I struggle to square how much i enjoy some movies with how objectionable their values, worldview and attitudes are.

Specifically i just re-watched Glen Gary Glenross and i enjoyed myself just as much as the first time. The arresting performances from these legendary actors, the way they can spin dialogue that is, essentially, about nothing into something you're actually invested in is just amazing to watch.

But my enjoyment is butting up against the machismo and racism and blatant homophobia. I understand that depiction isn't an endorsement, and maybe even that's the point of the movie when viewed through an anticapitalist lens, but it also makes it really really hard to recommend or to want to share.

I have similar problems with Seven and Fight Club and to a lesser extent the new Odyssey movie. Blegh, idk i guess i just want to be able to share media i enjoy without exposing my friends and family to slurs idk if thats crazy or whatever but im complaining anyways.
