The most frustrating part of this discourse is watching people twist themselves into knots to avoid a simple truth: Not every internal experience is a system.
Having imaginary friends? Not a system. Roleplaying characters in your head? Not a system. Feeling like you have "different modes" for different situations? Not a system.
DID/OSDD alters are not characters. They are not personas. They are dissociated self-states formed as a survival mechanism. The fact that some of you are so desperate to pathologize normal human behavior that you’ll co-opt a severe trauma disorder is genuinely concerning.
Stop romanticizing mental illness. Get offline. Touch grass.
