Okay so one thing I love about Knights of Guinevere is the lack of cynicism about Guinevere herself. Despite the fact that she's an android and not human, despite the fact that she seems stuck in a pre-programmed fantasy world, despite the fact that she is the face of a marketing empire, Guinevere herself is not evil.

She's everything we were told as kids that princesses are meant to be. Friendly, graceful, wanting to be there for and protect children. She is a princess in need of rescue who tries over and over again to rescue herself while waiting for her knights. She is just as abused under the corrupt system in place, if not more so. Yet she still fights to protect the people who are trying to save her when she is broken. The surveillance system used by the corporation over it's citizens is something she uses to fondly remember the children she befriends.

I just love that despite how scathingly and rightfully this show criticizes Disney as a company, it never points the finger at the audience for loving princesses and wanting to indulge in fantasy, and the creativity that brought these fantasies to life were done so out of genuine love.

And anyways, that's why I'm crying over an animatronic park princess from cyberpunk horror cartoon on a Saturday morning, have a good weekend everyone.

dana confirms that frankie is canonically cis, she just has a lot of masc nicknames

people start saying dana is transphobic for this

additional context that people were mad at dana for not making willow "look more blasian" when she had a black dad and a korean dad, dana eventually had to confirm the black dad was a stepdad and willow was never intended to be blasian, so it makes sense that she would want to confirm things quickly so people don't get the wrong idea for a long time. people ignore this and decide her rush to confirm frankie is cis (when she was DIRECTLY ASKED, if i may remind you) means that she hates trans women

people also decide that dana is transphobic because a trans woman voiced the asshole boss (a cis man in the show afawk). trans woman actress literally has to come out and say she enjoys playing characters like him and likes being able to voice both male and female characters

dana puts out an apology saying that she didn't mean trans headcanons for frankie were bad, only that she was not written with the intention of being trans. she has previously stated this is her stance on queer headcanons so this is not a surprise from her

dana blocked people who were throwing parasocial fits over her confirming frankie as cis. everyone decides this means that she IS indeed transphobic and her apology means nothing

why the fuck is the knights of guinevere tag 95% discourse?? no, two characters being stated to not be a couple, and one character being calmly stated to not be trans(in response to a question asking, not out of the blue), does not make the author a terf, fucking hell? yeah I see how frankie could be read as trans and yes it'd be cool if she was but. like. a. a singular masculine cis woman existing in a story is not transphobic. why is everyone saying that they're going to quit watching the show and that dana terrace is as bad as jkr and that there's nothing queer in the show at all when. She's not, at least as far as we're aware. People are saying it's transphobic of her to say Frankie isn't trans– people were interpreting her as trans bc her shitty boss called her "Franklin" during a confrontation, which was interpreted as him deadnaming her. Dana confirmed that this wasn't the case, and Frankie just had a lot of masc nicknames. Instead of saying "Oh, okay, glad she wasn't getting deadnamed onscreen," people decided this meant she secretly hated trans women

iirc she also had to say before the show even aired that Frankie and Andi weren't a couple but it was cool of people to ship them anyway. And well. The internet just takes the tiniest things and makes them a problem
