Tomb Raider review from Sega Saturn Magazine UK back in 1996. A great score and I think it retains that even today. (Well maybe not the Saturn version)
I'm on a mission to save kids and I need your help. My chosen Children's Miracle Network Hospital treats thousands of children each year, regardless of their family's ability to pay. These kids are facing scary stuff like cancer, cystic fibrosis, and injuries from accidents to name just a few.
I'll be participating in this huge worldwide celebration of the social impact of gamers of all kinds from video games to board games and tabletop RPG's! For this, I'll be joining Stella's Team Tomb Raider Community which means much of my content will be Tomb Raider themed, with possibility of other titles being thrown in for fun. I'll be aiming to stream a lot of gaming content between the 5th and 6th of November via my Twitch channel (www.twitch.tv/ridentffxi).
One of my plans is to play through my list of top 10 tombs and levels which I had recently tweeted which includes:
Tomb of Qualopec (Tomb Raider)
Temple Ruins (Tomb Raider III)
The Lost Library (Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation)
Sanctuary of the Scion (Tomb Raider)
Barkhang Monastery (Tomb Raider II)
Great Wall (Tomb Raider II)
Coastal Thailand (Tomb Raider: Underworld)
Palace Midas (Tomb Raider)
Trajan’s Markets (Tomb Raider: Chronicles)
Ghana (West Africa) (Tomb Raider: Legend)
Since 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $22 million to help children's hospitals provide critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment, research and charitable care. It's my sincere hope that you'll find it in your heart to support my efforts with a monthly pledge or one-time gift that will go directly to my hospital.
For those in eligible, your donation is tax-deductible and ALL PROCEEDS go to help kids.
I need your help to reach my goal as well as our team goal For The Kids. Please make a safe, easy donation online today. Click the "Donate" button on my Extra Life For Kids page to get started. Thank you so much for supporting my efforts!
Listen to Nathan McCree’s Vertigo (extended/remastered) from Tomb Raider II. Such a beautiful track. Brings back great memories and gives me goosebumps when the harmonies kick in.
Unto your heart
I give my everything
Sweet dreams of nothingness
Will fade with dawn

This was such a memorable scene in the game, and a shoot both of us had always wanted to do. After 8 years of friendship online, we were finally able to meet up in my home country and do this!
Commencing 15th February 2016 with a 24 hour gaming marathon playing through Tomb Raider (’96) on Friday 26th February.
This is in aid of SpecialEffect, a UK charity who puts fun and inclusion back into the lives of people with physical disabilities by helping them to play video games.
You can be even more awesome by helping me to support SpecialEffect by donating or sharing my GameBlast16 fundraising page.
GameBlast16 is happening! Here’s what I have planned.
Has it almost been a year already? Last year I took part in GameBlast15, a mass fundraising event organised by and supporting the charity SpecialEffect and I am doing it all over again this year.
WHAT IS GAMEBLAST?
GameBlast is an annual charitable event supporting SpecialEffect and has gamers in mind. It allows people like myself to help raise money for charity by doing something I love, which is playing video games. The concept is simple, you run your own gaming marathon or gaming event (pub quiz, gamer bake, firewalk, dress up/down day, etc) at your own convenience.
One aim is to try and hold the event sometime during the weekend of 26-28 February if possible, and registering your participation with SpecialEffect so that your fundraising helps reach the GameBlast target of £150,000.
This can be done as an individual (as I have done previously), as a group of friends or as an organisation. What I have done the past 2 years is to stream my gaming activity, including webcam to my Twitch channel. Last year I expanded my gaming activity beyond the 24 hour marathon, and I’ll be doing the same again.
Want to know more about GameBlast16 or even take part? Check out the official GameBlast16 website for full details and how to register.
WHO ARE SPECIALEFFECT?
SpecialEffect is a UK registered charity who aid those with disabilities gain access to gaming and technology through special consultations and adapted/customised specialist peripherals catered to each individuals needs. This gives those with disabilities access to gaming and social functions they would otherwise not be able to do, which allows them to participate and compete on a more level field with friends and family in fun activities.
You can see more individual cases of people SpecialEffect have helped over the years, just like Ceyda in the “Who We’ve Helped” section of their website.
WHAT AM I DOING FOR GAMEBLAST16?
As mentioned above, I will be extending my streaming schedule beyond the 24 hour gaming marathon which I have planned for Friday 26th February 2016. I will commence my streaming on the evening of Monday 15th February and will host daily evening live streams on my Twitch channel during the weekdays followed by longer sessions over the weekends.
My headline game will be Tomb Raider (1996) which celebrates it’s 20th Anniversary this year. This will be played during my 24 hour marathon on the 26th February with the aim of completing it in that time. I made ramp up the challenge by playing the original PS version which features set save crystals instead of the save anywhere system in the PC version.
In line with celebrating the 20th Anniversary for Tomb Raider, I will be selecting a variety of other games I enjoyed at the time or in later years which were also released in 1996. Here’s a provisional schedule of titles:
Some of the games I still have available to play, but I will need to do a series of testing to ensure they are able to be live streamed for the event. If by chance some can not be live streamed, I will try and find replacement games to play. Hopefully the schedule gives a good idea of what I am planning.
You can follow me on Twitch and add notifications to get a message whenever I go live during the event.
WHAT ABOUT COMPETITIONS AND PRIZES?
As I did last year, I will be hosting some competitions during my GameBlast16 window to win some digital games. If I manage to get hold of any other physical prizes to give away before the event, I’ll add them to the prize pool.
I will likely run the competitions using Gleam again. This proved a useful tool to set up and run competitions with minimal hassle and allowing me to focus on the gaming while the competition handles itself.
Here is the list of prizes I have so far:
Links to the competitions will appear on my Twitch channel, Twitter and Facebook Page once they are live.
Finally, here is a message from SpecialEffect CEO Dr Mick Donnegan
