BIG fan of when a character’s dialogue is a massive understatement on how they’re doing. They’re too out-of-it or in too much pain to actually communicate it coherently, so they end up saying the most general obvious statement of all time and worry everyone more.

Sky-high, obvious fever and all they can say is “I don’t think I feel good.” Extremely painful, apparent injury and what they say is just “it hurts.” No specifics—they can’t think clearly enough for that.

S2 episode Conversion, a few days after the administration of the cure. John Sheppard woke up too soon into his recovery; his feral self escaped and was severely wounded before his recapture. Now? Confusion, frustration, and guilt mix in the heavy fog of painkillers. His remaining Iratus instincts are making him too aware of his vulnerability. Aches and discomfort linger: his body is broken, he is almost entirely immobilised, and he doesn’t fully recognise himself. The battle for his humanity is not yet over. Thankfully, he has people for him here...

An injured character has a sudden spasm of pain and can only gasp, freeze, and clutch at the nearest object as they ride it out, body curled and tense against the surge of pain washing through them, hands clenched and clinging to whatever's closest for an anchor until the pain subsides.

The Whumpee was locked somewhere by their own people, for their own good or for a good reason. Maybe they are in quarantine, or in isolation, or in the brig for a minor thing.

It was meant to be temporary, or for there to be people checking on them and taking care of them.

But then something happens. Whumpee's people are under attack, there is a natural disaster, some glitch put everyone in lockdown, or just anything bigger is happening and keeping everyone away from Whumpee. As a result, Whumpee is left alone, where they are locked up.

Maybe Whumpee was delirious or possessed or is amnesic, and now wakes up alone and confused, with no one answering. Maybe Whumpee knows that something is happening and fears the worst for their friends. Maybe they are unaware that the others have a good reason to be kept out, and so Whumpee thinks they have been abandoned or are being punished.

Maybe it lasts more than a few hours and Whumpee has to find water or starts feeling hungry. Or feels too hot or too cold if there is something up with the place they are locked in. Maybe it's pitch dark or way too bright. Too silent, or maybe there is an alarm ringing nonstop. Maybe the Whumpee was hurt and needs more medical attention, or their painkillers. Maybe Whumpee is starting to go stir crazy.

Dangerous Whumpee

CW: Restraints, muzzled, collared

Whumper keeps Whumpee in an excessive amount of restraints (can’t move an inch for chains, collared, muzzled) to ensure that they won’t break out - even if Whumpee is completely cooperative

Whumpee who does fight back, who bites, claws, scratches, does everything they can to cause as much damage to Whumper as possible

Whumper who “has to” keep Whumpee constantly sedated

Whumpee is a danger to themself, intentionally or not, so Whumper has to protect them before they fatally injure themselves

Nonhuman Whumpee is percieved as dangerous and muzzled/shock collared before they can plead their case, if they even can

Caretaker who is scared of Whumpee!

Stranger Caretaker arriving to rescue Whumpee after defeating Whumper but hesitating when they realise who or what Whumpee is

Whumpee’s hope turning to dread as they see this, and silently begging for mercy

Whumpee who lashes out at Caretaker, who hurts then one day, and guilt hits them at full force

Whumpee who believes they’re a danger to Caretaker and takes it upon themself to remove themself from the equation

Caretsker who flinches when Whumpee moves suddenly

I've finally finished writing the sequel (title to come) to this fanfic (Predators, preuys, and humanity). I will have to go through the long process of proofreading and rewriting/ correcting the sequel, but I shall start posting it soon. So in the meantime, this is an already completed one I had fun with!

I love me a Whumpee who has responsibilities

After the whump, they can't just recover, no, they have things to do. People who need them. Duties that no one else will do.

There's no time for recovery. They need to lead. They need to keep going.

They can't let everyone down, can they?

When the living weapon/ the soldier/ the specialist/ whichever usually lethal whumpee is affected by something so deeply that it leaves them pacified.

Their anger or violence is neutralised. They are unable to call upon their usual ability to hurt or kill. They are not lashing out. You could hurt them, and they would not defend themselves. Maybe they are like lobotomized. Too calm. Maybe even like zombified. Maybe even pliable and obedient.

Maybe they were drugged, or very feverish. Or technology was used against them to affect them, or perhaps they were magically brainwashed. Or magically neutralised if powers are involved.

Or maybe they were somehow made to be emotionally so disturbed or tortured that they are truly brainwashed or too afraid to lash out.

Maybe they had amnesia, brain damage, or brain surgery, and it changed their personality so entirely.

At any rate, their friends/ team/caretaker notice how passive they are now. They are worried since it is so uncharacteristic. Maybe they even need to take care of the whumpee if they are so dulled it takes their agency away or puts them in a dream-like state. Maybe the whumpee seems like a sad, scared, lost puppy now...

Whump Prompt #1697

The team doctor knows all the stages of waking up from sedation. They can predict it to the second, with an incredibly high success rate. On any other day it's like a game to them.

However, with how caught up they are in the intricate details of the whumpees care plan, it takes minutes for them to realise that the whumpee is staring right at them from the hospital bed.
