I've had my faux locs in for a while now and I'm thinking about going my hair like this again. I'm loving the whole Island Girl Vibes I'm getting from this look. Very low maintenance too. The Nubian eyeshadow palette by Juvia's is everything! For the last couple of months I've been going makeup crazy epically when it comes to eye shadow palette. This is exactly what I was talking to my mom about. I’m 26 with a son and just now coming to terms with what I want to be in life. I had to let go of the traditional idea of how things are supposed to go and let go of the skewed timeline in which we supposed to obtain those things. It was doing me a disservice listening to that nonsense and stopped me from being my authentic self.

Perks of having two older siblings who are still trying to figure their lives out, a dad who doesn’t care too too much about what we do so long as we don’t stay in house too long, and a mom who believes that a person should always be reinventing themselves (going back to school when you lose a job, trying new things when you have the time, traveling, etc.). I’ve reblogged this before and I will probably continue to reblog it every time I see it. This woman is such a good mommy. Not only did she explain to her daughter in clear and digestible way why she was beautiful and worthy but she smashed down the tantrum without talking over her daughter. She gave her the opportunity to speak in a way that made her feel respected and responded in kind. Her daughter left this conversation with her self esteem intact and a whole new take on how she feels about her skin. Good job, mommy.
