@recoveringlacey
Itâs ok to be where I am. I donât have to wake up tomorrow and be a pro. And I think that mentality has gone a long way for me in terms of just surrendering. To the moment, surrendering to where I am, and surrendering even in my failures.
The hardest part about recovery is that you have to keep choosing it, even on the bad days.
(via dryyoureyes-startbelieving)
i am strong i will do this i will recover
restricting is not my lifeâs purpose
i am not here to shrink as much as possible
i am here to grow and I want to reach the stars
There is no room for comparison in recovery.
Donât compare yourself to those who do not have an eating disorder.Â
Donât compare yourself with those who have a different eating disorder.Â
Donât compare yourself with those who have the same eating disorder.
Everyone is unique, so every recovery will be different. Some people will gain quickly, some slowly. Some will take the mental challenges of recovery head on and others will avoid them. Some will be cleared to exercise in recovery and some will be on bed rest. Some will be given higher calorie meal plans and others will be allowed more flexibility in what they eat.Â
There is no one size fits all recovery method becauses eating disorders are not simple. They are complex illnesses that often take a lifetime of mastery and mindfulness to stay on top of.Â
The good news is that recovery from an eating disorder is a journey of self discovery. Donât compare your journey to someone elses. You are on different paths.Â
Feel the fear and eat anyway.
its okay to eat
- if youâre hungry (or mentally hungry) - if youâre craving it (or wanting it in any way) - if youâre celebrating (even if itâs just waking up) - if itâs something âextraâ - if itâs pizza for breakfast or ice cream for dinner.
eating will never be bad. food will never hurt you. itâs ok.
If youâre waiting until youâre âsick enoughâ before going to get help for your eating disorder:
Donât
Subthreshold and atypical disorders are still full blown disorders
your eating disorder will never allow you to believe that youâre sick enough for help
you are sick enough to receive treatment right this minute
You can recover sooner rather than laterÂ
I believe in you
if you see this post try to do any of these right now
drink a glass of water
put on chapstick/lip balm
clip/file/paint your nails
take three deep breaths
put on fuzzy/comfortable pants
say something outloud that youâve been thinking
look up pictures of dogs or cats (or any animal you like basically)
walk around your house
go outside (if you can) and look for plants/flowers
take pictures of said plants/flowers
stretch your arms
if youâre sad try to smile as big as you can and take a picture of it
cheer up
it will be okay
Realising a fear food won't make me gain weight

You donât have to be grateful that it isnât worse.
read that. read it again, and again, and again. somebody, somewhere, always has it worse than you. there is one person on this planet that has it the worst of all, and that person is NOT the only person allowed to be unhappy with their lot. if things are bad for you, they are bad for you. period.
if you are having trouble with eating:
you deserve to eat
you need to eat
food is not the enemy
calories give you the energy to smile
you are worthy
you are loved
i am proud of you for fighting, you can do this!!
5 seconds of insane courage, itâs all you need
your struggles are real, so is your bravery
you are good enough
you are not a mistake
you are one of a kind
every cell in your body needs love
