This has taken me such a long time to finally gather my thoughts, and I apologize for that! This book was really such a wild ride and it definitely took some time to figure out what was happening, but I think I've finally got it!
I really appreciated that RQ went straight into action instead of a long, dragged out beginning. Sometimes slow beginnings of books really annoy me, so I liked that it was a quick start. The book as a whole was really fast-paced, so that was amazing too. I also really like Victoria Aveyard's writing style, which gives me a lot of hope for Realm Breaker!
I really enjoyed the plot and the characters were, for the most part, likeable. Mare seems to be a very reliable narrator, which is great. I loved the divide between Red and Silver bloods- it gave me major Shadow and Bone meets The Hunger Games vibes.
The only thing I really didn't like about the book (which now writing it down, probably won't make too much sense unless you've read it) is the constant never knowing who's good or bad. It got kind of frustrating at some points, and I don't really like to feel mad while reading. But, while it wasn't my favorite aspect, it made for some pretty good plot twists, which I always appreciate.
Anyhow, I am going to continue with this series (I'm already around 200 pages into Glass Sword) and definitely read Realm Breaker soon! I really enjoyed this book and I'm excited to see where the rest of the story will go!
MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD- I don't ship Mare with anyone at the moment, and I'm already ~200 pages into Glass Sword. Cal is probably the best option out of him, Maven (who I now very much dislike), and Kilorn (who seems like a nice guy, but whose name is horrendous), but I can honestly see her ending up with either of them. Soooo, uh, yeah. That's my review!
