Hello! I'm RunWithScissors, or just Scissors.
This is my main blog that I will primarily use for my art and other things I like!
You are 60% water and every lake, river, pond, swamp, creek, and ocean you encounter wants to reclaim it desperately. Be careful out there.
Good, I hope it haunts everyone about to enter a body of water so bad that they wear a life jacket. 🙌
Every single person I knew (past tense) who has drowned was "a strong swimmer." Water in the wild does not care how good you are at swimming.
I mean this with all due respect:
You are not going to pass a skillcheck against a rip current once it has you.
Waves will not bow to your physical prowess no matter how impressive.
Shock does not care that you used to be on your school swim team.
If you hit your head, being good at swimming isn't going to turn you face-up while you're unconscious.
You may be unable to return to shore. Rescue may be unable to find you quickly.
Scheduling this for when weather starts warming up. Be careful swimming this summer
I work in Healthcare! Drowning is very common, especially for kids, even when there is family present. They just don't notice.
Drowning is not a splashy event that causes a scene like in the movies. It is often a quiet killer. Please wear a lifevest and please watch your kids. Also please get young children in swim lessons VERY early!

I've found if you're an artist or storyteller of any kind (not just visual art) and you struggle with creating art solely for the validation and engagement you receive from others, your best course of action is to join a DnD campaign.
All of a sudden you are spending hours of your life constructing a story with a small group of people and at times it will consume your subconscious. You will make so much art about it. You will invest emotionally in it. The nature of RP means it has the chance to touch you deeper than any other piece of media, and guess what?
Only maybe 6 people in the world know it exists. And that doesn't make it any less special. And all of a sudden, you remember how to make art and stories for yourself again
I have spent actual HOURS trying to find a reference or image of a 3-corner pirate hat from below. I.e. someone is wearing the hat and looking down on the camera which is lower than them. I have found images from EVERY SINGLE ANGLE except from below. I'm going to explode. At this point I feel the need to
A: download a 3D model and rotate it myself
B: purchase a 3-corner pirate hat and take some pictures

Just finished TOTK!! As you can tell by all my most recent art, the zelda hyperfixation has officially chained me down.
Heres my TOTK Zelda WIP sketch!!
I'll probably actually finish this one (as long as I evade The Horrors)
I've been going back and studying the fundamentals again and it's been seriously helping.
My Gerudo character for a Zelda DnD Campaign I'm in!
It takes place in the world of Breath of The Wild, before The Calamity. Our first session is this Sunday!

Because I don’t need ten ideas when I’m stuck.
I need one. THE one.
I’m not saying there’s only one way to write, but when I’m stuck, I go for a walk in the woods until the answer comes to me. Not ten answers. THE answer. The answer to how to tell the story I want to tell, in the way I want to tell it.
Art takes time. It takes mistakes. It takes courage. And we’re devaluing it by just trying to make products as quickly as possible.
I don’t want to have a book. I want to write a book.

Quick concept art from a short comic that I may be writing soon??? Very exciting
I understand the general concept, plot, vibe and theme I'm going for. Finding out which direction to take it is what's proving difficult. Hopefully this little project is one I can see completed.
This narumitsu sketch was originally drawn on a sticky note at my desk during a meeting I was not paying attention to

you know even if a homeless person or a starving person is in that position because of their own "bad decisions" i don't care. it doesn't matter. no supposed financial misstep is enough to condemn someone to homelessness or poverty.
Search and rescue teams do not ask if a hiker was properly equipped and prepared before they go out to look for them. EMTs do not ask if a driver checked their mirrors before they take them to the hospital. Lifeguards do not ask if a swimmer made a mistake by going into a riptide before they dive in after them. Judgement doesn't help anyone, including you, the person doing the judging. Just help people. Just shut the fuck up and help people.
people are allowed to make mistakes. we're supposed to. We're human. Those mistakes should not mean dying or being deprived of basic needs like shelter or food.
It also shouldn't mean having to be deprived of things that make you happy, beyond just the basic needs of survival.
