Thereâs only a few people Joshua can easily pick out of a crowd, downtuned as he is. But someone Sanae personally vouched for himself? Itâs not like Joshua can say he was ever attached to Rhyme, but heâs felt the girlâs essence enter the stratosphere, only for it to be ripped from him againâ and in some accursed world a whole universe away, heâs still holding onto her fee. He canât say he was attached, but he knows her, personally, as little as she might be able to say so herself.
So to let her find harm, here of all places? Sounds like a waste, if you ask him. A pair of the hulking zombies corner Rhyme, and Joshuaâs descending from his rooftop perch in an instant. The crackle of energy fizzles at his fingertips, then the light splashes onto the offenders. Heâd be lying if he said their dying screeches didnât bring at least a little bit of satisfaction, so long of being starved of this control.
âI donât know if weâve ever officially met, Rhyme,â Joshua says, calm as the coast clears. Itâs only a moment after does he actually stop levitating and touch ground. âBut, Iâm pretty sure your brother would try to give me a good knuckle sandwich or two if I let you get hurt.â
Even here, Rhyme could perish amongst the many -- a fate she wasnât so comfortable with. And yet, as sheâs bombarded with these... zombies --Â she guessed, that was the only way to think of them, right? (They looked... so real. It was horrifying to think about.) -- she wasnât so certain sheâd make it.
-- Rhyme was saved by something -- no, quickly corrected, someone. But heâs not familiar. Maybe a twinge, actually -- a sense of a deja vu, unplacable. But whatever the case, she didnât properly recognize him.
... A friend of Beatâs? Based on what he said, the option was open, but someone like this...
Ah -- Maybe it was someone he met at that time.
âThank you!â They really did appreciate it, regardless -- there would be time to think about the hows and whys later, for now she should simply focus on staying out of harmâs way.
(She can only hope he brother is faring better.)
A giggle, then, is what escapes their mouth, as she looks over at the kind stranger. âHeâs just being protective. Iâd still steer clear of his punches, though. But itâs nice to meet you -- whatâs your name?â
