So many environmental problems could be solved if people weren’t weird about fur. I think feral cats could be good sustainable fur just like invasive foxes, but that makes people queasy
Furs from feral cats would be awesome. I know there's this one awesome guy in Australia who hunts feral cats and makes stuff from their skins!
For more than 20 years, Barry Green — known as the "KI cat man" — has made it his mission to rid the island of feral cats. He has trapped, killed and skinned about 1,500 feral cats turning their skin into stubby holders, bags and other quirky household items which he sells.
He keeps a record in his notebook of each cat he has killed and turned his American River home into a museum-like shrine to raise awareness about feral cats.
"I've spent a lot of money chasing cats around the island," Mr Green said. "I don't hate cats, I just hate the feral ones."
jesus fuck no. here is an amazing idea. no fur! just make things from other sources
Like what exactly? Modern fabrics made from plastics?
Feral cats are an invasive species that is destroying the local environment. Hunting invasive species is a good thing. Should he throw away the furs instead?
There are a multitude of fabrics that are not made from plastics.
Feral cats are a result of humans deciding they don’t need them anymore and casting them aside with no attempt to control their populations. Governments where feral cats are a problem should invest in rounding up these cats and taking care of them in sanctuaries while having a mass neutering problem to stop their rampant breeding. No species deserves to be hunted down and killed just because humans fucked up. Again.
There’s up to 5.6 million feral cats in Australia. Who the heck is gonna feed and care for all those cats when shelters have a hard enough time caring and finding homes for unwanted pet cats? It’s neither feasible nor humane.
These cats are basically wild animals. You can’t touch or go near them. Keeping them in captivity would be extremely cruel and stressful for them. Killing them is quick and efficient. These cats kill billions of animals a year and have wiped out entire species. There’s no room for sentimentality in situations like this. Animals die, that’s just nature. As long as it’s quick and painless then it’s by far the most humane and effective solution.
Here’s a great documentary on the subject;
(WARNING: contains graphic content)
Ironically, the only way to contain the tens of millions of feral cats in the world would be to keep them all in the tiny pens peta claims are the only housing offered in every single fur farm.

EVERYONE STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND READ THIS
I don’t know if you know this now, but right now, there are two sisters from Saudi Arabia that are FLEEING the country and seeking asylum to escape their abusive family. If they return to Saudi Arabia, there’s a very good chance they’ll end up in a forced marriage, raped or even KILLED.
They made a video explaining what happened here
Here are some news articles I found about this
They managed to get to Twitter and alert everyone about their situation, but Twitter took their accounts down
Twitter is actually trying to SILENCE them and make sure that no one knows about this. Don’t let them get away with it. Reblog this and use the hashtag #SaveDuaandDalal
Thanks to @daughter-of-iblis for letting me know about this

History: The Minoan civilization had a rapid decline following the eruption of a volcanic island close to Crete where they had settled. The eruption was so large its effects were felt all the way in China.
Me: Oh yeah. The Mediterranean had a lot of problems with volcanoes every few thousand years or so. So why was this one special?
What the island looks like today:
Me………….. oh
Ye.
They had several extremely advanced items for the time period (3000 BC to c. 1100 BC) which other civilizations had not developed yet for thousands of years (such as a working plumbing system). They had a writing system we have no idea how to read as no writing system evolved from it and it’s not related to any of the other writing systems we do understand (ancient Greek, Ancient Egyptian etc etc)
They had a extremely peaceful nation from what we can gather, as none of their art showed soldiers or military until near the end of their civilization, and instead showed scenes of agriculture, games, every day life and things along those lines instead.
“tiddies out” civilization as I like to call it due to the common dress of the women as shown in almost all art.
(men are drawn with darker skin than women)
I heard somewhere that they were possibly a Matriarchal society but I need to do research on that as I’m not entirely comfortable with declaring that as possibly true just because I heard 1 person talk about it. I want to see some sources first.
But yeah. Many people believe the Minoans were the basis for the Atlantis story.
Plato wrote the story of Atlantis in 360 BC and based his Dialogues are supposedly quoting Solon who went to Egyp between 580BC and 590BC and Solon said he got the information about Atlantis from the Egyptian Records.
The Minoan Civilization, like I said, was between 3000 BC to c. 1100 BC. So by the time Plato wrote his dialogue on Atlantis, which is our only Primary source, the Minoan civilization was something that had died more than a thousand years ago. Meaning this was ancient history to the people of ancient history.
this post was so educational then the youtube anime art slapped my ass and called me gucci
They also worshipped bulls, hence the entire story of the Minotaur (Minoan Bull).
They engaged in bull leaping/bull jumping/bull dancing, where gymnasts would leap over live bulls. The bulls were not harmed, but undoubtedly some of the dancers were hurt or even killed.
Forms of bull leaping are practiced today in southwestern France, some parts of Spain, and Tamil Nadu. Likely the forms in France and Spain descend from the Minoan sport.
But these people were obsessed with bulls.
The Plato fandom roasting me in the notes for saying this probably inspired Atlantis 😭
Also tumblr says I turned off replies on this and I ABSOLUTELY DID NOT!! Turn them back on!!!
Edit: oh hey they’re back on
