“we live in an uncaring universe” yeah dude and I live in an uncaring house. and I shit in an uncaring toilet. but do you touch an uncaring lover? do you comfort an uncaring child? do you guide to sleep each night a cold and uncaring self?
please hurry up in reblogging this I wanna jorts it before someone puts it in one of those heartwarming tiktok slideshows
i was like 'what could jorts it possibly mean' but as with many things clicking the original post immediately clarified the situation
before i go to bed because im ill again i just briefly want to say that white people's adoration and frankly over the top love of (certain) animals taking precedence over their care about people of color is disturbing and needs to be dealt with. saw an insta reel today of a girl who adopted a cat whose owners were abducted by ICE and the comments were just filled with "omg the poor cat!" "i feel so bad for the cat!" "omg it probably thinks it was abandoned!!!" "omg the cat!!" okay and what about the owners. what about the people who owned that cat and loved it and will probably never see it again. the owners that like no one knows the names of? the owners? like the people that owned the cat that got kidnapped so suddenly their cat was just left? what about the people. the owners. like remember them? people who are living their worst nightmare?
or the way yt people will prioritize animals in gaza over the humans that live there. or the way yt people will prioritize animals over like real human laborers farming in unsafe and deadly conditions for their agave or whatever vegan trend of the month. or the way yt ppl will tout ecofascist talking points in favor of animals and against human beings. or the way yt people try and push universal veganism instead of food sovereignty and dismiss the culinary traditions of indigenous groups. and and and
This is what I would do if I was Count Binface and I actually won:
Resign from office on the grounds that I only ran for the bants, triggering a further by-election
Immediately announce my candidacy for the by-election.

hey WHAT THE FUCK ARE THESE THINGS
Genuinely, one of the measures that's stopped book banning the most when districts implement it, is having the would-be banners fill out a form that demonstrates if they've read the book or not. Like where they have the summarize the plot and characters and do a mini book report and give a review. It stops them in their tracks. This is why in my high school, every time someone wanted to ban a book it ended up going nowhere. There was one where a conservative student wanted to ban the manga "Legal Drug" for having a marijuana leaf on the cover, then got the form that required them to actually read and either balked, or read it and realized it was not pro-drug at all. (The other one that reduces book bans even further is "requiring the would-be banner to be affiliated with this actual school in some way, either by being a student, faculty/staff or a parent of a child at the school" because the vast majority of bans are "activists" with no affiliation with the school who just travel around trying to do this in districts all over the U.S. IIRC a few years ago someone crunched the numbers and just 51 parents were responsible for all the book bans that year nationally. 51! In a country with 50 states, with over 300 million people total!)
Laws like this indeed do a lot to stop fascist book censorship. They can also help legally protect librarians from getting fired or harassed for keeping books on the shelves! Some states like Rhode Island have already passed these laws. If you're in a blue state, look up whether you have laws like this on the books. MAYBE your state is trying to get one passed right now, like New York's Freedom to Read bill. call your state elected officials to voice support for it.
Came across this art installation, Liza Lou's Kitchen, at the Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC. It's a kitchen made of tiny glass beads, that artist Liza Lou did, taking 5 yrs. to complete, from 1991 - 1996.
My favorite part is the sink.

Sorry but it's not complete without...
yesterday i had a nice southern teenager call me "ma'am" and then look at me and go, in a well-meaning tone, "uhhhh, if you go by ma'am. sorry if not." and i had to be like yeah man ma'am is fine. appreciate you being inclusive though. i could almost see the little warning pop up in his UI-- hold up! people with blue hair often have pronouns. are you sure you want to address this individual with a gendered term?
stop calling it a girl dinner and call it by its formal name: Fend For Yourself dinner in an ingredients household
