Then I made a second tumblr and loved it a whole lot but 35 minutes ago I was deleting a side blog and unintentionally deleted the entire blog, so here we are again! saw that post about how the tf2 meet the team videos have way more personality than the entire overwatch lore, and i prompted me to rewatch them all again, and dang that post is 100% correct.

Yes! And the main difference between the two franchises is that TF2 is aware of this, and Overwatch isn’t.

Overwatch tries to craft a dense epic to make people care about the world. And maybe they end up with a good story, maybe not. But the attitude is very limiting to a game that doesn’t need that sort of coherence.

Meanwhile, TF2 just goes “Hey, wouldn’t it be fun if this happens.”

Overwatch would say “No, we can’t have a wizard in the game,” while TF2 would say “Yes, and he’s roomates with Tom Jones!” Because, guess what, the game is just a bunch of people blowing each other up.
