“Why is it that I have to be stuck with the lazy, slow paced brat for a partner” Sasori grew tired of pacing outside your door. He had been waiting for 30 minutes. Orders were to be ready by sunrise and you still were not prepared, no matter how much he warned you to be on time the day before.
“Come on already, you know I don’t like to be kept waiting” Agitation grew in Sasori’s voice as he begun preparing to open your door to drag you out. But before his hand could touch the handle, the door opened with you zipping your cloak up to your chin, “I know I know, Sasori. Jeez you’re always so impatient".
He growled under his breath, walking ahead to the entrance, taking course to your mission towards Iwagakure.
His silent anger could be felt through his puppet, Hiruko. His aura grew with rage with every step through the forest and you couldn’t help but feel to be the culprit of this.
Breaking the silence after 2 hours of travel, you moved to his side, “Sasori?”
He didn’t even entertain you with a grunt of acknowledgement. Yet you still continued, “Why is it that you don’t like to be kept waiting. I understand no one likes to be ‘kept waiting’ but, you seem to be more annoyed than the average - -“
His body shot up from Hiruko’s back and pushed you against a tree with his forearm pressing on your chest, keeping you firmly there. You stared widely at his wooden features, his eyebrows were furrowed which made his deadened brown eyes look more aggressive than normal.
“Mind your own business and keep those infuriating questions to yourself”
You frowned and pushed your knee up, breaking the contact to save yourself from his grip. After all, as an Akatsuki member you told yourself to never be seen as weak and never let them push you around.
“I’m your partner and it seems nothing will change that until one of us is dead. So it’d be nice to actually get some understanding of my partner and who he is so I could actually understand him a bit better for future reference”.
He was growing annoyed further and headed back to his puppet, speaking without even looking at you, “Know your place, and it certainly is not in my private life”
“My place is by my partners side in the Akatsuki. Do you rather I ask constant questions until I get an answer? Or ask once and never again?”.
He held up a kunai up and turned to side eye you, “You could always ask once more and I will kill you”.
You stared emotionless, showing that you don’t see Sasori as a threat and calmly spoke, “We both know you won’t do that. I am of use to you in these missions. Suppose you did kill me. Then what, would you be alright with being partnered with someone like Tobi instead?”
He sighed, mentally exhausted. If he were human he would roll his eyes at your persistence and also logical comment. He paused, still not looking at you, “Do you have family, [Y/N]?”
The question caught you off guard, bringing you into some memories that you thought you buried deep within you. You were abandoned at such a young age, left to fend for yourself. Trusting no one but only yourself.
You hesitated to answer at first but decided that if you wanted to know something from Sasori, then he should be able to learn something of you as well. You had a family, once. You opened your mouth to speak but Sasori continued his words.
“Imagine waiting for them to come back. Day and night, looking out into the sandy abyss. Awaiting for two silhouettes to emerge and come home as you waited by the door. Every. Single. Day"
Your heart filled with guilt to bring such a personal memory out of Sasori. You instantly regretted asking and began to apologise until he interrupted you again, “Only to be lied to, for years by the one person who was left to care for you. But all they did was cause me to feel so..empty”.
You stared, heartbroken, at the back of Sasori’s head. You felt so foolish to bring this out of him and all you could do was surprise him with your next actions. He felt your arms wrapped around him from behind. He looked down to see your hands at his chest, holding him tightly, “What are you- - “
This time, you wouldn’t let him speak.
“I think whoever lied to you, cared about you greatly enough to lie. They wanted to save you the pain when really, they only brought it on further. But know that as your partner, I will not lie to you, Sasori. I understand now. I’m sorry”.
Your head rested lightly between his shoulder blades as you spoke, silently praying for forgiveness at bringing up such a harsh memory for him. It did in fact make you understand him more and mentally tell yourself to be punctual for his sake in future. The exhale that came out of him brought you to his attention again.
“No one has dared put their arms around me since I was human”
You mentally loathed yourself for breaching his personal space without permission and unlinked your fingers hastily in panic and regret. To your shock, his hand rested on them upon his chest, stopping you.
every time this post comes around, my favorite part is the “I know it’s the Mets” qualifier at the beginning lmao like how baseball that this zillion note posts starts with “sorry for putting this hellteam on your dash, bUT”
Anxiety took the better of you. Your body stiffened and yet trembled as if you’re shivering from a non existent chill. Tension arose from your spine and up towards your neck where the tiny hairs stuck up on end. Breathing became shaky no matter how hard you attempted to ease it with steady breaths. Your heart felt full of pain and yet so empty at the same time. Times like this you didn’t know what to do, fight it? endure it? run from it? scream? cry? Who knows at this rate. Your heart begged you to call for help but your mind wanted to feel strong and tackle this matter alone. Pacing up and down your bedroom didn’t help either, it only made your shoulders ache from rigidness. Your mind was always so harsh on you in times like this and you have slowly grown to accept it, sometimes giving in, other times letting it boil up until the brink of explosions; regardless, the outcome was always unhealthy. But this time you needed to tackle this, for you.
Taking place at the centre of your rug, back straight and legs crossed. You touched knuckles, forearms resting on thighs and thumbs connected by the tips.
Three deep slow breaths in and out will help you thought,
In ...and out.
In ...and out.
In ...and out.
Your eyes naturally closed, at first you squinted them shut out of habit as you focused on your painfully shaky chest and breath, hoping and begging for it to calm.
A knock on your door startled you, you told yourself to ignore it.
Now is the time to focus on me, I can’t let it take over, nor can I let anyone see me in this vulnerable state. I don’t want to be weak anymore.
A faint feeling of fingertips enclosed around your hands, eyes widened at the touch. Deidara looked sympathetic and worried, your eyes repeated his expression and he knew all too well of the feeling you were enduring. He mimicked your posture quietly adjacent to you, taking his hands in yours he closed his eyes and relaxed, breathing calmly as he brushed his thumbs delicately upon your knuckles. This action made your eyes deny you strength as you felt your eyelashes dampen. Closing your eyes too with a deep breath, falling into rhythm with his, you were able to slowly and calmly reduce your heart rate. The comfort of his company allowed you to feel strong once again, he was your strength. Slowly your eyelids felt heavy as your long, slow deep breaths gradually became one with his. A sense of being watched overcome you as you slowly opened your eyes once you were ready, he smiled warmly at you, watching patiently for you to feel strong within yourself. You returned the smile softly. A look of guilt took over, always feeling that he had to take care of you in these times of need. Never did you ask for it though, he always came as if he knew no matter where he was. He pulled you into his lap, intertwining his fingers around your waist and resting his head on your shoulders, “You’re stronger than you realise. One day I hope you learn to love yourself as much as I love you, [Y/N]”.
I got 2 nart hcs and they're both kinda contradictory: -Gai and kakashi get married and it takes literally years for the konoha 13 (or like...90% of Konoha) to find out bc it was a private wedding and kakashi just never mentions it. Gay tries to but he uses such flowery/poetic language that ppl just tune him out - lee, sakura, tenten, and neji occasionally try to spy on gai and kakashi to figure out whether or not they're dating (naruto sometimes is also there)
I fuckin LOVE these. I love hcs where gai and kakashi are just kinda together and no one really knows. they like, don’t try to hide it, but they also don’t like..announce it. I love it.
“I like the way your hand fits in mine” prompt - Kisame x Reader
The water glistened in the moonlight, the salty fresh air sent you into a peaceful state as you laid floating on your back in the waters, letting your mind wonder ever so calmly and so naturally. You wanted to close your eyes and let all your senses take over but the fear in the back of your mind took over that you might drift to sleep. The scenery was beautiful, glowing a hue of cool tones, complimenting one another. The trees danced in the soft wind as leaves scattered in the air. You could stay like this all day you thought, becoming one with the nature around you. Every now and then your mind would force you to flinch as a flicker of water splashed across the plane, presumably a fish breaking the surface. Being a shinobi always kept you on edge but this was time for relaxation, you had only wished you could spend this time with your partner. He was always busy on missions with the Akatsuki. Your relationship was confidential, only one person knew about it and that was Itachi, his partner. You could trust him though, he had a special connection with Kisame, an unspoken form of respect that you doubted the other members of the Akatsuki had with one another.
This was your spot to meet him and also a spot where you would go on your own to enjoy the peace and tranquility you could muster in this accursed, war ridden world.
You sighed out contently at this feeling, wanting it to last for a life time. However you knew by the height of the moon that it was time to leave, the winds had a certain chill to it that sent goosebumps over your skin. You allowed yourself to sink into the waters, turning on your front to swim to the edge. You shivered as the crisp air attacked your skin once more, hastily returning your clothes to your body. A deep husky chuckle was heard behind you as strong, broad arms wrapped around your being. You couldn’t help but grin from ear to ear, twisting in his grip to face him and return the favour, “Kisa~” you spoke with so much glee. He took his own cloak off and wrapped it around you before pecking your forehead, wrapping you once again in his arms as he sat you between his legs, looking out to the lake. You rested your head against his chest and enjoyed the warmth. You could sit there and enjoy a comforting silence for hours with him, this peaceful setting just made you feel so at home, even more so that you’re surrounded by the warmth of your sharky boyfriend.
Kisame grabbed a hold of hand, feeling the chill in your fingers and engulfed yours into his whilst kindly heating them for you. He fixated his eyes on how his hands covered yours entirely and smirked, “I like the way your hand fits in mine”.
You looked down as your tiny hands which were only slightly bigger than his single palm, his fingers wrap around them like a warm cage that you never wish to leave. “Come with me, [Y/N]” he whispered into your ear, you peered up as he placed another kiss on your forehead and continued, “Itachi spoke to Leader of you, he wishes for you to join us. Come with me, let’s be together until the end”. A blushed tinted your cheeks as a smile crept onto your lips, you’ve awaited for him to say something like this for months. You intertwined your fingers around his neck pulling him down for a kiss on the lips, pulling away gently you answer, “I will follow you wherever you go, I love you”
Injury Prompt: “Whoa when did you get this?” Kakuzu
Kakuzu trudged back weakly into the Akatsuki hideout during the middle of the night. To his gratitude the area was silent, not even a simple creak of a floor board. Kakuzu was pissed off. The bounty he had encountered picked a better fight than he could ever imagine. They were of equal level, perhaps leaning slightly over to Kakuzu’s side as he of course, won. Otherwise he wouldn’t be entering his home, alive.
The briefcase dragged lowly to the ground by a tendril for Kakuzu’s palms were burnt to a crisp, the excruciating pain numbed during the long walk back home. He did originally plan to sleep outside and make haste in the morning, however the wounds inflicted on him were too deep and risked infection. The man was too weak to risk being captured out in the open and neither did he want to spend a single ryo on an inn, seeing this bounty reward as a trophy after that ridiculous battle. He wanted every piece of it for himself, no way will he spend this money on something so mediocre.
Kakuzu winced as the wound on his torso began to seep blood once more. He delicately peeled off his cloak in order to see the damage, furrowing his eyebrows as he started to realise he was more hurt than he expected. He paused staring at the sofa, wanting to rest but the thought of the others walking in on him looking like this was a disgrace in his eyes. He can only imagine how Hidan would torment him with ridicules and insults, irritating him further on the matter. He feebly stepped forwards and down the corridor to his room, slipping off his top in the process, compressing it on the wound in hopes to clot the blood for now. As he opened his door the sight of his bed took over any thought of cleaning up. He truly needed the rest after the long walk back. He dropped the briefcase on the floor and slumped onto the bed, letting his eyes hang heavy and his breathing calm down.
As the sun rose the members of the Akatsuki went about their business with their morning routines, but one person couldn’t take his eyes off the entrance, “Hey has anyone seen Kakuzu?” He turned to the other members who either shook their heads or shrugged their shoulders. He aimed for the kitchen until a certain trail of blood intrigued him. An eyebrow of his rose as he crouched down, dipping a finger into the red substance, confirming his predictions as correct.
His eyesight followed the trail, one end heading to the entrance and the other down the hallway. He followed the specks, arms slung into his pockets and head tilting to the ground. He reached the end, landing at the door that fell opposite his own, he frowned before knocking loudly, “Yo, Kakuzu. You in there?”. His eyes squinted in suspicion but chose to enter regardless of the lack of response. The door swung open, revealing an unconscious Kakuzu diagonally sprawled onto the bed. Hidan’s eyes widen in shock, never seeing his partner in this state before. He walked over slowly wondering if he was even alive, he placed two fingers onto his neck, feeling for a pulse.
A tendril flicked out in defense, squeezing the offender’s wrist, “Relax, it’s me” He consoled with an obscure softness in his voice. Kakuzu’s eye opened as he hissed out, “Hidan, get out”.
Hidan ignored his words and crouched down to his eye level where Kakuzu’s head laid lower than his pillow, “You don’t look so good, what happened?”
Kakuzu laid silently for a moment, contemplating whether to talk or kick his partner out of his room but soon chose to answer, “Bounty”.
Hidan hummed in response as Kakuzu shakily rolled onto his back, hissing at the pain when he reminded himself of the fire jutsu that charred his palms and forearms, “Whoa, when did you get this?” Hidan said pointing at Kakuzu’s chest where a wide slit went from peck to abdomen, crusted with dried blood was present.
“What did I just say? Bounty” Kakuzu said attempting to lift himself up from his bed to clean up. However, this seemed an impossible task right now.
Hidan’s actions surprised Kakuzu, for he left the room to return shortly afterwards with medical supplies from the infirmary down the hallway, next to Sasori’s room. Hidan returned wetting a cloth that was in his hand and held it out for Kakuzu, he scowled as a response. Hidan rolled his eyes, pushing the cloth closer to Kakuzu, “If you’re not gonna clean yourself up then either I do it, or I’ll shout for Sasori to help you. Your fucking choice”
Kakuzu snatched it out of his hand and began blotting the area gently after leaning back with his head against the wall. His eyes were tightly scrunched closed at the pain, then Hidan noticed. Kakuzu’s arms and hands were burnt, discoloured to a deep red. Kakuzu isn’t the type to ask for help, Hidan knew this from being his partner for so long now. He rolled his eyes at the sight and went to grab something. Upon returning Kakuzu hadn’t made much process. Hidan placed a bowl of cold water onto Kakuzu’s lap and took the cloth off of him, seating himself on the bed aside him and gently fixing up his partner. Kakuzu watched on skeptically, “What’s your game? Why are you helping me?”
“Bitch if I do this for you now then you’ll simply owe me one, next time. Besides, it’s unsightly to see you like this. I can’t have my partner looking so pathetic in front of the others”.
A flicker of the campfire’s flame glowed upon the duo’s faces as they glared at one another from opposite ends of the camp. A blizzard trapped them for half a day in a nearing cave on the outskirts of the Frost Village. Hidan got on his partner's wrong side too many times today, causing Kakuzu to be on the brink of snapping. Knowing that they’ll be trapped here for the rest of the day forced him to bury it in, he exhaled deeply to keep calm; of course this was to no avail.
Hidan growled under his breath getting agitated with Kakuzu’s actions. His partner ignored his presence which only riled Hidan up further. He turned his gaze to the clearing behind him, scooting back into a comfortable spot before slicing his wrist, pouring its contents onto the freshly frozen ground, marking his praying circle. Kakuzu watched his movements until he realised that his partner was in the process of starting his ridiculous ritual. Kakuzu scoffed before leaning back on the cave wall, pulling out the map to figure out the next plan of movement as soon as the blizzard dies down.
Hidan pressed that he is immortal and could handle any weather condition though Kakuzu countered that he refuses to carry a frozen body before freezing himself, causing their mission to falter as well as risking the chance of not obtaining a bounty in the village they’re passing through.
Kakuzu’s attention kept drawing back to his partner, his ears perked at the mumbles Hidan kept under his breath, he growled, “If you plan on praying to that non existent god of yours, you can at least do it in silence”.
Hidan opened one eye from holding his necklace to his lips, laying on the ground with his spear pierced through his heart, “For fuck sake dude what is your problem today?”
“You, you’re my problem” Kakuzu turned back to his map to concentrate, hoping Hidan would obey his words and shut up. However, Hidan had to press himself up onto his elbow and turn to face Kakuzu who he originally had his back to, “Look if I can fucking deal your greedy obsession with materialistic items like money, then you can deal with the fact I gotta pray to Jashin. I’m way over here, keeping to my damn self and I’m bothering you?” Hidan scoffed and went back to his own business.
Kakuzu snapped his gaze from his map, a growl emitted through his throat as he glared at his partner, “All day you have pressed me on and on with idiotic personal questions, you voice is grating. I swear I will find a way to kill you”
“BE MY FUCKING GUEST!” Hidan slammed his body back onto the ground, retrieving the spear from his chest to only impale himself 3 more times with brute force, his own way on unfurling frustration without inflicting a fight with Kakuzu, knowing he would end up ripped limb from limb and left with his head thrown into the blizzard. Hidan scrunched his eyes closed before muttering again to his God, “Forgive me Jashin.. I don’t know how to deal with this.. I never asked for this..”
Hidan’s hand squeezed tightly onto the metal chain of his necklace as the pendant rested upon his pale forehead. What he didn’t know was that Kakuzu watched him pull out his anger upon himself, those words he shouted back..he knew how Hidan would always say he wanted someone to actually kill him but these words spoke more emotion that normal. Kakuzu wasn’t the type to press or talk of emotion but hearing more words from his partners mouth made him tower over Hidan in order to hear clearly, believing his ears had deceived him.
Hidan felt his partners presence and bolted his eyes open hastily, believing Kakuzu was about to go on the offence. He lifted himself quickly onto the palm of his hands, readying to bounce back but Kakuzu ended up crouching down in front of him, meeting his eyes, “Repeat what you said”
Hidan narrowed his eyes at his partner as a faint flush of pink hit his cheeks, he turned to face the ground by his hand, “I don’t know what you’re fucking on about”
Kakuzu’s tendrils wrapped around Hidan’s chin tightly as he forced him to face him, “You heard exactly what I said, now..repeat”
Although Hidan was forced to face Kakuzu, he moved his gaze elsewhere and mumbled under his breath his words. Kakuzu grabbed his collar roughly pulling him inches in front of his face and huffed, “Louder, Hidan”
“Forgive me Jashin, I think I’m.. in love”
Kakuzu’s ears didn’t deceive him, he let go of Hidan’s collar in a jolt of shock, Hidan pulled the tendril off his face and got up angrily, “Hidan”.
“Mind your own fucking business”
Kakuzu stood up, waited for a moment to watch Hidan, not knowing how to talk to him right now. Who? Konan? It’s the only female the pair have encountered being in an organisation of criminals. Though it didn’t make sense to Kakuzu for he hardly went out his way to communicate to the other members unless necessary. Kakuzu shook his thoughts away and turned to the campfire once more, pulling the map out.
Hidan turned to look over his shoulder, seeing his partner leave him on that note, making him repeat it so he could hear. Embarrassing him, he was furious. He couldn’t tell if it was because he forced him to say it or the fact Kakuzu left it on that note, he slammed his hand across his forehead and cursed to himself before trudging towards the cave’s entrance nearing the blizzard, dragging his scythe along the ground.
“Where are you going” Kakuzu questioned, not taking his eyes from the map.
Hidan noticed and scowled, “What do you fucking care, I’m just a fucking pain to you anyway”
“You didn’t answer my question”
Hidan let out a frustrated yell, “For fuck sake, to get away from you alright? It’ll keep you fucking happy” Hidan turned to the entrance and began to leave, not before Kakuzu flickered behind him, using the back of his foot to hook Hidan’s scythe from moving with him. He turned to look at the source that stopped him from leaving, eyes widening to see it was Kakuzu. “I’ll be happy if you stay where it is safe. Perhaps you could also explain to me why you’re asking your god for forgiveness".
Hidan turned to face the blizzard, internally questioning whether to risk answering that question or to run out into the blizzard and get away from this strange moment, saving them both the risk of making their partnership awkward and more difficult than it already is. Kakuzu surprisingly watched on patiently as he could see the uncertainty through Hidan’s body language. Knowing his partner for so long, he knew emotion wasn’t something either of them dwelled into often, or at all. So of course he understood all too well why Hidan was fighting himself right now.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen to me for saying this and right now..I don’t care what Jashin thinks”
Hidan turned to face his partner and stared longingly into his eyes, eyebrows tilted with guilt, “I think..no, the truth is I love you, Kakuzu”.
