Double drabble. Standalone, but for context consider reading The minutes pass and I’m left with a single task also.
Had another weird moment today almost exactly like the one I had for writing the original fic in this kinda pair thingy, so I wrote another one.
Looking for hopepunk fics (also optionally scifi), if you find any I'd love to know 🌟
A mysterious book. A nameless language. Telepathic abilities.
Ochako and Izumi end up accidentally linked telepathically with an unbreakable bond. They try to keep the secret while balancing understanding their own rapidly growing power, but apparently the world has other ideas.
Multichapter; all prewritten with chapters once a week until complete.
Chapter 2 is a go! Will Izumi and Ochako escape Aizawa's notice?
Hey, I'm running a Kingdom Hearts survey for a final project and I need data from fans!
This survey has three questions and should only take a couple of minutes.
I need data from Kingdom Hearts fans for a final project!
The data in question is to answer a few things:
Which combat system is preferred
I'd really appreciate any reblogs for reach, I only have a couple of weeks to gather this data and I want a reasonable sample size for a series with as many fans as Kingdom Hearts does. Thank you all so much!
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Gasp, another fic? And a multi-chapter at that?! I must be dreaming.... anyway, got a little fic here for you!

Translating: That would be the last night we ever spent beneath the same stars (JP translation and analysis)
Check out these heart-wrenching scene:
and in 日本語 Japanese:
It's just so interesting to me it caught my attention last night when I was supposed to be sleeping...... let's translate it!
俺たちが同じ星空を見たのは⸻
[pn. rough I] [p. pluraliser] [p. が specific thing] [a. same] [n. starry sky] [p. を thing being done] [v. past to see] [p. のは turns v./adj. into noun] [punc. unfinished sentence]
これが最後にった
[n. this] [p. が specific topic] [n. end/conclusion] [v. past to resemble/to be similar]
...this is a complex sentence! so forgive me if I get smth wrong here. But I would translate literally this to:
this looks like the last [time] we saw the starry sky
...or less literally just the official EN translation.
-------------
The whole phrase is just so interesting to me and has rattled around in my brain multiple times since I first heard it. I remember thinking at the time "surely this implies they do find each other again, no matter the tragedy of BBS?"
....and sure enough, they do at the end of KHIII!
But not only this. It also implies that the stars changed between BBS and KHIII, even after Sora saved the worlds multiple times.
Which is true! The dream worlds are proof that no all worlds made it back, as Yen Sid says:
"You will recall, in your first journey, that you brought many worlds back from the darkness - but some never returned completely.
Does this mean there are more worlds, trapped in slumber?
Further, we can assume you don't see the same stars in the realm of darkness, otherwise Aqua would have seen the same stars as the other two.... if only for a brief moment near the end of BBS.
To this end, if the stars seen in the realms of light and darkness are different, then we can speculate they are different again in Unreality, in which we know only of Quadratum there too.
Is every star in Unreality also another world? Is it their light that's shining down like a million lanterns?
Only one way to find out I guess! (and, perhaps, writing some speculative fanfiction too 💖)
Was doing some research for a comment but then ended up watching this video:
and oh gosh there's so much to unpack here. From a shadow of what's to come, to secrets of the black box..... ssdoinasdj I just had to post about it!
It was The Violet Howler that really introduced me to literary analysis. I am very much a newb at it but one of the things they (pls lmk if you read this I'm unsure what your pronouns are!) mentioned was microcosms and macrocosms:
...which as I understand it is essentially story elements mirroring each other at different levels of the story.
And, to this end, I think I spotted one in the above scene in The Caribbean.
In the above scene, we see Will Turner fighting Barbossa (I think I get the name right? haven't watched the film....).
Through a dramatic series of events even though Barbossa 'kills' Will he's still able to come back as the captain of the Black Pearl, though not before Will is forced to leave his friends behind.
In the same breath, Jack Sparrow kills Barbossa with the use of the black box.
At the same time, later in KHIII Sora is sent to Quadratum by the Wraith (Barbossa in the microcosm), and is able to return for a time, but ultimately is sent to Quadratum (KHIII ending).
Directly after this, we have what seems to be an enemy ship threatening Jack and the rest of them, and then Will + the Black Pearl comes to save the day.
Is this is a reflection of how Luxu and/or the Master of Masters may threaten 'Reality' in a future KH title?
Gosh so much angst!
...and if this is a shadow of what's to come, how accurate is it?
The Black Box and Luxu
"How disappointing. So this is all they meant when they said 'heart'. We've been chasing the wrong box this whole time!"
Like whaaaat? Surely this is such a gigantic hint that our lovely Black Box:
....may contain some kind of heart? And moreover, Vexen somehow knows about this?
At the same time, we've seen a situation like this before... I just don't remember where it was!
.....but anyway, who is Vexen to Luxord (and Xigbar Luxu), and why did Luxu tell either of them what's in the box? Or was it that Luxu simply lied?
"I've travelled to so many different places, it's hard to keep everything straight, y'know?" --Luxu
Also also, I don't think we've ever seen the other side of Luxord's cards?? need to do some research there but just realised this!
In any case, I find this whole situation completely fascinating, and The Plot Thickens™!
As a last thing, from the secret ending #2 from Re:Coded there's this gem of a scene that makes so much sense in hindsight:
Gosh, the narrowing of the eye there! and then this bit almost immediately afterwards:
Dunno if any of my rambles make sense lol it's just all rattling around in my brain rent-free:P
Thinking about how Sora's best and worst traits are so undeniably tied together. Or more, those flaws stemming from those best traits due to the twist of experiences that make him hold onto his strengths to the point they turn back around and break him bit by bit.
He's empathetic, he's optimistic, he isn't easily swayed by the darkness. Except, he's bottling up his negative emotions in the way he sometimes evades serious conversations about his own personal feelings. How he's told not to change and that, of course, he's strong enough to get through all the pain and fix things.
Both allies and enemies need him so they use him, and yet he's also put down. He's just a delivery boy, he's just a pawn, he's just a puppet, he's just the next name down the list, he's just a dull and ordinary boy.
Don't worry, he'll forgive.
Don't worry, he won't remember.
Don't worry, he'd be willing to have his heart crushed to pieces to protect his loved ones.
And don't worry, he's more than happy to sacrifice himself repeatedly if he feels that there's no other way.
Except, he's just a kid. He struggles and gets affected by those words, those titles, the weight of a role that demands everything out of him and yet tells him he isn't enough. He wins because of love and spite, but those never go without consequence. He isn't the kind of hero that gets a happily ever after without having to pay the price.
Just something about how while Sora's strengths are, clearly, his strengths, it sometimes gets used to a point that it creates or pushes out the issues that come from letting him go unchecked, and yet oftentimes we see how both his allies and enemies benefit from his best bringing out the worst in him.
I don't know if I'm making sense, I'm just putting the Sora angst in the microwave of my brain...

Making Kingdom Hearts Stuff Until KH4 Comes Out (Day 414)
well. FINALLY, after putting hours upon hours of work into this song, it's here!!!! thank you so so much @marchcapricekh for hosting the concert and presenting my song. I swear I am SOOO normal about luxu. so very normal. lyrics under the cut!!
lyrics:
what’s a king to a god?
what’s a god to a master?
what’s a master to light?
who am I thereafter?
never wanted to be
such a lonely bastard
but the burden of right
is to bleed disaster
who wants to live forever?
certainly not me,
but we’ll see,
they’ll all see.
hey kid, it’s a shame this is the only life you’ve got-
wouldn’t it be nice if more time could be bought?
don’t let those friends of yours get in the way,
watch from the shadows and see what they say.
don’t let all of those feelings cloud your vision now,
we’ve all got a role to play,
even when the light burns you,
there’s always a price to pay,
the dark won’t die easy and when it has faded away,
maybe I can see you and love you again someday.
who can see the future?
nobody but he;
he’s the lock,
I'm the key.
we were all born into sin,
that’s the way it’s always been,
never twas a day where we were free.
don’t let yourself lose track of your mission now,
we’ve all got a role to play,
even when the light burns you,
there’s always a price to pay,
the dark won’t die easy and when it has faded away,
maybe I can see you and love you again someday.
once there was a light beneath my eyes, I would’ve have died to save them all,
he took the light from me, no guarantee that I will be there to see the darkness fall,
and now here the weight will lay me to waste and no one will hear my call,
to break down this wall,
maybe it isn't worth it after all,
I said I will wait for you (I said I will wait for you)
until all my lives are through (till I see it through)
for as long as eternity takes (as long as it takes)
we will meet again someday (meet again someday)
Feed your dashboard by answering my question, blogger.
Official and perhaps automated question, but I still thought it was interesting and my first ask!
With art you can't objectively say "this art style is the best", or "this one is better than that one", and this also applies to games and art styles, esp so given many games have diverse settings and styles even within the same game (so much choice!)
However, I can show off a few that I think are cool if you're looking for inspiration, in no particular order:
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 ※ Gormotti Titan: looking out over the cloud sea from Gormott
Kingdom Hearts 3 ※ Scala ad Caelum: The white city
There are many places in the KH series I'm not obsessed with Traverse Town please send DDD traverse town pics like Twilight Town etc which look esp gorgeous in the KHIII rendering engine, but one I haven't talked about is Scala. It's so mysterious - I wanna just worldbuild and explore the whole place 🌟
Pokémon Sun and Moon ※ Alola: Library concept art
Technically A Video Game™, but I'm more interested in the anime. It feels like such a lived-in world with such scale! it makes me wanna go on a giant trip for like multiple years with a friend to explore the whole world ^_^
No wonder Ash is such a wanderer....
Ori and the Blind Forest ※ Thornfelt Swamp (cleansed): Waterfall and forest
Gosh it took a moment to find this place's name, I'd forgotten it.... Ori has such nice art 🌠
CrossCode ※ M.S. Solar: looking out towards Rhombus Square
CrossCode is like a modern, buttery-smooth love letter to pixelated games of yore, and also has such a diverse range of environments and art! From the tall buildings of Rhombus Square to the jungles of Gaia's Garden to the traditional 日本 Japanese style eternal-night Sapphire Ridge... 🤩
I really need to take and store more screenshots of the games I've played before for inspiration and reference.....
Hermitcraft Season 9 ※ The Land of Soup: The Soup Group 【GeminiTay, ImpulseSV, PearlescentMoon】's bases. Pearl is the alien biome to the left, Gem is the castle to the right, and Impulse is the giant dwarf fortress in the middle.
Also Technically A Game™ (hey, there are world downloads you can explore!), the closeness of the 3 hermits' bases in the Land of Soup was the catalyst for Season 10 and everything that's come after, but there are SO MANY cool bases here: at some point when I have the time and the patience I want to make a like 3 hour walking the map video for these beautiful places 🎵🎶🎵🎶 ✨
Genshin Impact ※ Unknown
Some crazy and awesome person did a 6 hour (6 hours!) walking from Mondstadt to Fontaine video (wow they have the patience of a saint), which was so fun to relax, chill, and work on fanfics/other stuff to!
I dunno exactly where this is, but the art and scenery of the place is so cool... 🌅
ニノ国 Ni No Kuni ※ Ding Dong Dell: The Cat King's Kingdom
While I don't get the ノvsの in the title there, I'm gonna play this game in Japanese some day ^_^
Backed by Studio Ghibli with a truly magical shader and ~20 mins (IIRC) of original Ghibli footage, 二ノ国 also has such a diverse range of places, modelled after the 4 seasons. From Ding Dong Well Dell and Al Mamoon in the Summerlands to Hamelin and Perdida in Autumnia to Yule in the Winter Isles... there's just so many cool places... asdqwdnoqwn ❄️
Celeste ※ Celeste Mountain: A strange place. You might see things.... things you aren't ready to see... 【fan art credit: notenlish @ itch.io】
While I haven't played the game, the art - similar to CrossCode - is so cool! It can be so cool and also terrifying - sometimes even in the same breath.
I can see the travel posters for places like this.... I might make one at some point 🌈
Phoenotopia: Awakening ※ GEO Club's Lake Laboratory
Okay okay I might have a thing for pixel games apparently, but Phoenotopia is just creative in it's use of perspective! It's a 2D side scroller (developed by Quell @phoenotopia), but with the layers behind, it really elevates the immersion in a way that the original flash game from all those years ago couldn't.
The old tramway/railway (which I can't screenshot rn given I'm stuck on Katash...) also has a really cool look.
Chicory: A Colorful Tale ※ Dessert Mountain from afar: Pizza gazing up at Dessert Peak and down at much of Picnic Province
If you haven't encountered Chicory the game before, I strongly recommend it, as it's a game about colouring in the world! It's also a game about a lot of other things too... but that's a spoiler :P
Gushing about another game aside, Picnic Province is just such a cool and creative place, everything from the smallest plant to the grandest mountain have been lovingly crafted and they're so すごいだね!🌄
Treasure Planet ※ Space background inspired by Treasure Planet, drawn by me
Woah, that's a lotta places.... I have a lotta poster/postcard drawing to do in mah future :P
Fic: I came to your call (the rest of the world will not fall)
https://archiveofourown.org/works/82422996
"How poetic: tonight it would be one storm against another."
Xehanort's defeat resonated with the worlds like waves of darkness in the proverbial bathtub, and it falls to keyblade wielders like Kairi and her teacher Master Aqua to deal with them before they drag the worlds into darkness once more.
or, Kairi takes out her frustrations on a giant wave of darkness and discovers she's capable of more than she thinks she is.
-------------------
Canon-adjacent AU, oneshot. Trigger warnings: Survivors' guilt, multiple discussions of death.
It's angsty fic time! Please mind the tags on this one, it gets p intense in the middle, esp w/Kairi dealing w/her feels.
Hope you enjoy! This fic really did demand to be written as a darker bookend to this fic (you don't need to have read it first) and kinda wrote itself haha, so it was a whole thing. Also, worldbuilding!

I've just noticed smth abt the clouds that always appear at the beginning of Kingdom Hearts games, in the opening cutscenes: they foretell the end of the game.
Spoilers below!
KH BBS: Motes of light, falling down in the darkness.... sounds a lot like Aqua, Terra, and Ven's tragic fate at the end of the story
KH FCP: The ocean in the daytime, and likely on the Destiny Islands of all places! abs accurate given Aqua ends up here at the end of the game.... even if she isn't ultimately saved. So close to the light, yet so far..... which is also reflected in the bubbles coming up from the deep and the panning of the camera towards the surface, perhaps signalling Aqua's fall to darkness in KHIII?
ALSO ALSO ALSO, who gave Luxu permission to gatecrash the beginning of this game?!? It was him all along and I didn't realise at all.... * facepalms *
The openings are SO TELLING IN HINDSIGHT it's insane - for the next KH game I wanna write down my immediate thoughts afta watching just the opening cutscenes and compare it to after :D
KHI: Dark clouds, reflecting not Sora's journey necessarily but Riku's
Even from the very very beginning there's been such an emphasis on Riku as a main character in the story.
KH CoM: Doesn't have one, but does show the sky in this unnamed world in the opening cutscene. Starting in light, but ending in darkness....
KHII: did not realise it has water instead of clouds! Then again, water has a reflection, just like Roxas and other nobodies are a reflection of their other....
KH 358/2: Doesn't have one but starting off w/Where the Nothing Gathers is p telling :P
[KH Re:Coded doesn't seem to have one at all at all? don't own games tho so please do correct if you do]
KH DDD: Above the clouds, a dreamy atmosphere... but also darkness and a reference to Xehanort's plot and how Sora almost looses his heart to darkness
KHIII: a sunset, perhaps signifying Sora's path to Quadratum at the end of the game?
KH MoM: Replays a mix of all existing intro sequences, which is cool
--------------------
You could probably absolutely do this for the KH official logos too - there's so many details in there I haven't noticed before.. lmk if you'd like me to make a post abt that also!
Didn't do KHχ etc bc they don't seem to have the same types of opening, but there's surely smth there too
Hey there, happy march caprice! It do be that time of year again - tysm to @marchcapricekh for hosting the 6th year of this fabulous online event, and what a coincidence: I have for you the 6th chapter of my episodical serial mostly-chill slice-of-life medical not-really-drama ensemble-cast fic, Kairi, Doctor Operating (Kairi, D.O. for short)!
Chapter 6: The exploits of ninjas and heroes
In which pianos, ninjas, and heroes are almost related.
[7.8K words!]
This was so fun to write, so I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it :D
Go check out everyone else's works here: https://www.marchcaprice.com/artists-alley-2026/?filter=writing&pid=12&pg=1
Learnt a new trick from a friend which helped a ton: if you get stuck writing, just jump ahead & start writing there, then come back to the bit you were stuck on later.
おっす、heya! I'm baaaaack with another translation〜(^v^)
This time, it's this scene from Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory:
【EN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOiy7QfOhpU】
As usual, I'm a big newb wrt 日本語 Japanese, and thanks to a certain someone for all their hard work and effort in teaching our small group 日本語 so far 💖
If anything's wrong/etc, please do post a comment so I can improve :D
Without further adieu (and with gratuitous use of yomitan + jisho), let's get this started!
Here's a table of character names (I abbreviated them):
Kairi → K
Riku → R
Fairy Godmother → FGM
K:それは?
→ [and] that is?
は is a particle that shows the subject of a sentence, and to me at least a sentence feels unfinished when it ends a sentence. With the rising pitch Kairi uses, this is a question.
FGM:では、会いに行きましょう
→ so then, let's go and meet [her]!
Here [her] is implied. Refers to The Nameless Star, which it's very curious the Fairy Godmother knows about. Quite diff to the EN too!
R:ええ?【EN: Huh?】
→ eh?
K:ここは⸻
→ this place is.....
Another unfinished sentence, Kairi remembers! Loving the vibes on this scene :D
R:知ってるのか?【しってるのか?】
→ [you] know [this place] already?
JP verbs are so flexible.... it's hard to put into words! The -いる part is like a continuing action. There's also context inferred here - ofc as with all translations, I put inferred stuff that isn't directly mentioned in [square brackets].
K:うん ソラと来て⸻【うん ソラと きて⸻】
→ Yeah. [I] came [here] with Sora...
うん is informal yeah, as expected here. Love the suuuper long dash「⸻」 here to indicate like trailing off / thoughtful mood ✨
K:さっきまで調査でも【さっきまで、ちょうさでも】
→ [I came here] too not long ago, at [the] examination [of my heart].
Interesting! In 日本語、Kairi's more explicit about it being the examination [of my heart] rather than "while I slept" like in EN.
Sentence structure confused me here, so I ended up making a guess based on the components I looked up.
K:ここは⸻
→ this place is......
Part 1/2 of my fav moment in this whole scene! I just looooove the way Kairi says this pair of lines :D
K:終わりの世界【おわりのせかい】
→ The Final World
Gosh, this is such a good name in 日本語。Romanised, it's owari no sekai、which uses the form 『<label> no <thing>』. おわり means end/「ending/close/conclusion」...but it also has a secondary meaning of 「end of (one's) life/death」.
This is a really powerful name for me that indicates that The Final World means that it's like lit. "The end of one's life world", which just hits like a tonna bricks...!
This and Kairi's tone leaves no room for doubt.
Such a great scene!
でもここには誰も⸻【でもここには だれも⸻】
→ but, who is in this place too? [there's nobody here.]
Another complex sentence structure. 誰も can mean either "everyone/anyone", or "no one/nobody", but the latter is only after a verb apparently. 誰 on it's own is also "who", so multiple ways to interpret this.
All lead to the same place tho in the end ^_^
FGM: ううん、よーく見て【ううん、よーくみて】
→ no, look closely and....
Credit t @yoroshiu for translation help here (and for other places too!)! うん means "yes", but ううん can be an interjection meaning "no", which I missed initially.
見て is the -te form of the verb 見る、which means "to see/look/watch/etc". Hence, the sentence is left open as she gestures for Kairi to take a closer look. It all checks out \o/
よーく I believe is intended to be 良く、which is "nicely/properly/skillfully/etc".
K:よく見ると、星がたくさん【よーくみると、ほしが たくさん】
→ on a closer look, [I see] lots of stars
たくさん is "a lot/a large number/etc". Not entirely sure but there's a slight rising tone in Kairi's voice too, so that indicates a questioning tone.
→ correct. this place exists as a space/threshold between life and death.
→ strong hearts stop [in this] place
Woah, what a lot to unpack! I'm proud I was able to decode this one :D
生と死の狭間 is like "life and death の [p. labeller] interval/space/threshold/loophole (in a wall)/etc", so quite literally there "interval/space between life and death, like it gives the vibe it's not a literal place (but ここ "koko" earlier in the sentence means "here/this place" which literalises it). 狭間 has many meanings, and I like the "loophole (in a wall)" one as it kinda fits, but didn't end up going with it.
場所【ばしょ】 isn't the word for place I know 【ところ】、but the dict is always right :P
Edit: @yoroshiu says that 場所【ばしょ】 means like more of a physical place, but 所【ところ】 can be more abstract, which def fits w/the "physical place" vibe here - tysm!!
More generally it's interesting in 日本語 it's like "strong hearts stop [in this] place" and not "gather here after death" as in EN. JP, as always, is context heavy - requiring inference to understand what's going on.
FGM:きっと彼女はここにいるはずよ【きっと かのじょはここきいるはずよ】
→ surely she should exist here [somewhere]
R:彼女?【かのじょ?】 【EN: She?】
→ she?
FGM:最後の鍵よ【さいご の かぎ よ】 【EN: The final key.】
→ [she's the] final key!
I feel like in 日本語 I automatically infer the "she's the", but in EN it's like just "the final key", which feels less human in a way, even tho it roughly literally translates to the same thing.
Again with the 『<labeller> の <thing>』 syntax, which is quite common in JP:
"end/final/conclusion/last の key/lock/key (to a problem)/clue"
...with よ being a sentence-ending particle that gives an informative feel**, like hoping to hand over some kind of wisdom.... though meanings in JP as in English are complicated and I'm a newb so identifying context here isn't smth I've got much xp w/yet.
ᓚᘏᗢ ᓚᘏᗢ ᓚᘏᗢ ᓚᘏᗢ ᓚᘏᗢ ᓚᘏᗢ ᓚᘏᗢ ᓚᘏᗢ ᓚᘏᗢ ᓚᘏᗢ ᓚᘏᗢ
That's all I got for now, thanks so much for reading! If you've got a scene you'd like translating, suggestions/corrections on the translations (or any other question)/brainrot rolling around in your head rent-free as a result of this, please feel free to let me know :D
終わりの世界 The Final World is just such an interesting phrasing in 日本語 Japanese hk adohwoqwidhjksdh 🌟✨ :D
Also also, I just love 日本語Japanese の Fairy Godmother's voice actor, whoever they are. It's just such a cool and expressive vibe!
I feel like I've improved a lot since last time I translated here, and I even know of a few compound particles - tho I'm not very good at remembering them yet :P
I haven't finished Horizon: Forbidden West as a game (watching a let's play), but one of my favourite things about both the game and it's predecessor Horizon: Zero Dawn is the intricate culture and sociocultural details included at every level: from the very big, like Plainsong being built on the backs of old radio telescopes, or the very small, like these tiny tallnecks ✨
It really speaks volumes about how much care and attention to detail the authors put into it(^v^)
