suo knowing (at least) five languages wouldve been great material for fucking with the others at furin. he was rly holding back
If (when) he comes back, I really want him to insult all of them in his many languages. I need him to call Sakura all manners of insults and I need Sakura to lose his shit, but then also learn insults in Mandarin to fuck with Suo back. I need Sakura and Nirei to download duolingo in their desperate attempts to stop the storm that is Suo.
nirei and sakura desperately studying mandarin (?) to get back at him only for suo to switch to korean/vietnamese/english lmao. sakura just explodes
Then out of nowhere Tsuge pulls out a language that Suo doesn’t speak, and Suo is so mad about it specifically bc it’s him lol
The last two pages punched me in the gut tbh
i do find the notion that sakura needs to "learn to let go" kind of...silly? like hes known nothing BUT abandonment his whole life, i think this is a lesson he knows? ik it would be different ofc but idk i dont find it particularly narratively compelling

Kind of obsessed with this woman's freakishly modern jacket from 1904.
The complete lack of shoulder definition gives it the silhouette of an MA-1 bomber jacket, but bombers weren't even a thing yet. The Wright brothers barely achieved powered flight in 1903. The ribbing on the shoulder and the angular cutouts with the hexagonal mesh are so futuristic and cyberpunk, but even art deco wouldn't be a thing for another 15 years. The color is like a dusty NASA flight suit. All together it's giving lone spacefarer crash landing their tiny rustbucket ship on Mars.
Truly a visionary of her time.
would u still love me if i were stuck in a cycle i've never been able to break
Been thinking about how communication plays a big role in Windbreaker…
Like, communication, and/or the lack of it, is significant to any story, but it’s specifically a central theme both in the text and subtext of Windbreaker. Whether it’s through intense brawls, group meals, sharing interests, or even flower languages, the series shows that there are many different ways to communicate with others.
It’s not uncommon for coming of age stories to explore these topics since kids, teens, and young adults are all still developing the tools necessary to properly understand and communicate with others. This is why all the characters in Windbreaker, regardless of upbringing, are going through that learning process too (though at different stages of fluency).
However, with how particularly significant this is in Windbreaker’s narrative, it’s not surprising that Sakura is our protagonist. Due to being shunned all of his life, he enters Makochi without even having a basic foundation to communicate with others. His isolation from others has caused him to develop his own language, which means other people struggle to understand him, and his lack of social experience means that he can’t understand other people either.
He’s essentially a foreigner in his own land, which is likely why he brightened up significantly when he initially thought Suo was a foreigner during his introduction. Though, despite the obvious teasing, it may not have been entirely incorrect.
the parallels of suosaku defending the other’s sense of belonging
it must be so much fun to be quick-witted instead of feeling like your thoughts are made of tar and there's a fine sieve between them and your mouth
so i really enjoy a certain guy ....... happy birthday yuma !!!!!
a huge billboard with an ad of a streaming service, and a caption being "listen to the music without internet"... the society is doomed, they're forgetting ancient texts (mp3 files and the vlc player app)
