🚫Ban The Fascists, Save The Books! 📖
Our world shall be more open and equal. All of us shall have the freedom to be ourselves and express our love. Marriage shall be accepted both socially and legally regardless of our gender.
Love is far beyond definition. It should not be restricted.
The law comes into effect today January 23, 2025

It's an open notes test and some dense motherfuckers still can't figure out the answers.
Are you a facilitator of evil?
In my humble opinion, I believe the answer to this question is YES for waaay more people than most would care to admit.
People who ordinarily (or otherwise) would be considered a "good person." BUT...
They stand back and refuse to get involved, because it makes them uncomfortable.
Or they intentionally wear blinders and pretend like something doesn't exist just because they aren't (personally) affected by it.
Basically they don't speak up!
By not speaking up they are not only siding (even if unintentionally) with the fascist, oppressor, bigot, racist-(or "insert example of evil here"), they are also betraying the people (their friends, family, neighbors) who literally have no other choice (because they are different in some way) but to stand up and fight and defend themselves. And let me tell you, that shit is EXHAUSTING!
Trying to do it alone while all your other "friends" or family are just talking about everything BUT, and la-la-la'ing through their (often privileged) days is absolutely exhausting and discouraging. Especially when their only excuse is something like..."well, I don't follow or get involved in politics," or, I don't choose sides, or (and I think this one gets to me the most) they do the whole "both sides" thing.😒
Last time I checked, human rights, equal rights, and the right to be able to just be yourself without...yanno, certain people screaming that you deserve to d*e because your skin color is different from their own, or because you are a loving, two mom or dad family trying to just live your lives happily together, is NOT political. Or at least it shouldn't be.
No matter how you try to shade it, SILENCE IS BETRAYAL!
In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends. -MLK, Jr.
Oh, and btw, I'm not trying to say everyone who doesn't speak up is a bad person. And I'm not saying it's the ONLY thing I think people should talk about or focus on.
I'm just saying that if more good people would speak up when the situation or circumstance calls for it, it would make a huge difference.
Or in general, occasionally make it a point to talk about/post about/blog about difficult (and sometimes, yes, uncomfortable) things, so that the people in your life know for sure where you stand. Let others know you support them and that you'll have their back if needed.
More people need to make a clear stand against evil and then maybe the world wouldn't seem like such a dark place for those of us who have no choice but to defend ourselves. We'll stand alone, but imagine the impact if we didn't have to.
Unfortunately, this is still timely. Perhaps more so now than ever with the way things are going. I've been screaming warnings from the rooftops and seemingly into the void for years. Since long before I first posted this, about what it means to make a stand even when it's not easy or comfortable and about how to be a good ally.
It's been a long, lonely road, trying to warn others of where we were headed as a country. Even as more and more extreme right-wing regimes were rising up in this country and around the world, it felt like far too many people were unwilling to make a stand or even admit to themselves and others where we were obviously headed. Far too many people have put on blinders and refuse to see things for how they really are. And still... I never backed down. I refused to ignore the warnings, the signs, even when it wasn't easy or comfortable, even when it meant I had to stand alone.
I've been betrayed by "friends." I've dealt with thinly-veiled (and not so thinly-veiled) threats and abuse from strangers, and I've been called every name in the book:
an alarmist, a fearmonger, a libt*rd, a snowflake, a p*do, a liar, a n* - lover, "just an angry gay woman," and perhaps my personal favorite... "a Disparager of Christian Wh*te Men," even though I am the daughter of a Christian wh*te man and was raised a Baptist church girl (that's a story for another time), and too many other ignorant, nasty names to count, and yet, here I am... still speaking up and making my stand. And I will never back down.
It may not always be easy or comfortable but at least I know I'm doing the right thing by not being a facilitator of evil. Can you say the same thing?
