“you say that as if i’m not used to ollivander and his tendency to tuck tail and run when things get tough? and yours is to pout and sulk like a teenage girl who didn’t get concert tickets.” she audibly gulped as he stepped back, taking a deep breath as she tried to control herself and her quick temper. “oh you’re right, nuns don’t fuck the love of their cousin’s life. guess rah and i have that in common now.” she ignored his last comment, instead settling back into the chair where she’d been working in before. “go find eleanor and grovel at her feet like the stupid lovesick puppy that you are. don’t worry reid, i didn’t see you today, can’t have your prospects with the princess diminished because you were with me.”

his hand was on the door, partially pushed open when his feet stalled. he knew it was best to walk away but he knew the second he walked out he’d be forced to face reality again. and despite the fact that she was utterly infuriating, bridget was a great distraction. so instead of walking away, he let the door fall closed again and turned to her. “ i’m not some stupid lovesick puppy... and i sure as hell don’t grovel. feel free to tell her if you want, ” he said, despite that being the absolute last thing he wanted. he was already at a point he wasn’t sure he could come back from, though, so what was one more meeting? “ it’s not like she could be any more mad at me, anyway. what’re you gonna say? ‘hi, rah -- i just wanted to let you know, reid came over to the studio and yelled at me for being a little brat’? i’m t e r r i f i e d. ”

Olivia glanced up when she finally caught Reid finally walking into the bar, the same usual expression on his face, he seemed to be wearing it more and more these days. Taking another small sip and smiling softly at him. “Rough day?” She asked with a chuckle, trying her best to keep the softness and kindness in her voice, like she always did when she spoke with him. She laughed gently and held out her smooth hands, admittedly it had been more than a photo of her hands but she wasn’t about to admit that to anyone especially Reid. “See, definitely worth 10k. We really should cheers to him, because he’s paying for tonight.”

a small smile fell on his face and he chuckled, shaking his head. “ rough week, ” he said, “ but i’d much rather drink than get into it. ” he took his hand in hers and looked at it, a skeptical look coming on his face. “ ten k, ” he mused and set her hand down, shaking his head. “ some people have way too much money. great for us, considering it’s paying for our drinks...but still. ” the things he could do with that kind of money - it was a ridiculous sum. he raised his glass. “ cheers to the man with too much money. ”

“page 645, question 9, subset d. if you really wanna have a go at it i’m not gonna stop you — you’re not gonna be able to solve it, that much i know — but it seems like an excessive amount of trouble to put yourself through just because you let something slip up.” letting out a short laugh, she slid her notes over to him, too, just in case he really did want to have at it. “why so deflective anyway - just makes it seem like it’s a bigger deal than it already is, you get me? if you really want … whatever the fuck it is to stay a secret you probably shouldn’t bring it up in casual conversation - i mean, unless you’re really keen on doing all that extra spin doctor-bullshit i’m sure is needed to cover your tracks.”

reid flipped pages until he got to the page, eyes grazing over the question. he couldn’t even begin to understand the equation even if it was correct, but it was much better than having to talk about his love life. he rested his hand over her notes and pulled them closer to him, feigning interest in the problem. “ it’s nothing, ” he said, looking at her. “ it’s not like we talk about that kinda stuff, anyway. we talk equations, sterling. and most people would’ve stuck on the whole ‘i’ll be your wingman’ thing versus the ‘sorry, i can’t sleep with you’ thing. i just forgot you weren’t a normal human, that was my bad. ”

nora didn’t know exactly what she’d anticipated when taking the seat next to reid, but this certainly wasn’t it. “your words, not mine,” was all she offered in the way of an answer, the mere presence of him enough to almost make her forget they were still in public. leaning her forehead cautiously against his, she fell silent - weighing the pros and cons of what she was about to do next against each other - before letting out an almost inaudible whisper: “ah, fuck it.” and with that, she pressed her lips against his.

reid was surprised she was actually letting this happen, actually letting him get this close... and in public no less. even when they were actually involved she hadn’t allowed that. he wasn’t going to let the opportunity slip by, though. for the first time since she’d walked away, things didn’t feel so absurdly off-kilter. he immediately returned her kiss and resisted the urge to pull her into his lap. he was already pushing his limits with her. his fingers tangled into her hair as he deepened the kiss, carefully moving closer to her.

“ollivander always was possessive of his toys,” jai hummed. “understandable why though, bridget… she’s something that one. very fun, right?” if he was honest he didn’t really care much for the girl, but he did love the little tape they made, and he definitely couldn’t wait to show ollie.  “not a plan so much as a goal, hurt octavia. simple. she’s toxic, your sister needs better taste mate.”

reid’s eyes narrowed at the other at his comment regarding bridget. he sensed that there was something very personal in the action, far more than a drunken night together. he leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms as he looked at the other. the mention to his sister was like a splash of cold water in the morning, a harsh reminder that ruining octavia would have a direct impact on his sister. even if she didn’t remember the way she felt about octavia right now, he couldn’t bring himself to ruin things between them. he knew how they felt about each other before the amnesia and he hoped she’d remember one day. he didn’t want octavia to be long gone when that happened as a result of his actions, no matter how he felt about her. “ yeah, about that, ” he said. he wrapped his hands around his coffee cup and stood up. “ i think you might need to find someone else to help you achieve your goal. ”

Olivia sat in the far corner of the familiar, slightly dingy bar, tapping her fingers on the scratched and stained wooden table, making a mental note to point out that their tables could use a polish as she waited for Reid to arrive. He wasn’t the usual sort of person that Olivia associated herself with but he was a means to an end, it all began when he drunkenly began talking about Lyss and Olivia saw her opportunity; get him drunk and all the feelings and secrets come pouring out and if there was one thing Olivia always loved, it was a good secret especially if she could use it to her advantage later, and all she saw with Lyss was opportunity especially since the girl lost her memory. Taking a small sip of the gin and tonic that sat in front of her, letting out an annoyed sighed as she waited impatiently for him to finally arrive.

reid was admittedly more frustrated than he let on, but a drink or two always seemed to dissolve the tension in his shoulders. though, with the tension he’d been carrying lately, he’d need more than a couple of drinks to alleviate the issue. he pushed the door to the bar open and made his way to the bar, grabbing a drink before sitting across from olivia. “ ten grand for a photo of your hands, ” he started before reaching his free hand out, gesturing her to show him. “ i’ve gotta see what ten grand hands look like. ” he lifted his drink, taking a sip as he waited for the reveal.

“oh you let him how generous of you,” she huffed, voice softening for a mere second as she continued. “i’m not his property, you didn’t deserve that punch.” she found herself bristling again as he laughed at her, he’d be on the ground in seconds flat if she really wanted to lay him out, not that he needed to be aware of that little tidbit. grinning as she hit her desired mark bridget fought to not let a whimper out as he forced her back, she was always a little weak for being tossed around. “is that meant to hurt me? ohi’m easy, bridget the slag! be more fucking original reid. as if i care.” she rested her head against the wall as she let out a peal of laughter, “get off me reid. your type is clearly nun-like and rudeness to cover insecurities and mine is anything but you right now. get out.”

she really didn’t understand. it had nothing to do with whether or not she was ollie’s property but rather the fact that reid knew very well how ollie felt about her going into it. it was the fact that reid could’ve gone for anyone but instead went for someone ollie actually cared about. it was one of the few things holding him back from completely and utterly losing it on her right there. “ it’s not my fault you’ve gotta find comfort in the arms of someone else because the man you really care about would rather flee the country than talk to you, ” he said, his finger tracing her jawline. he stepped back and lowered his hand, a satisfied smirk on his lips. she wouldn’t be telling him to get out if he hadn’t truly hit her where it hurt. “ she’s no nun, ” he commented as he stepped toward the door. “ but i do think you share using rudeness to cover your insecurities, love. ”

“more like you would, nothing like fucking your girlfriend’s cousin to loosen up right? you seem like you need it.” if he wanted to throw out jabs then she’d throw ones right back, and she didn’t care about going below the belt… in more ways than one. “clearly you don’t know your best friend as well as i do. you know how many times sebastian greene calls his son for help? and how many time he flat out said NO? he’s fucking running reid. get a grip. and call me a moron again and i’ll give you another black eye to match.” bridget was itching to lay a slap across his face for bringing dimitri into it, let alone guilting her by bringing up the fact that she couldn’t even manage to call out his name in the heat of things. “can you actually fuck off? how dare you bring my boyfriend into this,” she growled,  shoving at his chest. “just because nora doesn’t want you anymore doesn’t mean you can focus your stupid anger on me. you wanted me just as bad as i wanted you.”

“ okay - first of all, not my girlfriend, ” he replied. not that that little tidbit made things any easier. bridget knew just how complicated relationships could get, she was involved with ollie after all. their relationship was far more complicated than his and nora’s. he looked down at her, a frustrated sigh escaping his lips. he knew there was no winning this particular argument, mostly because he knew they were both right in some way. “ good luck with that. i let ollie hit me, ” his gaze flicked to her hands, “ did sort of deserve it and all. ” a smirk appeared on his face when he realized he’d actually gotten to her and a laugh escaped his lips at her shove, stepping back from her. “ why don’t you make me? ” he asked, quoting her earlier texts. the amusement on his face quickly wiped away at her next words and he pressed her back into the nearest wall, the movement so similar the night they shared. “ you have no idea what i wanted, ” he replied, all humour in his voice gone. “ you could’ve been anyone. you were just so easy. ”
