Many of you know Ant @enbyliam and Valo @liamlm. They are both wonderful people and engaged but currently living in different countries. We are hoping to raise funds for Ant’s plane ticket as well as the legal documents to get married and gain citizenship in Finland with Valo.

HELP WITH MEDICAL BILLS

In March of 2019 on the way to visit my Mom for Spring Break, I was in a car accident that ending up totaling my car. 

Additionally, I had severe neck pain so I went to the emergency room to make sure I hadn’t damaged anything major. 

Luckily I only had severe whiplash. At the time I did not receive any bill, but knew that my auto insurance was going to be billed for the visit. Later, in Early December I got a $500 bill in the mail. Apparently my auto insurance covered all of the expenses except for $500. 

This bill was unexpected and has become an extreme financial burden, especially at this time of year. My utility bills have been higher due to cold weather, and I am missing out on pay from work because we are closed for a week for the holidays during which I won’t get paid. The bill is due on January 4th, so I have to make some kind of payment by then. I am a recent college grad working in food service and I already have a significant amount of debt from college, transitioning (I’m trans) and as a result of being poor my whole life. I hate asking for help, but I don’t really know what else to do, because I feel like debt is suffocating me.

Like I know art is inherently an attempt to make others understand what is going on inside our lonely little heads but sometimes the mortifying ordeal of being known just slips in there while you’re not looking

the most jarring thing my dad has ever told me is that we’re the new 60’s

when i asked him what he meant he said that he remembered being a kid in the 60’s, he remembered the long hair and the sex and the push against an older, less tolerant generation for freedom. he was born in 1955 so he wasn’t intimately involved in the progressiveness of it but he said he remembered always understanding the younger generation because they spoke to children like him, children that were being raised in restrictive households that were more prone to rebellion. flash forward to our generation and he’s floored, he’s shocked and a little bit scared because he sees the same passion in us, the same struggle and desire for change but this time he’s the older generation. we’re the new 60’s and he’s the establishment we’re trying to change. and it just strikes me how circular this world is, and how every once in a while a certain generation comes around with their radical, progressive agenda. and one day we’re going to wake up in the future and find ourselves face-to-face with a younger, more progressive generation and we’re going to have to decide if we’re still with them or if we’re the new establishment they’re fighting against

hi people think that it’s a feminist masterpiece because art is subjective but im here to link to the full interview where she talks with Diablo Cody (the film’s writer) about the film, including how she thinks it was an excellent film (“it’s my favorite thing I’ve ever done”) that she’s very proud of (“I don’t think anyone could have played the role as well as I did at that time”), how she was hurt by the paparazzi and specifically how what hurt about the movie was not the film (“it was the perfect project”), but the male-centered marketing of the woman-written, woman-directed, women-starring film about an oversexualized woman using said oversexualization to get revenge on her male tormentors. Please don’t blame women’s art about womanhood for how it was seen by men.

the marketing team was comprised of men who refused to cooperate with karyn kusama and diablo cody, refused to see and understand the movie’s themes and message, and insisted on a sexualized marketing strategy with men as the target audience despite the movie being made by women and for young girls. in response to an email from kusama and cody concerned about the marketing strategy, a member of the marketing team said just said “jennifer sexy, she steal your boyfriend”. understand that jennifer’s body is first and foremost a piece of women’s media, and then decide how you want to go about criticizing it.

Wow.
