty top notch clothing textures
Some of the more impressive environmental sounds, conversations, and subtle audio nuances that I've seen
The magestic environs of France.
Inner building environments to cut through or enter and infiltrate
A retuned and more difficult combat system and AI
Guns for every damn person in a suit....
More collectible stuff than you can shake a stick at.
16-18 co-op missions that can be played solo
About roughly a dozen brief side missions
A reboot-type story that stands alone and doesnt require ANY knowledge of the previous games as it has practically no ties to the older ones. (It's a spinoff that contributes NOTHING to the rich story of the AC Universe)
Decent voice acting as always
A huge arsenal of weapons
A RPGification where clothing and weapons contribute a sort of stats to your character
Skill points to learn you every day assassin moves at a more dragged out pace
Some clothes that make SENSE when stealth is concerned (Visually to blend in)
The ability to knock down enemies and kill the on the ground
tiered enemies with varying difficulty
Lockpicking mechanic which is BS
Line of site cover and detection (Crude stealth mechanic)
Microtransaction store to "Buy your way to not sucking because you don't want to invest time into a game you bought" you lazy ----s
A very basic Guild Mechanic which isn't fully utilized yet due to currently unavailable features.
a Heist type of mission (Each time you or teamates are detected, the reward decreases)

What the game takes away
Whistle-luring enemies to your cover to kill them (Replaced by a very clunky line of sight and cherry bomb mechanic
Those stylish robes Ezio wore. Apparently Ezio had better fashion taste than the French!
Plenty of story to help build character development and likability.
A longer more robust story that ties in the templars and their plot for domination via rare artifacts. (It was severely downplayed and felt more like a high school fanboy's writings)
The "National-Treasure"-esque plot in the modern world which lead to a more complex mystery and a more cryptic type of plot development
Desmond's crew or ANY ties to the modern world save for a single lady who talks to you like a headset narrator/tour conductor.
Any sort of "magic mcguffin" you chase after to beat the templars to and is later trivialized by a more elaborate plot.
The slightly faster paced combat of the older games
the camaraderie and idle chit chat scenes
A great majority of the humor (what little it presented)
The insane number of bombs you could make in the ezio trilogy
pickpocketing random people
the ability to fight with the assassins blade/blades
Double blades (Although there is still a lingering doublekill animation that suggest it.....wut..)
Infinite duration/duration eaglevision (Now has radius + cooldown)
Side story arcs with more personal cutscenes and character building
various zones to go to with stuff to do in each
Enemy ability to climb buildings and rooftops in most cases
That little aiming beam when lining up a shot
Variety of missions and events
any sense of unpredictability
Thieves and Warrior assistance
The ability to engage with the crowds of people (Seriously, you should be able to start riots and mayhem at some point of the game!)
Epic scenes like being dragged on a rope at the back of a carraige just to get the guy you are trying to kill (Seriously, its now like AC1 all over again and is lather rinse repeat)
Another big city sand-boxish world full of repetition which feels overall hollow if you have been a long time Assassin's creed player due to a lack of stand-apart variety from the previous titles.
A lack of explanation for how Arno knew parkour and fighting skills prior to his encounter with the assassin. (The training for 2 months thing made made nice sense and was well executed without being a chore)
Those crazy eagle vision based easter eggs and cryptic messages based off old real life mysteries and puzzles
last but not least, ANY "log out of the animus and do something in modern time events" You are now just a player being a player who is playing through to help some vague woman who represents an industry for data collection purposes...nothing is built upon that, nor is there any modern day templar plot AT ALL in the game.
