Okay y’all, listen up, because I’m watching Let’s Play Live again and have some things to say about Gus fucking Sorola.

Gus is a fucking treasure, okay, and cares so goddamn much about showing the community a good time when they come out despite being too introverted and anxious to host a fucking housewarming party for himself. He’s been in charge of the podcast since the beginning, he’s the one who arranged RTX, he was beside Jack every step of the way when it came to organizing Let’s Play Live.

In a lot of ways, Gus paved new ground for Rooster Teeth and for online communities in general. The Drunk Tank podcast was second only to NPR on iTunes in entertainment for its first few years, and RT was one of the earliest adapters when it came to both the iTunes enhanced podcasts and video podcasts. It’s weird to think about as someone in their twenties, but Gus was helping brand RT as a company before YouTube existed.

Gus “get off my lawn” Sorola–who admits to caring about his two small dogs more than he does most people–he’s the guy who moderated the RT forums and arranged fan meet-ups and put together the first RTX so many years ago. Even in 2016 he and Barb put together the first RTX Australia, and are in the process of arranging the second.

And if that’s not enough to make you love the dude, both of Gus’ parents are Mexican; he grew up on the US/Mexico border with a large family as the eldest son (his full name is Gustavo Raul Sorola III). He talks to his mom once a week. The only RT Short his in-laws have seen is Frag Dude.

Gus is great, guys.
