Hi! I’m Molly, I’m 22, Australian, and I use any pronouns! I’ve been on tumblr for 10 years, but stopped using it until recently.

Next up someone is going to claim that the Narnia series isn't kids books.

Kids books is probably not the best way to word it, you can enjoy them at every age, including your childhood, as you get older you may find new truths in them, but they're still good for any age.

I want you to understand this. I NEED you to understand this. My mother read me the hobbit as bedtime story, and I started pushing myself to read before pre-school so I could in fact read the hobbit for myself instead of having to wait for bedtime.

I didn't do so right away but jesus wept I PUSHED myself to learn to read SPECIFICALLY so I could read The Hobbit! It is, in fact, a children's story! And children only see page count as 'there is a lot of this fun story to read!'

Cassie- Edgedancer

Edgedancers’ ethos is ‘I will remember those who have been forgotten’. They focus on supporting the underdog, and saving the downtrodden.

This suits Cassie, as she cares for all animals, tries to avoid casualties, and even helps the enemy, with her work in the Yeerk Peace Movement.

Progression- healing and plant growth abilities reflect her nature/tree-hugger side

Abrasion- Can change the friction of objects, including her feet to skate across any surface as if it were ice. Allows edgedancers to move quickly and heal their allies. Cassie is versatile and quick in her wolf morph.

Tobias- Willshaper

The Willshaper ethos is ‘I will seek freedom’- a bit of a no-brainer for Tobias, who chooses to live as a bird so he has freedom to fly and freedom from other’s expectations. He is the biggest advocate for Hork-Bajir freedom, and is always in favour of freeing captives

Cohesion: similar to Earth-bending, involves manipulating stone

Transportation- basically teleportation. Wish he could be an order with gravitation (flight) but they dont suit him as well as Willshaper

Ax- Skybreaker

Skybreakers focus on seeking justice- Justice for Elfangor, justice for his human friends, justice for his new home Earth. Ax follows a rigid moral code like many skybreakers, and struggles to deviate from it. He feels the need to prove himself and avenge the death of his brother

Gravitation- flight

Division- decaying objects upon touch, can create fire. Often considered the most dangerous of the 10 surges, requires a lot of discipline and caution.

Jake- Stoneward

‘I will be there when I’m needed’ fits Jake very well. Jake is the leader, and the others rely on him to keep them together. He is the glue, the team falls apart without him. He has to be strong, and can’t let his friends know that he is breaking. He is needed throughout the war, and collapses without this purpose.

Stonewards are tanks and are heavy infantry/frontline forces. Teamwork is an important thing for them.

Cohesion- stone-shaping

Tension- manipulating rigidity of objects

Rachel- Windrunner

‘I will protect those who cannot protect themselves.’ Defending the innocent, protecting her friends, even at the expense of herself? Prioritises martial excellence, and being at the frontline of the fight? Yeah thats Rachel.

Gravitation- flight. Can also propel other people into the air, to help or hinder. Can then drop those people from a great height.

Adhesion- Can stick objects to each other, and propel them toward each other. often used to stick people to walls, ceilings, other surfaces

Marco- Lightweaver

‘I will speak my truth.’ Lightweavers are known for self-deception, secrets, and lies, and often cover up their traumas with jokes and deflections. To grow in their powers they must be honest and face up to their demons. Marco is the Animorph who keeps the most secrets (in the early books specifically)

Illumination- Illusions and Light

Transformation- Can turn any object or person into one of 10 essenses.

Elfangor would be a Dustbringer: They’re all about discipline, curiosity, self-mastery, figuring out how things work, and self-restraint. Alternately, he would work very well as a Bondsmith. He unites all the Animorphs together in #1, and is a very prominent leader of the Andalite forces.

Loren is a Windrunner. Protecting those she cares about is a huge thing for her, primarily in Andalite Chronicles. After her memory loss, she struggles more, but you can see it come through a bit with Champ and Tobias post #49.

Alloran as a Lightweaver. Facing difficult truths, dealing with self-delusion, and admitting your mistakes is a lot of what he deals with post-War.

I like Eva as a Truthwatcher. Just like her son, she sees that perfect solution, the bright clear line. In Visser, she knows that the only way to end the war is to stay under Edriss’ control. She faces the truth, even if it is hard

Toby is a Willshaper, like her namesake. Leading the Hork-bajir from such a young age, rallying and fighting for their freedom, raising morale.

My view of Tom may be permanently skewed by Eleutherophobia, but he is an elsecaller! From what we do see of uninfested Tom in canon, we know he’s an excellent basketball player, which would have required a large amount of dedication. Elsecallers are all about reaching their potential, and in Eleutherophobia, he puts in so much work to help out the ex-hosts, burning himself out in the process. He helps out all of his friends, frequently putting their needs before his own. He wants to shape his own life, separate from Jake, and gets into uni to study. He has so much drive, and grit, which is very Elsecaller

Marco rolled his eyes. 'Yeah, we know.’

'I’ve had to think about it because I’ve done the same things you’ve done, Jake. You were the leader, but if you’re a war criminal then so are we for following you.’ She shivered. It was cold and the breeze was gusting. 'I’ve had to make my own peace with things I’ve done.’

Despite myself I was hanging on her words. And despite myself I was remembering kissing her.

'Jake, you can’t…’ She took a deep breath. 'You can’t equate the victim and the perpetrator.’

'So as long as you’re playing defense it’s not possible to commit a war crime?’ I asked. 'That’s pretty close to just saying that the winner makes the rules because it’s the winner who writes the history.’

She grabbed my arm and searched for my eyes, forcing me to look at her. 'No, Jake, it isn’t. There are a lot of close calls in history, lots of wars where the blame is evenly split between the sides. This isn’t one of them. Before they came to Earth no human ever attacked a Yeerk. No human ever harmed a Yeerk. This one is clear: We are the victims. They made war on us.'”

Tom was dead.

It was hard to believe, because the mangled cobra in front of me didn't feel like it was actually his corpse. It was the body of some random snake he'd acquired. But he'd been in there somewhere, buried deep below his scales and his Yeerk.

Either way, there wouldn't be a body to bury. Not a proper, human body, anyway. Not him.

He used to pick me up and let me sit on his shoulder so I could pretend to be Wonder Woman. When I was little, you know? He wasn't much older than me, but he was always bigger. He could do things like pick me up.

We would ignore Jake reminding us that Wonder Woman can't even fly, and Tom would run me around their backyard as fast as he dared.

One time, he tripped, and I fell. Nearly broke my nose. I didn't care. Falling had been a thrill, and I ended up with a small scar to show for it. A really tiny one that you'd never notice unless I told you the story. (It was gone now, of course. It disappeared the first time I morphed.)

He'd felt pretty bad about the whole thing, and insisted that we go to the hospital, even after Uncle Steve gave me a clean bill of health. But that's the kind of person Tom was. He wouldn't hurt a fly.

His blood was still in my mouth. The cobra's blood. I spit it out.

The bear had enjoyed the taste. As for the human, the jury was still out.
