Renora Week Day 2- Passions
A day late, but it’s here! Enjoy!
Nora paces back and forth across the dorm room. Ren’s going to be here any minute, and she has to tell him today. She will. It’s just that she needs to figure out what the hell she’s supposed to say because right now she has no idea and this isn’t something she can mess up. Her friends haven’t exactly been helpful, either.
“Just be honest, Nora,” Pyrrha had said. “You’re telling him you love him! I don’t think you can follow a script for that.” And yeah, honest is a good place to start but Nora knows that if she just starts talking without a plan her mind will get ahead of her mouth and it’ll all just turn out messy and jumbled and this has to be perfect.
She asked Jaune for help too. He just laughed and gave her a look.
Which is fair. Jaune’s great but really not the best person to give romantic advice.
It’s just that that doesn’t help her at all. Maybe this was a terrible idea and she should just call the whole thing off and try again some other time-
Then the door opens and Ren steps inside the room and Nora’s heart does that weird skippy thing and she suddenly feels like she can’t spend another second trying to contain the feeling inside her, stronger than the buzz of a thousand lightning bolts.
“Hey Ren!” the greeting comes out closer to a nervous yelp than a hello.
“Hi, Nora.” Ren smiles and dammit, why does Ren have such a nice smile? Nora feels her face get hot as her heartbeat accelerates. She can’t think of anything to say, not when he’s standing right there making her feel all fluttery and nervous and- “…Are you alright?” Nora blinks and realizes Ren is now giving her a concerned look because she’s been standing here blushing and staring for way too long.
“Um, fine! Everything’s fine!” Even to her own ears, Nora’s voice is too high-pitched and tight.
Ren’s still frowning at her though. “Did you drink too much coffee again?”
“There’s no such thing,” Nora replies defiantly, crossing her arms -but Ren doesn’t quite look convinced and if Nora doesn’t just launch into it she’s going to lose her nerve. “Also I need to talk to you about something.”
Ren tilts his head to the side, considering, then walks over and sits down on the side of his bed, gesturing for Nora to take a seat beside him. “By all means.”
Nora sits, but she’s so bursting with nervous energy that sitting still may as well be impossible. Her knee bounces up and down, her fingers drum against the bedframe. “Okay so you know how some people have one thing that they love more than anything else? Like- like a passion. Like Ruby with weapons. Or-”
“You with pancakes?” Ren interjects.
“No interrupting!” Nora shoots him a glare and Ren laughs. Then there’s a pause where Ren’s laugh makes her forget how words work and then she has to remember what she was in the middle of trying to say, before she continues. “But yeah, like that. And when I was little, I never thought I was gonna have something like that, stuff like love or passion was always going to be for people who had stuff like money and houses, until I met you.” She glances at Ren to see how he’s taking this, but his face is somewhere between confused and blank. This isn’t going at all like she’d planned. She should have asked more people to help her. Like… Blake? Maybe? She reads a lot of books about love and stuff, doesn’t she? Well it’s too late now to do anything but plough ahead and hope for the best. “I mean it took a while for me to start feeling that way because I didn’t know you and you barely even spoke and… anyway-”
Ren holds up a hand, shaking his head. “Nora, hold on. Slow down. Feel what way?”
Nora lets out a groan of frustration. Why can’t she be as poetic and fancy sounding as one of those girls in those movies Pyrrha likes so much? Most of them are scrawny and helpless, true, but they can usually give a great speech about love. “Sorry sorry sorry this is coming out all wrong.” She gets to her feet pacing back and forth along the narrow space between the bed and the wall.
Ren gets to his feet and sets his hands on her shoulders. His touch feels electrified, sending sparks into Nora’s skin. “Nora. Breathe.”
Nora does as he instructs, but it’s hard to breathe properly with him standing so close, and for a second Nora is scared she’s going to faint right in the middle of her confession, because that’s just about the only thing that could make this any more of a disaster than it already it. But Ren steadies her, and she lifts her gaze to meet his. “What I’m trying to say, Ren, is that… when you smile at me, I feel invincible. I feel like- like nothing is impossible when I’m with you, and the world suddenly has these bright colours in it when you’re around. You make me feel all those things I never thought I would.”
Nora can tell from Ren’s face that he still doesn’t understand, and she’s out of ways to say it. So she does the one thing she can think of doing- she stands up on her toes and presses her lips against his.
Ren lets out a muffled cry of surprise and Nora jumps back, pressing a hand to her mouth as it suddenly occurs to her that doing that was a bad idea, she’s crossed a line and now Ren is going to hate her and-
Before she can finish the thought Ren’s arm is around her waist and he’s pulling her back towards him, into a kiss, and the fireworks that explode in Nora’s mind drive every last thought from her head.
It might be seconds, or minutes, or hours before they separate- to Nora it feels like days, years- and when they do both of them are breathless. Nora giggles like a giddy schoolgirl. “I love you, Ren,” she says.
Ren raises an eyebrow. “Maybe leading with that would have been helpful.”
“Oh hush. I was nervous!” Nora retorts, but she can’t hide the grin that’s spread itself across her face.
Ren smiles that perfect smile of his again, leaning his forehead into hers. “I love you too, Nora.”
(Renora Week: Bonus)
I spent way too much time trying to figure out the the AU and, in between classes and being back in Charleston for a few days, I didn’t have time to do the bonus and I won’t have time today due to school. But! I did promise to try, so what I’ll do is write a few headcanons/plot points that I would have included and maybe do something on it later during the holiday break assuming my friends don’t kidnap everyday for 3 weeks.
This would have been titled “Windows”
This also would’ve been an AU (funny I how I came up with this one very quickly and DNV took me days 😒😒😒😒)
Modern day America or… whatever mixed demographic country you can think of (Canada, N. Zealand, Aussie, UK, etc… I’m looking at you)
They attend rival high schools (this is already starting to sound cliche and I’m sorry)
Nora would’ve worked as a waitress at a busy carhop (her uniform complete with skates, a hoop skirt, and an ascot) named Comet’s Diner
Ren would’ve worked as a barista at the coffee/tea house across the street. Basically Starbucks, but it’s named The Bean and it’s fictionally better
They never really met but low key keep tabs on each other through the windows (Bazinga, I’ve included the title in my list, I’m pretty much done… JK)
That last one is more stalkery than I meant it to be. They keep tabs on each in a cute way. I’m digging a deeper hole, sorry
Ren works with Blake and Pyrrha (and any other cool, calm, collected character so I guess I’ll throw in Weiss and Oscar, possibly Neptune). Their boss is… I dunno… I’m thinking Glynda, maybe Tai, I’d stretch for Qrow but…
Nora works with Ruby, Yang, and Jaune (and any other fast-paced… eccentric (?) character so we’ll mash Sun and Penny in there, too). Their boss probably would’ve been Qrow because I already had a scene mapped out where Nora is staring across the street and Qrow calls to her to get her head out of clouds and Jaune trips and spills a malt all over her (this is common)
Nora’s work crew is a hilarious mess and the crew at The Bean love watching their shift unfold
This is really just a slice of life fic that should be multiple chapters and not a one shot, but whoops
Neptune pushes really hard for Ren and co to join him in checking out the carhop and getting a chance to chill with his bro Sun
Nora is their server and that’s how she meets Ren
Their meeting is kind of ruined when Ruby is going way too fast and spills a root beer float all over Nora’s uniform
Ren hands Nora his letterman jacket because the drink seeps into her white shirt (on Wednesday they wear white shirts, I dunno)
Indulge me and let’s say that Ren plays baseball at his high school because I don’t like the cookie cutter football trope and soccer/track would probably be too much running for him. So that’s why he has the jacket. That, or it’s a memory of his dad when he was in high school either one
Huge aws from their friends watching him give up his/his dad’s letterman
Yang is their new server when Nora goes to change and gives Ren a huge, totally not suspicious wink that definitely doesn’t have any important meaning (s*a*r*c*a*s*m)
Nora conveniently forgets to return his jacket
Ren visits the carhop once a week. Nora is always his server. She actually memorizes his order, but she always “forgets” the jacket.
I think I’m gonna change the title to “Lettermans”
Yang gets sick of watching those two and hands him Nora’s number one day when she goes to get coffee
Friendship, hanging out, football games, fun times, the group unites as one, yay
Ren let’s Nora keep his letterman
Jump ahead two years and lets call them seniors in high school, so they started working sophomore year
I wanted a tad bit of conflict where Nora gets upset and finally returns the jacket and let’s Jaune serve him for a little while, but that’s really cliche so I’m unsure
Really awkward group dynamic
Ren waits until after her shift a week or two later to return HER jacket and make amends
He slips up and tells her that he like likes her
Extremely awkward pause
Nora takes the plunge to kiss his cheek
She shoots and she hella scores because he turns to actually kiss her and holy shit, soft lips galore
Jump a few months ahead into summer
Ren and his shift-mates are waiting in the car at Comet’s when Nora comes to take their order and plants a kiss on his lips
*swipes brow* That was a mess of jumbled thoughts and I dont know how I’m going to make that fit into a one shot (probably the same I did DNV), but yeah. I’m sowwy that I didn’t actually write a fic, but I will make am effort to do so over my long, holiday break. Happy Renora Week and may those two end up super happy and together-together for the rest of V5 and other volumes to come.

Support (Renora Week: Life or Death)
Warning: Death, life support (is that too much of a spoiler… It is in the title and the prompt. I just don’t want anyone getting too upset. Whatever, just read if you want).
He’d been sick for weeks with a disease that was undergoing research and, as of currently, incurable. It started with light coughing, then came the shortness of breath that used be rare becoming a constant. Ren never had the most stable lungs, but they were better than other hunters. No one ever considered him to have an illness, though.
It had been late in afternoon when he collapsed, struggling to breathe, and Nora dragged him to the nearest hospital. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, the doctor said. Incurable, he said. Something about a breathing machine, IVs, a heart moniter.
Life support.
After almost a month, they were running low on funds. Since when did medical bills get so high? Nora tried everything she could to get extra lien to keep him alive. She took an extra mission, she assisted her friends whenever she could, and took odd jobs around Patch in between watching her three children and visiting Ren everyday. It wasn’t enough.
“Nora,” he called to her one afternoon under his ventilator.
She looked up from the paperwork she all but wrangled to make sense of. He looked miserable with pale skin and sagging eyes, but she’d never see him as anything but amazing even when he lay sick and drooping. “Yes, Ren,” she chirped with a bright smile that she forced a little more these days.
“Cut it.”
There was a pause. She knew exactly what he was talking about. “Cut what? The air conditioner? I can turn it down or-“She was already up and across the room to turn down the air.
"You know what I’m talking about, Nora. Cut the support.”
“No,” came the simple reply.
“Yes. There isn’t anything they can do. We’re dragging it out-”
“Ren, they could find something to help you any day now,” she whispered. She had yet to face him. If she did, the meltdown that she feared would rear it’s ugly head and with Ren in this state, she couldn’t be helped.
“We both know that isn’t true. We’re delaying this. I already know this is draining our bank accounts.”
She had enough. Nora turned around and instantly felt her eyes sting. “No, it isn’t. We’re-”
He held up an envelope that said “NOTICE” in large, red letters. “Please, Nora. Bring the kids tomorrow, so I can see them. And let everyone know for me.”
“But…” her train of thought trailed as she looked at him. His eyes were pained, brows scrunched, and clear streaks ran down to his chin. It was hard for him, too. She nodded and went back to his bedside. A chaste kiss met his cheek and a warm hand enclosed his and squeezed. “I have to go run a few errands, but I’ll be back tomorrow. Should I bring Jaune and Pyrrha?”
Ren nodded and stared at the wall ahead of him, his thoughts drowning out the overhead television. He wanted some time alone, she could tell.
Nora got in what would soon be her car, pulled out her scroll, and went to her messenger app. She spotted the exact chat she was looking for: Rainbow Buddies, aptly named by Ruby Rose. “Hey… Ren wants to cut the support tomorrow… I can tell he doesn’t really want to, but-” She erased the last sentence. “Can you guys please call him and talk to him, even if it’s for a few minutes? I think he needs it right now.” She clicked send and shut her scroll off. She’d no doubt be flooded with calls and messages, but she just wanted time to think.
She decided to take a drive around the island before picking up the kids.
~*~
The door opened to a tear stained Jaune who immediately engulfed her while she clutched onto the back of his shirt. She felt a hand rubbing her back and she turned to see Pyrrha with red, puffy eyes and flushed cheeks.
The small woman pulled away. “He wants to see you tomorrow. Are you free in the afternoon?”
The couple nodded and each took one of her hands leading her inside. Five children, one just entering his teens, sitting in front of a television watching a happy, Disney movie. How fitting. They each turned around and their eyes brightened. “Mom,” three of them called. “Aunt Nora,” exclaimed the other two.
Her three, Kensley, Ming, and Iman ran to her to greet her, but stopped short noticing her saddened eyes. She got on her knees to look at them, though Kensley, at thirteen was already reaching her own height. “We need to talk when we get home. Go get your things and say bye to Louise and Eros and say thank you to your godparents for letting you stay the today.”
The trio exchanged a worried glance and got their bags. After exchanging hugs with whom they called cousins, they bowed to their godparents, gave them hugs (Jaune and Pyrrha practically held them), and quietly headed to the car.
The radio normally filled the silence followed by bickering over the station, followed by singing. The ride home this evening was still.
~*~
Nora sat them in the living room next to one another and took a moment to look them over. She saw Ren in every single one of them. Their thirteen year old son’s, calm, magenta orbs. Their eleven year old daughter’s olive skin and stark, black hair. Even their adopted ten year old began to take on some of his features, like his small, but passionate facial expressions.
When she broke the news to them, she’d gotten the response she expected. Kensley looked broken and disappointed as quiet sobs racked his thin frame. The youngest, Iman, voiced nothing. She remained stoic and unmoving, but the streaks down her cheek gave her away. Ming reacted the worse. She screamed, she kicked, she cried, she called Nora a killer for turning off his life support, she said that she hated her and would never forgive her. Nora knew that she didn’t mean it, but it still felt like a knife had torn through her. She still felt like a failure despite her husband’s wish.
~*~
The next afternoon, the Ren Family made their way to the hospital. Ming gave her the silent treatment. The Arc’s were already there having seen the sick man before they arrived. Nora sent the kids in first, then blankly stared at the cream walls. She caught glimpses of the conversation: some yelling, crying, but many laughs.
“Promise me that you’ll be good for your mom and look after each other, okay,” she heard. Everything was muffled after that. The kids would be out at any moment and then she’d have to face him one last time. “Tell mom I want to see her.”
The three trudged past her and sat around Pyrrha and Jaune who happily lended them a shoulder. Nora slowly walked in and closed the door behind her. She turned and he greeted her with a small smile. She approached his bed cautiously.
“Do you remember when we first met?” Of course. “Looks like you’re saving me once again.” She huffed a small laugh. “Everyone came to visit yesterday. Not Weiss, but she did call me while she was away on her mission. Thank you.” Nora nodded. It was silent between them. She wouldn’t look at him, but all he did was stare at her. His dulled eyes boring into her, memorizing her once more. “Do you remember the orphanage and Miss Alice? Remember when you found your semblance? That scared the shit out of me. I thought I lost you."
An inkling of a smile took the corners of her lips. "That was a crazy Thursday.”
“Remember our combat teacher, Tana? Or, when we first got into Beacon? You were so excited and nervous. I still think about the day Beacon fell. I was worried about you the whole time.” Her smile left as she recalled the same night. “Remember our first kiss? Once we got to Mistral? Your lips tasted like syrup, by the way.” She laughed again. “Oh, and at Kuroyuri, I discovered that polka dots look really great on you.” She laughed even louder. “I like to think back to our first time, and our wedding, and our honeymoon. You were so excited when you found out you were pregnant, but you were so miserable during it. I almost couldn’t keep up with your cravings. Then you got pregnant again, and Ming drove you insane. Iman was such a blessing especially since you didn’t want to go through another nine months of hell."
Her laughter soon dissolved into tears. Their lives started out so horribly, but it melted away into something resembling amazing. It was as if all of that was being torn away yet again. She felt his hand, clammy yet firm, grasp her hand.
He’d taken the IV out of his arm. There would be no need for it soon. "I filled out all of the paperwork and everything yesterday. They said they didn’t want to move me into hospice then because so many people kept coming in and out, it’d cause confusion.” The salty liquid continued to pour as she looked at the bland walls above his head. “Nora, please look at me.” She shut her eyes tight and opened them.
His eyes seemed to brighten up, but they quickly got watered down. She wanted to say it, those three words. She couldn’t say them. A shaking hand went to tap his nose, but the mask…
“I love you, too. I miss you already.” Her forehead met his. Her teardrops fell and fused with his own. “I want to kiss you.”
“But the-”
“I know, Nora.” His vacant hand slid into her locks. His eyes all but begged.
She quietly accepted it and locked in their fate. She removed the mask from his face and pressed her lips to his. His hands clutched and clung to her hand and her hair. His last breath left him quickly.
Nora didn’t need to hear the elongated beep of the heart monitor to know that he’d left them.
~*~
Over a year later, a widowed mother of three sat in what used to be a shared master bedroom early in the afternoon dressed in an forest green dress. She reached for the drawer in the nightstand and pulled out a worn, pink box with a faded, yellow crown. It’d been given to her over 15 years before. She pulled out an enveloped near tattered from the amount of times they were separated on this day.
“Open when it’s our anniversary.”
A/N: It’s done. This actually broke me to write it and hit a tad too close to home. I’m too tired to do free choice, but I’ll try. Ugh, it’s a little too melodramatic, but I’ve never done a death prompt before, so let’s call this a work in progress. I considered killing off Nora and making this Ren-centric, but I’d already done quite a few from 3rd person Ren-limited POV, so I decided against it. I did as much research on COPD and life support as I could before I called it quits and just wrote, so a lot of stuff may be off. Geez, this fic legit left me emotionally exhausted. I had to stop every few paragraphs to cry 😒😒😒 I’m supposed to be a badass and this ship is ruining my whole shortie, bad girl persona.
Now And Forever
*Author’s Notes: Hey guys! Sorry I’m late! This week was hell! So, enjoy this Medieval (with a bit of GoT) AU (or endure!)*
The World of Remnant was a magnificent, yet dangerous place. Therefore, from the ashes of the Great War, they united. The Kingdoms of Mantle, Atlas, Vacuo, Vale, Mistral and Menagerie have all swore loyalty to the royal House, chosen by them, who resided in Oniyuri. The Crown was held by House Ren.
The current king was King Li I, surnamed “The Wise King”. This king had only one child, The Crown Prince Lie, considered the most handsome man in the entire Remnant. He inherited his father’s ebony hair, straight nose and also his jawline. The rest of his traits were similar to his mother’s. The bright magenta eyes, the pale skin, the warm smile.
The King also had a main counselor, named Fenrir Valkyrie. Like his ruler, he also had one child; a girl named Nora, who also lived in the castle, as an attendant of the Crown Prince’s, accompanying him wherever he went.
The time has passed, and it was finally time that the Prince finally got married. Also, the Vytal Tournament was drawing near. Thus, the King and Queen decided that, at the end of the Tournament, their son would propose to one of the many noblewomen present at the event. Even if the young boy didn’t particularly agreed to his parents’ decisions. The moment the announce was made, all the lords and noble people who had daughters to marry confirmed their presence at the grandious
Trying to clear his mind, he decided to go to the gardens and stay under the azure sky, so he would find a way to deal with the situation he had been dragged in. He inspired the fresh air of the evening, his mind still tormented.
“I see something is bothering you, Your Grace.” Ren heard a voice from behind. It was her. It was always her, to his relief.
“Indeed, there’s something that’s bothering me.”
“Would you be so kind, as to explain the situation that erased your smile?” asked Nora gently, yet firmly, willing to help her prince.
“My parents… want me to marry a noblewoman by the end of the Vytal Tournament, despite my wishes to wait for a few more years.” said the prince, sighing as he revealed the source of his sorrow to his one and only confident.
The young girl felt her heart sink as he said those words, too dull for her years to hear. She had loved the Prince since the moment she saw him for the first time, when he decided to have her as an attendant. She was the daughter of the King’s counselor, but she was a servant nonetheless. “He is a royalty, he would NEVER marry a poor servant like myself…” she thought to herself, not being able to stop her chest from hurting.
“What do you think of this situation?”
“Excuse me?”
“I asked you about your thoughts regarding this situation.” said Ren, as he noticed that his guardian seemed to have her mind absent.
Nora initially hesitated, but finally answered. “It is not in my power to share my opinions about something this important with you, Your Grace.”
“Oh… I understand. Well, if that’s how you feel, you may leave now. Thank you.”
Nora bowed in front of him and left, away from the one who had stolen her heart with the beauty of his face and heart.
After meditating for a long while, a moment of clarity struck the magenta-eyed boy, as he finally found a solution to his problem. He just had to wait until the Vytal Tournament ended.
(Two months later)
The big day had finally come, as the Vytal Festival Tournament had just begun. Delighted, the royal couple has been waiting for that day, while their son just put his ultimate plan together.
During the fights, each volunteer had to choose among the weapons they were given and to fight until either contestant had his Aura depleted. Before the Great War, there were cases when they fought even to death. But new times required new solutions.
As the royal family and their conselor took their seats in the balcony specially reserved from them, a firm voice announced the first fighters. Jaune Arc, the descendant of the King of Vale; and Sky Lark.
“Now, let the battle begin!” shouted Fenrir.
The battle was intense from the very beginning. While Jaune used a sword and shield, Sky decided he used a halberd. With the force of a lion, Sky wielded the huge weapon, but his opponent always managed to dodge his attacks on time or deplete them with his shield. But Jaune wasn’t running from the fight. So, when he had occasions, he swung his sword, slashing and serving critical hits, powerful enough to decrease the amount of Sky’s Aura. In the end, with a final blow, Jaune finally depleted his enemy’s Aura.
“The battle is over! The winner is Jaune Arc!” Fenrir announced on his loud voice. As the crowd cheered and acclaimed, Ren was clapping absently, as he started waiting for the big moment. “Soon enough.”
(5 fights later)
“The Tournament is finally over! The winner who has the honor to get this trophy to his Kingdom,” Fenrir rose the big golden trophy, “is Jaune Arc!”
At the announce, the crowd frantically cheered and clapped, as the young blonde boy drew closer, so he could claim his prize.
“Congratulations, young man! You brought honor and pride not only to your House, but to your Kingdom as well! You should be happy with your performance!” the King congratulated him.
“Thank you, Your Grace!” said Jaune, as he kneeled in front of the King, taking the trophy from his hands.
“And now, the real reason why we’re here has finally come. Now, it’s time that my son finally chose his bride. And for that, he will be given a crown of pink roses, that he will put on the head of his chosen one!” said the King, as he gave his son the crown made by 18 pale pink roses.
As he went among the people, the girls who were desperate to become his wife, started pushing each other, close to starting a riot. All the time, Nora watched the show from the first row, and closed her eyes in pain. “There is absolutely no way is he going to choose me. I am just a servant. I am not even allowed to–”
Her mind seemed to have stopped working, as she felt something being put on her head. Something like… a crown. And, as she slowly opened her eyes, he could see him putting his both hands on her cheeks, leaning in for a kiss. After the first contact of their lips, they both smiled at each other.
The crowd was in shock in awe. They have never seen a royalty falling in love with their servant, even if their family wasn’t poor either. A servant was a servant.
Ren grabbed Nora’s head, bringing her in front of his parents. They were both surprised by their son’s decision to marry his attendant. The counselor was no exception.
“Son… What is the meaning of this?”
“Father, this is the woman I want to marry.” Ren’s voice could be heard in the coliseum.
“But, Your Grace… I am nothing more than a servant. I am not suitable to become your wife.” said Nora shyly.
“Says who? You are not just a servant. You are the daughter of the Counselor, so you can’t say you’re no one. And you’re the one for me, no matter what other people say.” Ren faced his parents. “My dear father, my beloved mother, honorable advisor.. If you don’t mind, I want you all to give me your blessings, since I shall not change my mind!”
As minutes passed, everyone was waiting for the King’s reaction. At last, he asked his own child. “My son, are you sure about this decision?”
“Yes, father. I am.”
“Well, in that case… My dear Fenrir, I think we should start the preparations. We have a wedding to organize!” acclaimed the King. “Unless you have something else to say.”
“No, Your Grace. I- I shall go start the preparations immediately.” said Fenrir, with a shade of joy in his voice.
Ren turned to his beloved. “I am yours evermore. And I hope you’ll be mine.”
“Now and forever, my Prince. Now and forever…”
(2 weeks later)
In the enormous Chapel of the Great Six, the ceremony had already begun. The young bride took off the pink cape she wore, replacing it with a dark green one, who had the lotus flower on its back.
“And now it’s time for the wedding vows!” said the priest, as he started wrapping a white ribbon around the hands of the groom and bride.
“Father, Smith, Warrior… Mother, Maiden, Crone, Stranger…” Ren and Nora said simultaneously.
“I am hers, and she is mine…” “I am his, and he is mine…”
“From this day, until the end of my days.”
After the last words have been spoken, the priest confirmed their marriage, allowing them to kiss, to the joy of the invited ones.
“I will always love you, my beautiful thunder flower. Now and forever!” Ren said, kissing his wife’s forehead.
“Now and forever…” Nora murmured, as she leaned in, so she could touch his lips with her own.
*A.N.: Aaaaaand, done. Forgot about it in the drafts, had to finish it, and the Life and Death one will come in a few hours. Hope you liked it! Alissa out!*
Keep Talking
Renora Week Day 7 - Life and Death
Summary: Ren has never been one for words, but while bleeding out and losing consciousness in the back of an ambulance, Nora needs him to keep talking if he is to remain alive.
@renora-week
“Hold on, Ren! Keep holding on.”
The doors of the ambulance slammed behind them. Ren lay in his stretcher, blood swallowing the towel staunching the stab wound in his stomach. Nora sat by his head, brushing bangs from half-lidded eyes and grasping his hand. His grip was almost non-existent.
“Don’t let him lose consciousness,” instructed the paramedic.
Nora nodded, not daring to rip her eyes away from him for a moment.
“How do you feel.” He didn’t answer. “C’mon, Ren. Tell me.”
“It hurts.” His voice was rusty, strained, and gurgling, like he was forcing out words with shredded vocal cords. “I want…” he trailed off.
“Want what?”
He coughed, spraying flecks of blood. “I want it to end.”
Cold seized her heart. “Not now,” she said. “Later.” He didn’t say anything. He stared blankly at nothing. “What will our next date be?”
“I don’t- I don’t know.”
“Please! Anything you want. I’ll organise everything. I don’t care how outrageous or cheesy or dumb it is. I’ll do it.”
“I can’t think.”
“Do they slip away, the thoughts?”
He nodded, but she already knew that. She needed to ask him something he already knew, something rehearsed that he didn’t need to think about. Something that reminds him what he lives for.
“Tell me about how you named StormFlower.”
She recalled the memory when they received their completed weapons well. The warmth in her chest prevented her from ignoring her romantic feelings any longer, because he could never stop being the wonderful, amazing Lie Ren her heart demanded to love.
“Flower,” he began, “to avenge the family I lost. Storm…” He trailed off again.
“No, no, this is my favourite part. Keep going!”
“…to protect the family I gained- with you.”
“And you’re going to stick around to protect your family for even longer, aren’t you?”
No answer. Did he not hear her, or was he giving up? Either way, Nora couldn’t stand the silence. “Are you going to leave me?”
His eyes drifted closed. “No! We made a promise. We’re going to always be there for each other. We’ll make it through everything.” She peppered his hand with kisses. She tapped his cheek with her other hand, doing everything she could to keep him awake. “Are you going to break our promise, Ren?”
His eyes flickered open ever so slightly. Nora had never been more relieved to see that hint of pink in her life. (And that was saying something.) Even better was the one word he croaked out. “No.”
“Why?”
“Because I love you.”
“I love you too, Ren. I’ll do anything to keep you here with me.”
His eyes drooped closed again.
“Stop. You were doing so well. Open your eyes!”
“The- the light.”
“Is it too bright?”
He nodded so subtly that anyone other than Nora would’ve missed it. She leaned over him, using her own head as a shade. The faintest of smiles crossed his lips. “I like you this close.”
She allowed a giggle to escape through her tears and pecked him on the lips. Even when dying, her Ren made her feel like the most beautiful person in all of Remnant.
“Almost there,” the paramedic announced.
Nora responded with a smile and turned back to her best friend. “Listen to me, Ren, and show me that you’re listening.” He nodded.
“In a few minutes, I can’t follow you. You are to stay awake until they put you under for surgery.”
He nodded.
“You will likely be in a coma for a few days or a week.”
He nodded again.
“It’s your job to wake up, alive and well. When you do, I’ll be right by your side.”
He squeezed her hand. “I look forward to it.”
“And for every day I am without you, you owe me a stack of pancakes, for making me feel so lonely.”
“Deal.”
She smiled for him like she never smiled for anyone else, with her eyes filled with every ounce of love she had for him. There was just one last thing she needed to say, in case this really was the last moment she would ever have with him. She kissed his nose. “Boop.”
“Boop…”
The doors flew open and the paramedics pulled Ren’s stretcher out. She scrambled out and jogged next to him, finding his hand again as they turned corner after corner. She gripped the metal rail and kept her eyes locked with his until his hand slipped from her grasp. The double doors flapped, and became still.
Nora’s brave face crumbled as she fell to her knees. She cocooned herself in her arms and legs and cried harder than she had ever done in her life. The tears cascaded down as she wailed, not giving a single fuck about the other people in the hospital. She wondered if Ren heard. She wouldn’t be surprised, given how often he listened to her.
He’ll make it, she assured herself, He’ll make it…
Author’s Notes
I actually have a written conclusion where you find out Ren’s fate, but I chose to leave it out. I think the uncertainty is more powerful.
This was inspired by a story I heard from the Orlando night club mass shooting. There was a guy bleeding out, and since there were no available ambulances, one of the police cars decided to drive him to hospital. Another guy who didn’t know the injured person rode in the back of the car with him, and the policeman instructed him to keep the injured person talking so they remained conscious.

Renora Week Day 6 - An AU
Summary: Ren and Nora insist they’re just childhood friends, but things become really complicated when their subscribers decide to play matchmaker. The last thing they want is a Truth or Dare livestream, but that one request floods social media.
Prompt from @bad-rwbyaus. This is an amazing AU. Shut up. (I love your blog~!) I think it was a submission from @rubyrose. Haha. I actually wrote it. The worst RWBY AU. (Please don’t be mad I just think the situation is hilarious and you deserve credit for the original idea if it is yours and I thank you for the inspiration 😊)
Strongly recommend you read this before the fic.

Renora Week Day 7: Life or Death
hah you thought this was going to be angst? hell naw get ready for some slightly overdramatic, pregnant!Nora fluff
“Ren Ren Ren Ren Ren!”
Ren jolted awake to Nora’s desperate yells, throwing the blankets off of them both and grabbing for his weapon on the nightstand. “What’s wrong?”
Nora took a deep breath, one hand on her swollen stomach. Her distressed face was lit by the moonlight streaming in through their window. “I need one of your green smoothies. Right now.”
Ren fell back against the pillow, calming his pounding heart. “You don’t even like them.”
“No, they’re disgusting. But the babies need them. Right now.”
“It’s 2:37 AM, Nora.”
“Which is now smoothie time.” She stuck out her bottom lip and rubbed both hands over her belly. “Pleaaase?”
“Mkay, c’mon,” he mumbled, swinging his feet out of bed and rubbing his eyes. “I don’t even know if we have the stuff for it, though.”
She lurched out of bed, taking a moment to balance her very pregnant stomach. “If we don’t, will you pleaaaaase go get it? I swear I feel like I’m gonna die if I don’t drink it soon. Please.”
“‘Course, lightning bug.”
“Yay!” She grabbed his hand and led her half-asleep hubby to the kitchen, waddling adorably. Ren bumped into the doorway to the kitchen, as his eyes were closed, letting Nora lead him.
Fortunately, they had the necessary ingredients, so Ren did not have to make a midnight run to try to find algae. He mixed it up, blended it, and poured it into a nice, tall cup – and stuck a pink bendystraw into it. Nora snatched it from his hands and slurped it up happily, occasionally making a disgusted face. When finished, she flopped against him, humming happily.
“You saved me!” she cried out, reaching up to give him a kiss. “I was mere inches from death, and – ooh!” She looked down at her stomach. “They kicked!”
Ren, a sleepy smile on his face, pressed a hand to her stomach – only to have it fly off. “I think they got your strength.”
Nora giggled, and then a thought crossed her mind. “Hey Ren?”
“Yeah?”
“As long as we’re up, can we make pancakes?”
“Is this also life-and-death?” he chuckled, rubbing the last of the sleep out of his eyes.
“Maaaaybe,” she laughed. “Is that a yes?”
“When is it ever a no?” he chuckled, bending down to get a pan out of the cupboard.
“Boop~!” she sang, dancing over to get out the flour.
“Love you, too, lightning bug,” he yawned.
After all, pancakes taste great at 3 AM.

Renora Week Day 6: AU
College AUs are stuck in my brain right now, so let’s goooooo
- The pair of them still being orphans who grew up together; they got into college on scholarships. Nora is majoring in computer engineering with a minor in programming, while Ren is a double-major in Animation and Culinary Arts – which is a bit rough on him, as they’re separate parts of their university, so he spends a lot of time on busses
- Freshman year was difficult for them, since they weren’t used to being apart so long… they drove Nora’s roommate crazy, since they were always together, and moved out of the dorms for the rest of their university life. They share an apartment with Jaune and Pyrrha, whom they met through the Disney club.
- Nora still can’t handle coffee very well; it makes her too hyper-active to focus. Instead, she and Ren both drink far too much tea. Ren tried the type of chocolate that was injected with extra caffeine, and it did not end well. Neither of them ever tried caffeine pills, especially not after seeing what happened to Jaune when he had three trying to stay awake to finish a paper.
- Nora is one of the few college students who actively schedules 8AM classes, since she’s up and functioning by that time anyway. Ren refuses to sign up for anything before 11 AM, since he knows he cannot function even if he makes it there in time.
- They’re both rather active with the activist groups on campus, especially for equal rights.
- Nora rarely bothers painting her nails unless Ren is doing his. She’s quite good at braiding his hair, though, and often helps him pin it up to fit under a hair net for his cooking classes. Ren commonly wears ace colors, and Nora bounces along with him to the LGBTQIA+ meetings.
- They got together-together during the summer between high school and college, and stayed together-together forever – despite many people hitting on both of them.
- They’re that couple that works out together. Ren spots Nora during her weight-lifting, and Nora tags along to his yoga classes. He still makes the disgusting green smoothies. Nora still refuses to drink them, instead opting to eat the more palatable ingredients raw.
- Nora is very good at procrastinating on homework for her non-Major classes. For classes related to her major, however, she finishes everything early – it’s just easy for her. She sees the matrix. Ren has no idea what any of her things mean, but is impressed by his brilliant gf. Nora is always willing to taste-test Ren’s practice assignments for culinary school, and to model poses for animation.
- They have a shared hatred for the elevators in the library, as they were all horribly rickety, and their clunks promised certain death.
- Both graduated and got job offers right away because this is a story and I want my babies to be happy. They rescued several doggos and cats and lived happily ever after and had several kids. Yes good.
