hearing a beloved friend say the words 'can i be mean for a sec' is like watching an angel descend from the heavens and kiss you on the forehead
i've been phasing the phrase 'google it' out of my vocabulary and going back to 'look it up'. fuck you youve lost your generic trademark privileges
Happy 11th Anniversary, Splatoon!
The game changer effect...
I wish I had friends with the resources and love required to kidnap me and trap me in a custom escape room based on all the times I embarrassed and annoyed them on purpose
Ana and Demi having a perfectly normal one on Game Changer tonight.
eat an entire can of sweetened condensed milk. you deserve it.

this is one of the most rewarding things about posting self care tips on this site. witnessing people's lives getting better in real time. this is why I post

This is true of the manga, but I love how the anime accentuates the absolute physical trust the apprentices have with Qifrey. Specifically with Agott, the way she is so ready when Qifrey says “hang on tight, I need my hands free” to cling to him a mile into the sky, and then in the latest episode, how, as soon as she impacts Qifrey while flying to him, she makes no move to save herself, she just curls into him and trusts that he will keep them from falling.
And I think it works as a signal to the audience, to subtly go “hey, I know we don’t trust Qifrey right now, he’s being shady, but we can always trust him to protect the physical wellbeing of his kids. Remember that.” Idk man maybe I’m getting too attached to a teeny detail but aaaaaaghhhh that’s her dad.
stealing your tags
#anyways i think it's particularly notable that fiercely independent always-has-something-to-prove Agott is like this with him#and that none of the apprentices really hide how they're feeling around him even when that feeling is negative#Agott and Richeh make it known when they're unhappy with Qifrey#and they (two abused kids) just flat out wouldn't do this if he wasn't a safe person to be unhappy at
I actually do think we should discourage women from becoming housewives. Do not become financially dependent on a man. That's how a lot of women ended up dead over the years. A man gets violent suddenly and you have to choose between homelessness or potentially dying at his hand because you have an enormous gap in your resume and no degrees or certifications or anything that will help you pursue a career that will allow you to be financially independent. He owns your bank account. His name is probably the one on the car. Try and leave and he can report it stolen. Where will you go then?
Don't become a housewife.
And if you do become a housewife, take steps to protect yourself. Make sure you’re legally married, for starters; stay-at-home girlfriends have very little legal recourse to claim their partner’s assets in a breakup. Make sure your name is on the house deed/rental agreement, and have your car in your name, even if your spouse is paying for it. Have your spouse transfer money every month into an account solely in your name, so you can buy yourself things without needing permission, but also so you can save up to leave if needed.
If your spouse fights you on any of this, then don’t quit your job. The tradwife to poverty pipeline is real, and so is financial abuse.
also, many women/people experience controlling behaviour and domestic violence from their partner for the first time during pregnancy. don’t risk thinking “he’s just stressed, it’ll get better when the baby comes” because it won’t. neither you and your child will ever be safe with that man. get out as early and safely as you can
I know a school principal hates to see him coming
And in these next 50 years you will eat so many delicious meals, laugh so many times with so many people you love, shout and scream and sing and cry and smile so hard your face hurts. And you will see such beautiful sunsets and feel fresh cold air on your face and feel warm and safe wrapped up in your favourite winter coat.
I wrap this blessing around you like a shroud, so that no ill can find you, and every warmth is held close
One other little detail that I think is interesting: these phones are all rotary phones, which means that in order to dial, you have to put your finger in the (round) hole that represents the number you want, then turn the dial clockwise until you reach the stop, then let it snap back to its original state, repeating until you complete the whole number and... yeah, that sure seems like a metaphor for Homura's entire project (although Homura is technically going counterclockwise by turning back time).
The design at the center of the rotary looks very similar to this symbol visible in the background in the movie poster:
And if you look very closely (zoomed in), you'll see another shape around that... a cog.
So yeah, I do not think these phones symbolize the original Homura, I think they represent her mirror image, who, as we have already seen, shares a lot of Walpurgisnacht's iconography (because they are the same, but that's a topic for another time).
