Ailane, weird. This name sounds nice in his ears, familiar even and yet he is certain he’s never heard it before. Probably just one of those things you once saw in a book or heard in a movie - yeah, that was the only explanation he had as of now.

“Oh, yes I am.” Only now he fully realized that the girl in front of him who had stitched his coat with such ease was also a lion, not just any non-human but a lion, like him. For Aion this was the first time he saw another lion apart from his father and dear mother. Though he never got to meet her again after his parents divorced, his father wouldn’t allow it.

Crimson eyes wandering down to his new coat again, he couldn’t help the smile spreading on his lips. “Thank you, my outfit finally looks decent again. What can I do to thank you properly?”

                  “  Do people really thank others just like that ??  ”   Ailane tilts her head, confused about all the things he’s said so far. Only once in her lifetime was she ever thanked. It just happened, but all the other humans in her class would simply laugh at her for being non-human. They’d call her a freak. Monster. Point at her tail and laugh, ask questions like: What good is that tail for?-- sure, it hurt but after a while she stopped caring. Minded her own business and became isolated from this world. She knew what emotions were, that social interaction was necessary but only ever spoke up in her class when needed. She wasn’t a shut-in, but she wasn’t outgoing either.   “  Mama said thanking someone else is a sign of weakness...  ”

                  “  Lions are rare. I’ve never seen another one and you’re so huge too !  Did your mom use some magic on you to make you stronger ??  Mama always said if I believed in magic I’ll be strong...  ”   She goes on about magic. Like the little child she was, she believed in all sorts of things. Her mother went even as far as to tell her the tales of a so called brother she was supposed to know. But things she knows are simply myths and not the truth. She’d love to talk to Aion about him, but with an empty stomach she can’t really think much-- all she can hear is the grumble coming from her stomach     “  I’m hungry... but I can’t find Peipain anywhere.  ”   That was clearly a request to take her out for food in exchange for fixing his coat up again.

                   Confused Lion noises   “  … ? ”   He’s oddly starting to sound like mother, asking weird questions she wouldn’t understand in a thousand years. Da-teeng? Daiting???  She’s never heard that word before, and quite frankly she isn’t gonna try to. Her eyes narrow and so does her curiosity. When the girl called out to him and tugged on his coat, Aion nearly tripped and fell over, he just barely was able to keep himself from falling. After all he hadn’t expected someone to even talk to him, usually people would make him trip on purpose, call him names or even punch him. If he hadn’t seen the ears of the young child he might have just run away.

Through narrowed but gentle eyes he watches as she skillfully started sewing his ripped coat. “Aion… you?”

                   “  Ailane !  ”   The lioness cuts off the thread, adding just a few stitches to the coat. It’s like she just made a brand new coat, her mother teaching her skills at a young talent finally seemed to pay the bills. However she can’t help but look at Aion’s tail... A long tail with a fluffy fur coat at it’s end. And looking up just over his hair, she can see the round cat ears. Something about this man feels odd... She can feel some sort of familiar connection to him and yet... the name Aion rings a bell.  Onii-chama ?    “  You’re a non-human too.  Are you also a lion ?  ”

                   “  Sir. Please hold on a second !   ”   The young lioness runs towards the tall man, tugging on his ripped coat. He must’ve walked through a bush of rose thorns or something... she pulls out a small kit with needles and thread.   “  Hold still, I’m gonna fix this !   ”    Ailane’s hand slowly fiddle around the coat, teeth cutting the thread before threading the string into the needle hole--- her fingers delicately move as she’s fixing the grey clothes.   “  I should be done in a few minutes... um, can I ask for your name, mister ?  ”   /   @violetstrings

                   Yes! Actually, she still sleeps with a nightlight on--- seeing that she is still a young teenager at that with severe trauma caused by her way too ambitious father as a child.
