I’d like to believe he’s part of Agent Smartlit’s secret squad (which I made an insignia for based off the Lost Bots’).  He’s also very passive aggressive (hence the name) and Bonz-Eye…really doesn’t like him I want to draw him interacting with Bonz-Eye soon LOL.  I’m already so attached to this guy except the only reason I’m attached to him is 100% stuff I just made up about him, because he doesn’t have a bio or anything canon to go off of besides like…one picture

i’m assuming you mean “they” as writers for canon transformers media and like. i do not have the time to get into the bullshit of how a lot of the misogyny the transformers fandom perpetuates COMES from canon. authors like simon furman hate women so so deeply their work is infused with it, and for a while that work was canon. just because it was officially published doesn’t mean it has to be respected. and it isn’t respected. by like anyone. it was retconned. i understand what you’re trying to say, but your “now now” tone is not appreciated. male writer have and continue to try to justify female transformers as an “other” so this “well sometimes writers use it” doesn’t fly with me

To clarify, I meant fandom writers.

I don't really know if it's been used by official writers that way, but the amount of times I've seen mech used to refer solely to men on ao3 irks me. And it'll still irk me even if official media uses it.

I do agree that a lot of fandom misogyny comes from canon. The aligned continuity explanation of "only 1 out of 13 transformers are women because all women descended from Solus Prime" is such a blatant excuse to not include more women in the franchise. And my beef with Furman will forever be on sight for what he did in both the marvel and idw continuities.

i’m realizing i lowkey misread your reply just a little bit and i do apologize for that but ive become very jaded when it comes to the tone of replies because i keep getting “i agree with your point BUT” specifically in regard to any critique of misogyny i have. ill get “i agree with what you’re saying but make your own post” ill make my own post and then get “i agree with what you’re saying but you’re targeting the wrong branch of the franchise” or “i agree but x y and z also exists so” i can’t criticize the fandom. i can’t criticize the writers. i can’t criticize the big multimillion company behind the franchise. no matter where i go or how i approach it. whether i approach it jokingly and more lighthearted or genuinely seriously im dismissed because everyone would prefer to exist comfortably than have to have difficult conversations. and the thing is the point that’s trying to be made TO ME is the same point im making. it doesn’t matter that male characters have mech, its not the equivalent to femme or fembot since those are inherently tied to gender while mech derives from mechanical or mechanoid and was applied a gender to specifically other women. taking a term that has no gender and applying gender to it to try to seem “above gender” while still using femme and fembot is ridiculous and seemingly something we agree on.

For me this isn't even about empathy or sympathy (though there's value in those as well), it is just straight-up a human rights thing. Once you have decided that there is *any* category of human that can be treated as less-than-human you've said that humanity is conditional, and so are the rights that come with it. You've already lost, you've granted the fascists their point because *you agree with them* that some people don't deserve to be treated like humans.

This is, unironically, why I’m pro-life as well as deeply opposed to the Trump administration and especially how it’s treating immigrants.

All human beings have human rights. Every abuse starts with someone deciding one part of that statement isn’t true: that either a particular group of humans doesn’t count as “real” humans, or that not all humans have base human rights that should always be respected.

If you say the immigrant, the queer person, the fetus, the criminal, the woman, the disabled person, the person of a different race or class or nationality than yours, etc. isn’t human or doesn’t deserve the same human rights as everyone else? You have already agreed with the fascists. You have accepted their basic premise. And you can therefore become complicit in truly terrible things.

Saying that fetuses have rights equal to humans is completely contradictory, actually, because fetal rights are necessarily asserted only at the expense of someone else's rights. In order for fetuses to have the same rights as humans, you are eliminating the right to bodily autonomy of people who can become pregnant.

It means you value the life of the fetus more than the life of the mother, and more than the concept of bodily autonomy which is necessary for survival.

If you're anti-abortion, you should also be pro-forced-organ-donation. While the donors are alive.

Sound unethical? Sound like an egregious overstep of the government? Sound like you want to make a determination of what your organs are used for?

Good. It should. Apply that energy to pregnancy.

This is a little dumb, but I think rewatching Steven Universe has cemented my apathy towards sparklings and transformers reproducing.

There's this flashback episode where Rose Quartz, Steven's mom, is talking about how amazing it is that humans are always growing and changing and creating life in a way her species can't (I'm really not doing it justice), and that's what I want for Transformers! They have different ways of creating new bots, but they can't age and develop the way humans can. Their human friends get to grow and learn about the world about them, meanwhile the bots burst to life from the Well, or from cloning, or being built, or whatever else fully formed and knowing the gist of what they're here for.
