Tutorial for icons like these and these
I’ll be using Photoshop Cc (it is in italian, but photoshop is the same for everyone…I think :O)
Basic skills needed, coloring, cutting out etc.
This is gonna be pretty detailed (not too much but datailed ahah)
If you have any other questions, Please don’t be afraid to ask :D
So lets start by opening your cap
I’m not going to cut him out, but I’m going to select him with the rectangular selection tool and I’m going to color the background (creating a new layer above the cap) around him with the color I’ll use for the icon
(this one)
After this I put the two layers in a group and I open a new file for my icon, 100px
Then I start my colouring part: What I do everytime is this
1.I create a layer of every part of the pic I want to color and I set the layer to soft light (each one of the coloring) having something like its (obviously I change the opacity if I’m not satisfied about what I see)
2.Then, still in the group, I create a curves layer with this settings (input: 79 output: 147) but I don’t use it so much, only when my icon is still too dark.
3. I create a Selective Color layer (is it right in english? omg) with this settings in NEUTRAL: 0 | 0 | 0 | -11
4. The last part of the group is a vibrance layer: 48 | 0
AFTER THIS, quit the group and above the group create another Selective Color layer with this settings in NEUTRAL: 3 | 5 | 4 | -13
then another curves layer (omg a list hahaha) with this settings (I’d love to make screens but idk my computer sometimes doesn’t make them ç_ç) input 114 | output 130
NOW… last to layers (I think someone will be happy hahaha)
first: go to level -> new fill layer -> gradient fill
second one: the same as the first one, all white with 84% of opacity
SET THE TWO OF THEM TO SOFT LIGHT
here it is, the icons we just create :D why mine is more sharper? don’t worry! you can sharp it as well
to do it, just select all the group’s layers, duplicate them and merge them. after this sharp them going in filter and sharp :D
Wanna add texture? Here we go! (you can find lots of them here!)
I’d rather choose texture with the same color of the background or the all icons, in this case I choose this one
I put it in between the two gradient fill layers, setting it to soft light and pull its opacity to 32% (in the majority of the cases I use this opacity, but for this icon I try a 80% / 100%)
done! I hope this made even a tiny bit of sense, if you have any more questions just ask :)
if you use this tutorial pls tag me in what you’ve done bc I’d love to see how they turn out :)
and pls, if this tutorial above helped you, like/reblog this post and spread the word :D
