The Quick Rundown

Palestinians have always lived in Palestine alongside Jews and Christians for a very long time. After WWI and the fall of the Ottoman Empire, Europe divided the Middle East among themselves, Britain claimed Palestine in the name of their uncontrollable colonialism.

After WWII, some very antisemitic Brits who didn't want more Jews in THEIR country said "Hey, why don't you take Palestine? Nobody lives there*!" (*In fact, about 2 million people lived there, 60% Palestinian Muslims, 31% Jews, 8% Christian, and 1% Druze.) The Zionists gladly took Palestine because they saw it as "their land" given from god. The Zionists renamed it Israel and through a lot of violence, caused the Nakba (the disaster) in 1948, where they forced around 750,000 Palestinians off of their ancestral land and committed dozens of massacres.

They emptied over 500 Arab villages, towns, and cities and took them for themselves. By the end of the Nakba, Israel had taken over 75% of Palestinian land. Over the years, through illegal settlement projects, Israel has taken more and more, forcing Palestinians into the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, both under high surveillance and policing, they've even taken land from Syria and Lebanon through this illegal process.

The land called Palestine has never been a singularly Jewish land, yes they have ancient history there, but so do many other peoples (It's in the Fertile Crescent after all). But thanks to Zionism (belief in Jewish Ethnic superiority) they have rewritten history and claim it is solely for THEM and has always been so, because a really old book says so, and everyone else needs to get out or die.

Since then Gaza has become a prison. People cannot leave, Israel controls their electricity, access to water, and all access to supplies (food, wares, medicine, etc). They've squeezed 2 million people into a land area about the size of Washington D.C.

Tl:dr

Palestine was colonized by Britain, Britain gave away something that wasn't theirs to being with, Zionists said "great, Arabs aren't people so we'll just get rid of them by any means necessary," the Arabs fight back (many times over 80 years), Israel claims victimhood and "we have a right to defend ourselves!!!!", but if Arabs defend themselves they're definitely terrorists. It's DARVO on a massive scale.

my rage about how women are treated and have been treated feels so palpable, so intense, that I sometimes wonder if people around me can feel it radiating off of me. I wonder how the world just keeps going and how women aren't screaming and killing people more often. I need to think about these issues and more importantly than that I want to, I want to listen to women's stories, women's history, and I want to understand the reality of it all in all of its glory and horror. There is just so much bad that happens to women and it makes me shake. Every single day I think of the millions of women that have gone missing and were kidnapped and never seen again, the millions of women who have been tortured and raped, the millions who have been abused and never made it out. The millions who have suffered at the hands of soldiers, the millions who are trafficked. The millions who have experienced every single one of these experiences and more. Every single day i see another story of injustice and misogyny and murder and torture. My stomach fucking churns. I can't do anything. They're already gone. I can only try my best to do what I can in my little corner of the world, I just feel so overcome with grief that I often come to a stand still and feel numb.

I am so profoundly disturbed by the culture around healing. No, that teenage girl doesn’t need to outgrow being angry and having needs and taking up space; she is right. People are harder on rape victims for still being traumatised than on rapists for raping women and/or girls and it’s fucked up.

I had a therapist (a *holistic* herapist that my mum made me see before she would help me pay for actual therapy... I'm not religious or spiritual or holistic in any way) tell me that my abusive ex boyfriend did nothing wrong because it was always going to happen and he taught me important lessons that I needed to learn. I was 15-17 when the abuse occurred.... She told me that my lack of identity, not knowing who I was or what I looked like, constant dissociation, was because I was a princess in a past life who was loved by her town but was never truly known... She told me that my lack of wanting to forgive him was harmful and would only hurt me in the long run. Instead of literally just talking about the abuse I went through, she made me attach memories to rocks and toss them into a river to "release" the trauma, did meditation which was obviously nice but did fuck all, and charged me $85 for essence drops to calm me down during a panic attack. There are so many crazies and disguised male worshippers out there.
