You know, Cells at Work BLACK has made me wonder about some important things:
How does the Brain Command Center handle hormones and chemical neurotransmitters? Not just for arousal, but for things like dopamine hits, when the host body does something pleasurable, or oxytocin when bonding with loved ones?
Does the Brain command center even have the vaguest idea what’s going on outside of the Host Body? Do their eyes have some sort of window into the optic nerves? Or are they simply just running the autonomic systems of the body, with the workings of the voluntary actions of the host a complete mystery to them?
How does pregnancy work? I’m well aware that the fetus will have an umbilical cord that will let the mother share precious nutrients, oxygen, and antibodies with the baby, but how will this be portrayed? Will the developing new “host” have its own staff immediately? Will there be veterans and adult cells from the mother coming into the “construction site” and helping train the immature blasts, such as whoever gets the designation of AA 0001 or U-0001 and so on and so forth? What does happen to the egg cell and sperm cell once fertilization occurs, do they just symbolically die and fuse together as a new human being, laying down the foundation to a new world?
How does the body understand arousal cues, fear cues, and relaxation cues? Can it actually “see” something like a dangerous animal, or does it pick up on the senses without knowing exactly what it is that’s causing it, and automatically responds?
