âI was, though I would have much rather been home. I was at the fire station, supposedly one of the safer places to be,â she huffed out a bit of laughter at that, seeing as she had gotten hurt so badly.
âGosh, you poor angel.â Rosie says with a small frown of pity, wishing she could do something to make the blonde feel better. But sheâs no miracle worker, unfortunately. âPlease tell me you have your friends and family by your side to share positive thoughts at least?â
avianamrtnxo:
Aviana nodded her head as she watched the girl disappear. She sat there and found her eyes falling to her ankle again, they were all right - she needed to get it checked but she was stubborn and once she had her mind set a certain way, she tried to keep it there. Her eyes returned to the girl as she came back with ice and gladly took it from her, placing it on her bruised ankle.âThank you. Oh yeah, I heard it didnât get too much damage done to it.â
âSafer than midtown, thatâs for sure.â Rosie confirms. She is truly blessed to be living in an area that has been left unscathed by the terrible storm, but that doesnât change the fact that she feels terribly bad for those who were affected by it-- especially this young lady in front of her. âYou can use my guest room, sweetheart. If you donât have any place to stay for the mean time, that is.â Itâs the best help she could offer.
alexandriaroberts:
âAlright, Iâll try.â Alexandria replied, listening to the woman speak. Her years of acting might actually be able to come in handy when it came to trying to mimic the womanâs voice. âLets just hope that I have more luck.â She added, sending the stranger a smile. Alix just hoped that she would be able to enter the building and exit it without too many issues. There was really no way to know what the state of the inside of the building was going to look like. She nodded at the womanâs comment, and followed her to the building. âAlright, well here goes nothing.â Alix said, heading into the building. A few minutes later she returned with the dog, just praying that the dog was alright.
âI know you can do it.â Rosie encourages her wholeheartedly in spite of her frazzled nerves. Thereâs still a possibility that the woman might not find her dog at all or worse, she might find him in a state that would devastate her. Hopefully the situation wonât reduce to the latter or otherwise, she wouldnât be able to forgive herself for not venturing alone into the building earlier. However, after a few minutes passed by, Rosie sees the nice woman walking back from the building with Benny and she couldnât help but squeal in delight as she hurries to them. âThank you so much!â She says gleefully as she takes Benny in her arms, laughing the second her dog starts licking her face. âI really owe you one, sweetheart. May I know your name?â
calvinjrogers:
Calvin had been stopped in his attempt at trying to figure out how he wanted to get home. Honestly, he wanted to not see in what state his apartment was in. He could already imagine everything he had bought was waterlogged considering in just about every room he had windows. âIâŠâ He paused as she looked over at him, her pleading eyes and the poor story about her dog. âIâm not a big fan of the dark. But I think thereâs a non emergency line you can call and theyâll come and help.â After spending however long it was in a locked closet, Calvin had decide to limit just how much he was going to try to save the day.
âO-Oh.â Rosie had already seen that coming after seeing the hesitation casting over the manâs face. While his response was expected, not many people exactly turn her down so she is still rather taken aback. He shared some very useful information though. âIâm not familiar with that, actually.â She admits a tad bit sheepishly. âAnd I canât stand to wait any longer while my baby is in there alone and scared. Benny doesnât fare well in the dark. I can... try to go there alone but I will be at ease if you wait by the entrance just in case anything happens to me in there.â For all she knows, there could be monsters lurking in the shadows.
ethanxhenry:
Ethan had been told not to over-stress himself, or walk too much, since he was released from the hospital so he wouldnât hurt his stitches or risk the wound getting infected againâbut it would take more than that to keep the firefighter from visiting his neighborhood and witnessing just how much damage had been caused to his place. It was on his way back from the rubbles of what used to be his house that he stumbled upon the woman asking for help, looking from her to where she was pointing. âWhatâs his name?â He asked before making his way into the building, calling the pup a few times and expertly moving through the debris before he returned with the animal, petting his head before getting back on his feet, trying to disguise his wincing with a smile. âHeâs all right. I think itâs safe to say weâre all a bit on edge âround here.â
âHis name is Benny.â She answers as she hurries after him, somehow getting a very âsuperheroâ vibe from the guy. Something tells her this isnât the first time heâs decided to save an animal and she couldnât help but feel super grateful to be able to catch his attention. She anxiously stands by the entrance as soon as he stepped into the building. But then upon hearing the familiar whimpering of her dog, an astonished gasp leaves her lips the second she found the stranger returning with Benny in his arms. âBaby! Thank heavens youâre all right!â She scoops the Bichon Frise into her arms and showers him with kisses before looking back at her savior. âThank you so much, love! I was so ready to just have a breakdown in front of everyone but you saved my day. May I ask for the name of our hero?â
carolinatorreroballard:
âThereâs enough doom and gloom here to last us a few weeks, someone has to look on the bright side, right?â She shrugged a shoulder with a smirk. âIt truly is amazing to see people come together, though. I wish more times were like this.â
âYes, exactly! Thatâs what I was thinking.â Rosie beams brightly, completely glad that she isnât alone on this one. Of course itâs still better to acknowledge the fact that people are going through hard times at the moment, but it wouldnât hurt to sprinkle a few optimism here and there. âAt least it shows we can all set aside our differences to work together. I take it you were not that affected by the storm?â
gemmalacroix:
Gemma didnât mean to give off such a dour vibe. It was just difficult to wrap her head around the scope of damage within her neighborhood. On the day she left town she had a place to live and possessions that meant something to her. Now, itâd all been reduced to shattered glass and fallen chunks of plaster. The girl certainly tried her best not to let it completely affect her mood, though. Slipping into a somewhat brighter smile she gave a quick nod of her head. âI have a few ideas in mindâ friends or my siblings, to start. Iâm hoping the rebuild will go faster than anticipated but, if not, I guess Iâll look for somewhere more permanent when I have to.â
âWell, you know what they say-- every problem has a gift for you in its hands.â Rosie decides to share the words she proudly lives by. Though, that may be easy for her to say given the fact that she never had to go through the things the other woman is currently enduring. âPerhaps this is a sign from God to start doing some changes, yes? Maybe this area just isnât for you.â While her words are but mere wishful thinking, Rosie figures to at least guide the young woman into looking at the brighter side of things. Thatâs the best she could do after all. âAnd if you need any help, Iâm always willing to lend a hand. Iâm Rosie, by the way.â And with that, she fishes out her calling card from her purse and hands it over. âSee? You just already earned a friend!â
elliothclt:
âThatâs not necessary,â he said, maybe a bit too forcefully. Oh, this was treading eerily close to situations he tried to avoid - favor for a favor seemed like a pretty standard thing, but Elliot wasnât quite living by the same rules everyone else was. At least not yet, that would all have to be learned. âI appreciate the offer, but, Iâm just happy to help you get your dog back.â And, in an odd way, he kind of was. Maybe he was warming up slightly to other people. Wasnât that a concept. âHere goes nothing.â He nudged the door open carefully, not wanting it to collapse on him - or on any small animals. Fishing his phone out of his pocket to use as a light, he turned back to the woman. âIâm sorry, what did you say his name was again?â
âReally?â Rosie asks in slight doubt. Thatâs a first. Based on experience, men always expect something in return after helping her out and she never really minded as long as theyâre polite about it. But after realizing how genuine his tone seems to be, she finally nods with a pleased smile gracing her lips. âIf you insist, then. Goodness, you really are too kind.â And with that, she takes a step back behind him as soon as the door has been nudged open-- already not liking the mere sight of shadows looming inside. She stretches up a bit to peek over his shoulder until he turns back to her in which she steps back a bit. âOh, itâs Benny.â She reminds him. âAnd please do try to use a light friendly tone when calling him so as not to intimidate him.â
bellalacroix:
âOh, yeah, sure. My dog does this too. Iâm practically a trained dog whisperer.â Bella smiled, going in halfway to the building, making cooing noises. âCâmere, baby, come on. Letâs get away from the dark building.â She smiled and the dog saw Bella, and Bella picked it up, smiling. âOne dog delivery.â She giggled as she returned the dog to her owner. âSee. Told ya.âÂ
âOh, thatâs amazing! Thank you!â Rosie says excitedly as she takes Benny in her arms to shower his face with kisses before turning back to her savior. âAre you really a dog whisperer? Because I am so impressed! Iâve always wanted to know how that works! Iâve only ever seen it on Youtube.â
alaricgrayson:
Looking at the building that the woman was pointing towards, he nodded and smiled slightly in her direction. âNot a problem, Miss.â As he stepped closer to the building, he pushed through the doorway before looking back at her. âWhatâs your dogâs name?â He steadied himself awaiting her answer before continuing.
âBenny, but somehow he chose the most impeccable time to not respond to that bloody name at the moment. He gets really quiet when heâs scared.â Rosie sighs in slight frustration, recalling how long she had been standing by the entrance, calling out her dogâs name. âThank you so much though. If you could try calling out his name in a very friendly tone, he would definitely appreciate that.â
jasonkovacs:
âUnfortunately not.â He was trying not to let frustration take over, especially in front of other people. But damnit, if he wasnât pissed. "I mean, I could probably go back to work, but I think most of the spare beds are taken.â He glanced at the other girl, shoving his hands in his pocket. "Yea, Iâm Jason and I used to live here. Not as long as some other people have, so Iâm not sentimentally attached or anything like that. I know from experience that itâs going to suck for a whole lot of people now that this thing happened. No oneâs fault really, but man, life just gets put on hold and I hate it. I usd to work in Insurance, and all that boring deal. I wonât talk about it âcause it might put you to sleep if I continue.â Â
âI donât believe any kind of work is boring as long as you enjoy doing them.â Rosie says with a smile, hoping her optimism will easily rub off on him. Though, she has to admit (to herself) that she will most definitely be at a loss if he does start talking about his former work in Insurance. Not exactly the kind of ice breaker one should use to meeting new people. âBut since you said itâs a former job of yours, then I guess you didnât enjoy it as much. Oh, and Iâm Rosie. If youâre interested, I could lend you my guest room... or my art studio, even.â It probably isnât wise to lend a room to someone she just met but she couldnât think of anything else to help those whose houses have been destroyed.
madelinebuchanan:
âThey do indeed. Well, Iâll be leaving him in good hands then.â Madeline smiled at the woman, before retrieving the bag of treats from her and following the brunette to the entrance. âNo worries, I can only imagine he will be right now. Iâll be right back with him.â Turning her phoneâs flashlight on, the blonde ventured slowly into the dark building, feeling the chills at the eeriness of her surroundings. âBenny?â She shook the bag of treats before taking one from it, and illuminating the room as brightly as possible with her phone. After searching a few rooms, it took a few more minutes before she found the dog curled up in the corner in the room at the end of the corridor. âItâs okay,â She crouched down and petted the dog, giving him a treat. âGood boy, letâs get you out of here.â Madeline scooped up Benny in her arms and didnât switch off her flashlight until she was approaching the entrance again. âThere he is, I think he was a little frightened since he wandered so far into the building. But other than that, heâs all good, and I think he missed you.â She set the dog back to the ground, allowing him to sprint toward his owner.
Rosie smiles and nods her head before bending down to scoop the kind womanâs dog into her arms, giving him a scratch behind his ear before turning back to her newfound companion. âPlease be careful!â She calls out after her as soon as she finds her now venturing into the building alone. She feels somewhat bad for bothering her with a favor she could have so easily done herself but sheâs still tremendously grateful that she had managed to get her attention and not some jackass who would probably laugh at her dogâs demise. As every minute passes by, Rosie finds herself growing more concerned and a chill runs down her spine. What if thereâs actually something lurking in the shadows? What if she unknowingly made her walk into a trap? Just thinking about it nearly brings tears to her eyes before she suddenly catches sight of the womanâs flashlight from afar and a bright smile crosses her features. âOh heavens, youâre alive! Thank goodness!â She exclaims as she carefully puts her dog down to welcome Benny into her arms, tears still ending up falling from her eyes. âMy baby! I thought Iâve lost you! Donât you ever run away from me again!â
noah-j-devin:
âIâll use my flashlight too then, so we have plenty of light. It will barely be dark at all then.â he said, trying to reassure her. âThatâs fine. Honestly, if he knew me at all, Iâd just go in myself. But Iâm worried that Iâd only scare him more if I tried to grab him myself.â he explained, turning on the flashlight on his phone as he began to lead the way into the building.
Rosie tries to think of her way out the young manâs plan but unfortunately, what he just said makes perfect sense. She will just have to overcome her fear of the dark if she truly wants her baby back. âO-Oh, okay. Letâs do this.â Out of desperation, she curls her fingers onto his jacket behind him as she tries to look over his shoulder as much as her height could allow her.
officerxaanya:
Aanya was on a break from work wanting to get some coffee when she saw someone waving to her. Approaching the woman and hearing what has happened to her dog, she nodded. âOf course Iâll help you get your dog out of there,â she said with a small smile. âThankfully, I always carry a flashlight with me so youâre in luck.â
âGoodness, you just made my day!â Rosie exclaims in genuine relief, grateful that not only is the woman willing to help her, but she even has the necessary stuff for it. âHeâs right over here.â With a polite wave of her hand, she guides her to the building nearby before pointing at the entrance. âMy baby Benny ran straight in there. Heâs probably so scared right now.â
nathanxyoung:
âBenjamin Barker? Sweeny Todd fan?â Nathan chuckled softly, moving closer to the building the doorway in front of him. âHe ran this way?â He frowned very thoughtfully, trying to see if he could catch sight of the dog.
âYes! Named after Sweeney Todd and the English landscape painter.â Rosie smiles brightly at the manâs recognition of the name, probably getting a bit too excited as she follows him to the doorway but trying her best not to get too near the entrance. âBenny!â She tries calling out but no luck. She sighs. âYeah, he ran that way. But please be careful.â
adelaideday:
A part of Adelaide felt silly for being so upset when this was just⊠It was just a place full of things. It wasnât her daughter or her friends. She should just be happy that they were alright. On the other hand, a lot of her friends were some she had met in this very place, or shared a lot of fond memories with her, and perhaps that was what hurt the most â That that place didnât exist anymore.
When she saw Rosie, it only made her feel it that much more. She was a customer she now considered a good friend after all. âOh, itâs⊠Itâs okay,â she said, trying her hardest to be strong. âThank you so much though. Iâm really happy to see you. Are you okay?â
Rosie could tell her friend is trying her very best not to break out in tears in front of her and she wishes she wouldnât mind as much because itâs only making it harder for her not to cry as well. Not only is her favorite place destroyed because of a natural disaster, but one of the people she cares so much about just watched her dream reduce to nothing but a pile of mess.Â
âIâm okay...â Rosie answers with a slow nod, her chest tightening at the lackluster smile gracing Addyâs lips. And apparently, itâs enough to bring tears to the artistâs eyes as she quickly wipes them the second they rolled down her cheeks. âOh my god, Addy. I really am so sorry. You deserve better than this. This shouldnât have happened...!â
