It’s probably because she doesn’t see a lot of people handing flyers but she knows the pain since she had to do the same a year ago with the NOVA flyers when she joined the company. So taking into consideration that she’s been through the same, she approaches to take the flyer with a bow, but it’s confusing what she’s trying to get at. “Are you picking a specific organization to help… or are you from a specific organization?” Her eyes scan the flyer, wondering just what information she could not only learn from the sheet but also from the female in front of her. Girls getting an education should be a right.
“no, just trying to spread awareness!” she got these kinds of questions a lot - questions about why exactly she was doing this when other people didn’t care. but the truth was, as long as it made even one person a little more aware, she was happy. it was a cause near and dear to her heart, and she wasn’t about to give up on it. “this month’s organization is girl up, which is run by the united nations and it encourages girls to take action and stand up for other girls!”

Given the humble total of friends Halla had, it was very clear in her mind that she wanted to treasure every moment with them. It was only as her awkward disposition didn’t grant her the freedom of making new friends easily, and so she valued the friends she already had, wanting to be closer than ever with them. Especially those whom she hadn’t been that close with lately, such as those back when she was in elementary school before homeschooling started through the later years and middle school - a time when it was only herself and her tutor.
Nevertheless, when her dear friend Solbin, someone she regretted having not been very close with lately, called and invited her out for a day out to create memories, elated she was. How could she turn down an offer like that? And it was to take pictures of each other to create memories to look back on as they grow up and become immersed in their everyday life. They had hardly conversed since Solbin had moved up a grade and Halla had begun homeschooling and so this was something the teenager looked forward to profoundly.
So now Halla walked with probably her only friend from the meek days of elementary school - when boys had cooties and having a pink, sparkly book bag was probably the coolest thing ever.
“Hmm,” she stuck out her tongue slightly as she observed the area around the two girls, thinking of a starting place. “Maybe….maybe there!” Halla pointed to an area overlooking what seemed to be a small bay, filled with a few small boats. The area looked to be sort of like a bridge almost, even though the side across from it was a street.
What Halla that was picture-worthy, was the ability to clearly see the rising sun covered behind a cloud, above the bay’s blue waters. “Maybe we could start by taking a picture with the sun in the background as if to…to start off our day!”
she had everything ready - a camera, a selfie stick, snacks for when they got hungry, and plenty of sunscreen to save their skin from the bright rays of that day. and now with halla here, everything was finally perfect.
the girl looked over to where her friend pointed, a picturesque waterfront with boats floating about. with the sun shining down on it and the water sparkling from the brightness, it was as if the entire scene had come from one of those nature photobooks with meadows and oceans and forests. as long as you took out the busy street across from it, of course.
“it’s perfect!” she said excitedly, taking halla’s hand and pulling her toward the water. “so pretty!”
solbin turned to the nearest person next to them, an older looking woman with a little dog sitting by her feet. even if the woman was kind of old, she should know how to use a camera, right? it was a nice camera, but they all just about worked the same way. “excuse me? could you take a picture of us?”
after showing the woman how to click the button to capture the shot, she handed the camera over to her, then ran toward the bridge with halla, holding her arm up toward the sky. “and could you please get the sun in the shot?”
it was the perfect start to what solbin hoped would be a perfect day.

it was relieving the way she visibly noted the unkempt excitement that came from the freshman. something she would like to remember as it was clearly contrastive from the array of expressions solbin would use around her. most of the time it was the clear depiction of annoyance and frustration. she relished over the difference of today.
she too, felt a little excited over the notion of shopping. no matter the cause, shopping will forever and always be a girl’s favorite thing to divulge on. at least, she would like to express that she is one of those females. “and a good table, and some other stuff that would look amazing in your room.” the older student could never deny - she felt extremely positive about their project. more so than she ever did about any other project.
it cultivated her mind as she looked upon the different assortments of couches presented before them. it worked in the sense that looking at the furnitures, she already knew what would look good and what wouldn’t. “what about this? the color looks great, it’s long to fit enough people but not so much that it would occupy so much space –” she exclaimed, hand reached out to check the comfortability of the couch and with a small smile she looked back on her companion. “– comfortable too, i can tell.”
what kind of teenage girl didn’t like shopping? like most, solbin loved the feeling of walking around stores, looking at different items and comparing their quality and price and looking for sales. this wasn’t exactly the latest at bloomingdale’s, but it was shopping nonetheless, and it was something she enjoyed.
apparently, seunghee enjoyed it also, as suggestions started pouring out. it was a nice change, actually working well together instead of getting in each other’s way all the time. she was starting to not only feel good about this project, but maybe even have a little fun with it. at least, as much fun as she could have with the closest person she had to a rival.
she looked at the couch approvingly. it definitely looked nice, and wouldn’t take up too much space in the school radio room. with a sudden spur of moment spontaneity, she plopped herself down on the couch cushions, relishing in the feeling of the cool, soft leather. “it really is comfortable!” she smiled widely. “i can get used to sitting here!”

Leaving for training in the morning sometimes feels like a drag, because she’s either tired from the night before or just hasn’t gotten enough sleep. She partially blames herself for it, but she still has quite a bit of a walk to get her to where she needs to be so she can wake up along the way. Maybe a stop for tea before actually eating any breakfast at the company would help. Hyuna rubs at her eyes, a yawn escaping her as she trudges through the streets and there’s already vendors up and out with food being cooked. Does she really want to grab something…? Eh, her coaches might not like it. She finally spots a coffee shop in the distance, just along the path she’s on to the company when she can see someone handing out flyers. “This early…?” she murmurs to herself.
the early bird gets the worm, or at least, that’s what they say. and if it’s true then it’s not gross wiggly stuff that solbin wants, but people who pass by on the streets. it may have been a little much to have woken up so early in the morning to go shouting on the streets, but with summer break, it was important for solbin to catch commuters on their way to work in the morning, something that she wouldn’t be able to do normally with classes. she sets up and sees someone walking down the sidewalk, and waves, speaking loudly as she outstretches an arm with a flyer. “hello! support the girls! did you know that a lot of girls can’t get an education just because they’re girls?”
- step by step
luke was prepared for the worst, like being slapped or cussed out by solbin. but the moment she realized was him, he smirked and playfully gave her a nudge. “you have other boys you’re seeing too, hm? you can’t pick me out in a crowd?” he taunted, adjusting his sunglasses before passing out a few of the fliers for her. “yes, i know that there are a lot of girls that can’t get an education because they are a girl. no, i don’t want to hear more about it though. life is fucked up, people are fucked up, the government is the most fucked up. but it’s good that you’re out here trying to get people to notice, i suppose.” p>now, he honestly wasn’t too interested in standing out in this sun for too long. whatever solbin had in mind was good, but he was already thinking about different possibilities for them. if he took her out for coffee, wouldn’t his mother be proud? if he just sent her a quick text saying that he found sought out the female for a quick coffee date, would it mean she would stay off his ass for at least three days? that’s all he needed, three days of peace and silence before she began nagging about his major choice or taste in females. why did parents concern themselves with little details like that anyways? they were young and free; luke wasn’t planning on getting any bitch knocked up in the near future. there was no reason to create another mistake like himself. whenever his mother attempted to set him up with a variety of girls of her choice, he usually ignored her requests or left the dinner way too early. but, solbin was different. a good different, one that at least made him want to see her, like right now. she was cute, they got along and she didn’t really try to control him too much. this could quite possibly be the one thing that his mother could get right, but only time would tell. “how long have you been out here for, anyways? aren’t you hot?” he really didn’t understand how she could do this – most people gave no fucks about the fliers she was trying to pass out, even if it was for a good cause. they would only end up in the trash bins or on the ground within the next ten steps they’d take. “let’s go get a coffee or eat something. i have a feeling you’ve been out here really trying your best, so let me reward you,” luke offered, reaching to take the rest of the fliers from her. “you don’t really have the option of saying no either, ‘cause i’m stealing you regardless. think of how happy our parents will be when they see that we are hanging out together!”
solbin rolled her eyes at the boy. “well, i recognized you soon enough, didn’t i?” how was she supposed to be able to pick him out when he was wearing sunglasses? on top of that, they had only seen each other once, and it wasn’t all that surprising she didn’t recognize him at first. or maybe it was. he wasn’t exactly a plain looking guy, but whatever.
he was right. life was a fucked up piece of work that everyone had to get through. it twisted and turned and spun you around and around until you were so dizzy you couldn’t tell the difference from up and sideways. but that was what made life fun, right? it was the unexpected loops, like the times when your father set you up on dates, that kept things exciting.
especially when they ended up with tall, attractive guys asking you to go get coffee. she had gone into the date expecting some boy who’s idea of a date was a two-player game on the wii and who was headed for a cubicle and a desk staring at a computer until his eyes were glued to the glow of the screen like a moth to a candle. in other words, someone like her brother. no offense to him, but solbin would bet money that he would end up in some corporate office. so someone spontaneous and fun like luke had at least captured her attention well enough that she didn’t have to make up some excuse about why she had to leave early.
“yes, i am. but when you’re always hot like me, you get used to it.” she paused her distribution of flyers to grin up at him. “coffee sounds great, but as you can see, i’m very busy right now.” solbin had things to do, and didn’t have time to drop everything just for a boy, no matter what he looked like.
but the mention of parents made her stop what she was doing to look back up at him. it would make her father happy to see her with luke, and maybe he’ll stop asking her about her love life so much, a piece of conversation that was uncomfortable for all parties. they could even get a selfie and send it to them. plus, her flyers could wait until later. “but you know what, i think i could use a break. i’ll go if you pay!”

for years on end, she had been seeing the younger girl on the streets of seoul dressed in a statement shirt or with a banner on her hand. seunghee had witnessed her screaming for gender equality and for the empowerment of women. to be honest, she was all for it. after all she too was fighting for her own cause that most people have neglected with disdain since the beginning of time. she could only hope that they wouldn’t cross paths all the time. perhaps if that were the case, they wouldn’t have been so tight every time they cross paths which happened all the time.
“yeah, i liked the second one best too.” seunghee spoke with a nod of her head. surprise wasn’t evident on her features but it is apparent to herself. they never got along with anything - today was a miracle on its own. “yeah, of course. the colors are pretty easy to deal with. we could go furniture shopping now? since i feel that’s more of a pressing matter.” with a tilt of her head, she lead them out of the crafts store with hopes to return later in the day for finalization.
seunghee knew that solbin was an intelligent female. after all, it’s not everyday someone had the ability to gain access to a prestigious college a year younger than most people on her batch. she would gladly give her credit for that. all of a sudden, she developed good thoughts upon their excursion. for the first time the entire day.
the fact that they were working well together was a miracle. usually they would have been bickering over everything, and honestly solbin had expected to fight her on every little detail of the room. but for the first time in years, they were collaborating without a trace of hostility, no arguing or dirty looks or not so hidden sighs of exasperation.
maybe the sidewalks were too small for two people, but maybe this project was just the right size for both of them. solbin really hoped it would be; she really didn’t need there to be conflict on this important assignment. and with any luck, the two of them would get through this together and amicably and she could get her air time on the radio while the other girl got her good resume.
“furniture shopping sounds great! let’s get a nice couch!” the freshman let herself just get a tiny bit excited for this. after all, she spend a lot of her time in the school radio room, and the chairs weren’t very comfortable. a plush couch with some nice pillows would be a dream come true.

it had been a while since the last time solbin was in elementary school - six years, to be exact. in the last six years, she had graduated from basic addition to calculus and started making simple sentences into detailed essays. now she had even started university, her first foray into the real world of adults.
but she didn’t feel like an adult, not when she was still one month removed from being legal and a year younger than all of the other first years in k-arts. skipping a grade was nice, she supposed, when people marveled over your accomplishments. but it gave her one less year with people who should have been her peers.
one example of such was halla. they had been close during elementary school, whispering secrets to each other in the playground and sharing their packed lunches with each other. but solbin had moved on to middle school two years before the younger girl, and while they still stayed in contact from time to time, they certainly didn’t have the same amount of closeness that they once did.
which is why solbin had invited her out that day. her grandma had told her that she regrets not taking more pictures when she was young, just to capture the memories, and with the current technology, solbin thought it would be a great idea to invite one of her friends and create memories for her to look back on when she was her grandmother’s age.
halla was the perfect choice, of course, having been a friend for such a long time, and plus, they could catch up.
“so, where should we go first?” she asked as the two girls walked down the sidewalks of the city. she was excited to get started, and couldn’t wait for the day.
plotcall!!
hello helloo! i finally got off my lazy butt and made a plots page for solbin! you can find it here and message me through inbox or on aim or comment or like or whatever floats your boat if you see any that would fit!!!!

a nod of her head followed through as the older student took mental notes of what solbin was talking about. no matter how much they haven’t been exactly the best of friends, still, she believed communicating with her in a mature way would be the best option for the both of them. it wasn’t as though she wanted to take her out and fight her. no, that was way too much. it’s just that they aren’t the most agreeable people. it was a surprise that they were doing quite well at that moment.
“i figured you would say that.” seunghee muttered under her breath. it was ideal for the broadcasting organization to want to up their features and bring in guests to their room every now and then. something they should have done long ago. “well, i already made a couple of sketches. i would like to know what you think would suit your team’s fancy best.” she spoke as she rummaged through her purse for the small sketchbook pad she brought with her wherever she go - an essential if she must say.
she handed over the pad to her female companion, brown orbs awaiting appraisal. “well, sleek colors of black, white, and red would always look professional to me. very modern too.” she wouldn’t exactly boast of the skills she possessed but the second year student knew that she was one of the best on their field. for that alone, she couldn’t wait to graduate to express more of her talents in designing. for now, she would relish over the fact that she was able to design her own bedroom and the radio broadcasting room.
it really wasn’t that solbin disliked seunghee personally - she seemed like an alright kind of girl. at least she didn’t seem especially mean or catty. but the two of them had a knack for always showing up at the same place at the same time, fighting for a piece of real estate on the sidewalks and on the campus as they argued for their respective causes. not that solbin had anything against her cause but she would really appreciate if she would rally for it somewhere else. it made her just a bit hostile toward the older girl, always sighing in frustration when she saw her.
but she had to admit, seunghee knew what she was doing when it came to interior design. solbin had asked around, and apparently the girl was top of her class, admired for her skills, and she could see that in the sketches that she made. they were classic while not being outdated, but modern without being outlandish. she felt relieved that at least the person who would be working with her wasn’t completely incompetent at their job.
solbin flipped through the pages, nodding approvingly as she looked at the designs. “i like the second one. i think that has a nice aesthetic that’s fitting for the radio.” she handed the sketchbook back, pointing to a corner of it. “although could we move the file cabinets and consolidate them a bit? black, white, and red sound good, although could be have a little more white?”

prior to coming to korea, luke mentally promised that he was going to do what he wanted whenever he wanted. there was going to be no more stepping on egg shells to avoid his mother’s constant judging and nagging. and yet, even though it had already been two years since he was essentially mailed off to korea signed off to his father’s care, somehow he managed to get tangled in her web. it first started off with forcing him to sign up to go to university in the fall, to then suggestions of getting a part time job and now after years of nagging and own arrival to korea, a girl she wanted him to meet. for some, gaining a possible girlfriend through their mother’s acquaintances didn’t seem too bad. his mom knew a lot of people, ranging from fashion designers to professors. there was a chance that maybe he could meet his own modern day princess and fall in love with all of the additional bullshit that fairy tales somehow managed to throw in. but for luke, it was a threat. a threat to his newly found freedom that suddenly the few girls he managed to date for a handful of months here and there simply weren’t good enough. that is, until he met her. the first meeting with solbin wasn’t too bad, aside from the obvious awkwardness. but as soon as they managed to warm up to each other, it was like talking to one of his good friends. she didn’t mind his crude jokes, or constant chatter about himself. she didn’t limit him on the amount of beers he drank, or cringe too hard when he swore about his mother. and so, the moment he spotted her while deciding to go out on a walk afternoon was a pleasant surprise. not to say that he didn’t think that she would contact him after that but… slipping his sunglasses on his face, luke stealthily walked with the crowd as he kept his eyes on the target. what was she passing out? does she have a part time job or something? it didn’t occur to him that he should probably think about what to say when he eventually got to her, so when he managed to appear from her he awkwardly took a flier from her before awkwardly taking some of her stack from her. “is this your job or something? i don’t remember if you told me you had a job…” he muttered, tilting his sunglasses down just a bit to look her in the eyes. “hi… do you remember me?”
without classes to attend and deadlines to meet, solbin found that she had a lot of extra time on her hands. this meant that she could meet her friends, stay out until late at night, and of course, spend more time rallying for her cause. today was no exception, as the girl stood out on the sidewalks, passing out flyers and talking to whoever would stop their walking to listen to her.
a tall boy came and took a flyer from her, which she passed to him with a smile before looking up in surprise when she felt a sudden weight lifted from her arms. a look of confusion spread across her features as her mind tried to process what was happening, only clearing when the dark sunglasses revealed his eyes.
“oh, luke!” her puzzled look was replaced by a grin as she saw him, one hand raising in a small wave. “hey!”
they said that parents did strange things when their children went off to college, a result of a so-called “empty nest syndrome”. while solbin’s father didn’t go off and get pets or adopt children or anything, he developed a newfound interest in her love life, always asking if she had a boyfriend or if she liked anyone in her university. she always sighed when she thought about it. her brother hadn’t gotten this kind of treatment when he left for college, but she supposed she was the baby of the family, and always daddy’s little girl, so it wasn’t altogether that surprising.
what was surprising, however, was when her father told her that he wanted her to meet a son of someone he knew. she was frustrated at first, not exactly liking being set up on a date, especially by her father, but relented, expecting some stuffy corporate style boy probably majoring in something like economics or computer programming.
but luke turned out to be fun. he was tall, attractive, and bold in a way that she liked. in short, he was completely different from what solbin expected from her father, though she had a feeling he didn’t exactly know all the parts of this boy. they got along well, and by the end of the night talked like they knew each other for two years instead of just two hours.
“no, not a job.” she laughed, looking down at her flyers. “just an important cause. did you know that a lot of girls can’t get an education just because they’re girls?”
