Running into this on my dash was like running into an old friend
Thats just what theater kids are like
What Iâve always loved about this bit is
a. this musical number comes completely out of nowhere, with no greater context than what this video captures; and
b. the language instructor clearly canât hear the music. Heâs not from Musical Theatre Land. From his perspective, a couple of twinkle-toed weirdos just randomly decided to physically abuse him for three solid minutes. This isnât reading anything thatâs not intended into the scene â itâs literally the central gag.
@thebibliosphere in case you need some ridiculous Singinâ in the Rain on your dash.
(P.S. I imagined you making the faces at the instructor and it was hilarious)
I can but aspire to the level of expressiveness Cosmo Brown has with his face.
I miss the time where movies would include a random tapdancing sequence
Oat milk was discovered much more recently than you may have known. Like many now-familiar technologies, it was found by accident during the Apollo program when NASA learned what a zero-g environment does to goat milk.

Came across this art installation, Liza Lou's Kitchen, at the Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC. It's a kitchen made of tiny glass beads, that artist Liza Lou did, taking 5 yrs. to complete, from 1991 - 1996.
My favorite part is the sink.

It breaks my heart to meet folks with who we share a lot but to see them deep into the despair and hopelessness I spend so much effort resisting and fighting against. To hear the exact same sentence I repeated for years about how they don't know how to hold on if they're not angry because anger is the only thing keeping them from drowning entirely and to realise that I defanged my own anger along the way because it was eating at me bit by bit.
My anger was destroying me but it kept me alive. It felt easier to be angry at the whole world, that way when you've antagonised everyone around you you can put the blame on them for not being as angry as you are. How dare they not run on anger when the world is being destroyed right in front of us?
But you can't outrun your pain forever, even when you're fuled by the strongest rage. It catches up and what once allowed you to run left you scarred, hollow, with nothing left to live for.
I don't want to die.
I refuse to give satisfaction to the powers that want people like me dead in a ditch.
I want to choose kindness.
I want to choose trust in my brethren, in community and collective support.
I want to choose hope.
And yet I'm so fucking scared.
What if I'm wrong?
What I'm just a naive kid playing make believe and everything they say is true?
What if there actually is no other way but to blow it all up and hope for the best?
I don't want to die
I can't die
I have people who rely on me, who will inherit whatever planet and society we will leave them.
I owe it to them.
I owe it to them
I can't give in
I can't give up
This is easily one of the CRAZIEST videos I've ever gotten. I was rafting down a river when a Yellow Jacket came, landed on my bright pink waterproof phone pouch, and started drinking from the water droplets that had gathered there.
The most amazing part is how the water droplet magnifies the Hornet's mouth parts, so you get to see them up-close!!!! It was FASCINATING to witness!
Here's some of my favorite still shots from that video:
What do you think? đ„°
i love that maned wolf pups also do the canine thing where they feet too big for their got damn they, but because they also have the long ass legs they end up looking way more normally proportioned than the adults. like this:
like those are regular wolf proportions
Last year, I befriended a Catholic seminarian. We've gotten to be pretty decent friends. Seeing as he was staying in town for the summer and I wasn't, I entrusted him with caring for my plant.
He did a wonderful job, but as he was returning my plant to my custody, he explained "I watered her every other day, I gave her new dirt, moved her into the sunshine, prayed the rosary-"
"What?"
He looked at me, confused. "Isn't she a plant you pray with?"
"No," I said slowly. "She's a prayer plant. That's the... colloquial name of the plant."
Upon seeing his stricken face, I realized something went wrong. Turns out, this entire time, he's been including my plant in on his prayers and leaving her near icons.
Listen, totally cool. My plant becoming Catholic is a great deal for her not dying over the summer. But now I must navigate this interfaith household. Keep me in your thoughts.
