What's the first "big news story" you remember from when you were a kid?

It's something I love to ask mixed-aged groups sometimes because I think it's really interesting to see the responses. I've gotten answers from the Olympics of [whatever year] to Watergate to more recent stuff from my niblings.

My first news thing I remember is the OJ Simpson trial. I vaguely remember watching the news with my grandparents before that, but that's the first story I remember, in part because my second grade teacher had us go play so she could watch the verdict 😂

This is a fundraiser for my short film, The Endless Cycle! Pre-production and production has passed earlier this year, but due to an unexpected malfunction of the hard drive on which the footage is on, my crew and I must somehow scrounge upwards of $2,000 to recover the data before we can move on to editing and the rest of post-production.

there was a great study a few years that went into the whole "ppl online are bigger jerks than irl cuz theres a virtual wall and no repercussions" and the researchers were expecting to see that be the case but it turns out that people who were really angry or argumentative online were also found to just be assholes in person and people who were pretty patient and nice online were found to be patient and nice in real person as well

and it just debunked that whole cynical idea that people will naturally be mean if theres no punishment for it

Journal Entry

I don't think I actually want to be happy.

At the end of each day, I realise I did a bunch of things in hopes of reaching said end with satisfaction coursing through my brain. And I never feel fulfilled.

I may be thinking about this wrong (or 'wrong', since what is actually wrong?), and I may be letting other people's words and potential thoughts affect the ways that I think. I think other people are allowed to want to be happy, and they are allowed to think that I am crazy for not wanting to be happy.

Right now, I don't want to be happy. Right now, I want to feel breathless, exerted. I want my muscles to tense and my bones to ache. I want my heart to feel simultaneously twice as large and four times as small. I think that could be... exciting? Or anger. And that's motivating.

I think I need to feel angry.

Hi All!

So, this is sooo not a normal post for me.

Earlier this year, I shot a short film based on a script I also wrote. I assembled the crew and the actors, made the schedule, the shotlist, and assembled the equipment. So much hard work was put in by everyone involved, and we wrapped filming in late June!

The film is inspired by the Ancient Greek myths. Premise: Set in the twenty-first century, the deities of Love and War—Eros and Thanatos—fight over the jurisdiction of one mortal woman's fate.

Unfortunately, something happened to the drive on which the footage was stored, and now it needs to be recovered at a special facility. The cost is very high, and I don't have the funds alone to finance it, so I created a gofundme page.

I hope to submit the short film to film festivals this January, but I won't be able to do that without recovered footage.
