Samurai in FFXIV. Everyone’s otaku wet dream.
after a long day of work i accidentally greeted someone with my reflex customer service “hey how can i help you” and without missing a beat he accidentally said “hey what can i get ya” (he works at starbucks) and that was the closest i’ve ever felt to someone
we were two NPC’s who met irl
Minimum wage: $7.25
$7.25 x 40 hour full time work week: $290
$290 x 4 weeks per month: $1,160
In every Southern state (didn’t have time to look at the rest of the country) you can find some sort of studio apartment for around $500 per month, sometimes less than that. Why bother lying about something so easily disproven?
Because Bernie Sanders supporters aren’t going to fact check him, and they’ll ignore any contrary evidence that’s presented to them anyways.
Things like this really tick me off and It’s not political or anything but it’s the fact that you think all that money is there. Here’s what I mean;
That weekly check comes to, according to you, 290. Most places DO NOT pay for your half hour lunch that is required by law. So your beginning number was wrong. $7.25 x 7.5 hours a day x 5 days a week only gets you $271.88. Most people in America get paid bi-weekly, so let’s double it to get the budget. $543.75. That’s GROSS, not NET. Out of that comes anywhere between 10% and 15% taxes depending on state so we’ll low ball it at 10%. Automatically down to $489.38 a pay check. Now health insurance. Usually anywhere from 70-100 a pay check for the cheapest plans. Again, we’ll low ball and go $70. So now we have $419.39 a paycheck. x 2 = $839.
Eight hundred thirty nine dollars. A MONTH.
But again, you seem to think that’s fair. So let’s proceed. You say rent is $500? Okay. This person now has $339 left to buy groceries for the whole month, pay utilities, car payment, car insurance, and gas money to get to work.
Those are the bare needs. You have to eat. You have to pay for heat, water, garbage removal, gas and or electricity because apartments do not always include things and rarely all of the above. Most cities in America do not have public transportation. Mine doesn’t despite the fact that our population is over 15,000 people, not counting a taxi. If you have a car, you have to pay that. If you have a car, legally you have to have car insurance. You have to pay that. You have to have gas in that car to get to work to make that money.
Now if you can tell me you can get all of that out of $339 you’re lying.
You are so focused on rent that you aren’t thinking about everything else people have to pay for. Rent was an example. This is a breakdown of the budget you gave me and it’s not possible to live off that in 2017 America.
And BECAUSE this person makes over $800 a month, they probably won’t qualify for financial aid or food stamps. $800 is the line in my state where they won’t help you. No food stamps, financial aid, or government housing if you make more than $800 a month.
Why does it bother you that people deserve to live above the poverty line?
The Art of Justin Peters
I am Justin Peters a German digital artist and I merge reality with my imagination using Photoshop to create fascinating surreal artworks.
“Everything you can imagine is real” by Pablo Picasso is a quote I use to describe my work and is in my mind when I think about new concepts. I try to paint my own dreamworld where everything is possible trough the images I combine in Photoshop in an unexpected and uniquely way to surrealistic photo manipulations. I want that the people discover a new and different world when they look at my work and dive into it to show them that everything is possible and could be real if you can imagine it or if they believe in there dreams.

how insidious to make young girls buy hundreds of dollars worth of makeup, to force them to read up on its theory, to make them practice it for hours in order to escape mockery, to make them feel safe only when performing this hyper femininity, and then to even have the audacity to package it in feminist language so that they firmly believe it sets them free.
who called you out on your sloppy wings
I know you probably think you’re really witty, but I just want you to know that you, and all the other people who made that joke, prove my point exactly.
This is why I have an issue with feminists shouting “let women wear make-up”. Like, not only is it expected to wear make-up, but it’s encouraged and the younger the better (cute pinkish lipstick for pre-teen girls, cute and sparkly eyeshadow for pre-teens again)
Whenever I see a post about girls to “LET THEM WEAR MAKE-UP”, well… there’s nothing stopping them or you, really. Actually, it’s quite the opposite. Society pushes you to wear make up and have the most perfect make-up skills ever. And if it takes you 15 minutes for a full contour, shade, highlight, you’re praised.
Seriously, girls get more shit for not wearing make-up.
If you want to fight for the right to wear make-up, please shift to “MEN ARE ALLOWED TO WEAR MAKE-UP”. Also, please fight for the right for girls and women to not wear make-up.
Because for each post of you fighting for girls to have the right to wear make-up because it’s feminist and it will free them, there are ten companies behind your back who wrinkle their hand cause you’re doing the job for them.
I get asked at least once a week why I don’t “just try wearing makeup. It’s super simple you can even learn how on youtube!” I don’t want to.
I don’t like makeup.
I don’t want to wear it.
Or buy it.
Or have anything to do with it.
If you tell me I could use it to cover up my acne, or my red face, and it will feel empowering™ to be able to ‘choose how i look’ you’re a fucking douche and not a feminist at all.
women who wear makeup statistically make more money at the same jobs and skill level as women who don’t. women who wear makeup to interviews are more likely to be hired than women who don’t. women who perform adequate femininity in court are more likely to be acquitted or given the minimum sentence. one of the things taken into consideration by psychiatry and psychology about women seeking treatment is whether they’re wearing makeup – because women who wear makeup are seen as more likely to be sane and/or “responding appropriately.” not even getting into how much so-called “feminist” language on social media is couched in otherizing women who don’t want to, or can’t, put time and money into performing hyperfemininity “for themselves! to feel brave! to show you’re tough! :))))) be beautiful because you’re worth being objectified, girl!”
when women are literally systematically and personally punished for NOT spending time and money on makeup, you absolutely cannot pretend that makeup, as an industry and element of culture, is feminist. no one’s eyeliner is ever going to be sharp enough to slay the patriarchy. seriously.

Unpopular opinion that shouldn’t be unpopular: anti-bullying programs in school that don’t address the root causes of bullying - which are almost invariably larger forms of bigotry and oppression like racism, ableism and homophobia - are completely useless and ultimately futile.
kids get bullied, frequently, because they’re “weird”. but it just so happens that the traits society calls “weird” are overwhelmingly related to poverty, minority religion or ethnicity, neurodivergence, non-straight sexuality, and gender non conformance.
funny, that.

I took some screenshots of this video, about “leftover women” in China, women who are unmarried and over the age of 25. I took screenshots every time someone said something that created a picture with the subtitles that just…. resonated with me. Something women can truly understand.
These women deserve to be heard.

always chill your cookie dough if you want still chewy/soft cookies after a few days (or if you’re shipping them).
keep’s the bastards from spreading out too quickly in the oven and therefor keeps them nice and soft in the middle while keeping them from suffering from that underdone soggy thing that some times happens.
THANK YOU ALTON BROWN
@copperbadge
This site is super informative, and it’s actually one of the sites I consulted when I was concocting the Fuck It Brownies recipe – just tons of good info.
That said…the person doing the testing/eating often has a very specific kind of outcome they want, and it is almost never the outcome I want, which I find kind of hilarious. It’s very much a sense of “thank you for testing and rejecting several recipes, I will take reject #2 because we want drastically different things out of a muffin.”
