âI grieved quietly because explaining my sadness felt heavier than carrying it.â
Humans were advanced enough with their guns and engines, but then an Elf decided to teach them magic. Rather than pivot to a magical society, they used it to improve their technology.
"You must understand," the engineer continued, "the fact that magic works means that magic is a part of physics! We may not yet understand how words and symbols are able to mediate physical phenomenon, but we can apply it. We can also test it!"
I had left her alone with my introductory magic book for a few years, thinking I would come back to find her casting a weak fireball, at best, with her pitiful mana reserves. The massive vehicle, covered in basic, but effective runes, with its massive mana core taken from a dread beast, was beyond shocking.
The engineer, however, hadn't even registered my dismay, her momentum unabated; "Why, this may ultimately lead to the key understandings needed to finally achieve a grand unified theory! That is, honestly, outside my expertise, though. For now, I can say that pairing magical support with conventional modes of locomotion has greatly increased the capacity and range, while the mana shields can ensure safety like we've never seen before!" She paused, before continuing, "Sadly, the funding and mana cores came with... strings attached," she shuffled awkwardly in the momentary silence, "hence the flare cannons..."
I clutched my head in disbelief, hoping to wake up. She had been just one quiet hermit who showed genuine curiosity. An outcast among her people. Who knew that would grow into something so huge!
Once the council gets wind of this, I doubt I will be able to return home.

fake Goncharov fans donât even realize that Scorsese did NOT direct the 1973 cult classic. he was executive producer. đ€Šââïž
The actual director is Natted JWHJ0715, and they deserve credit!!!
It's Matteo JWHJ0715!!!!! Very talented director (italian mother, license plate father)
@baggebythesea I'd never read about the director of the film before... I wonder if his father is the same car that accidentally ran over George Lucas's foot when he was shooting his Nascar movie.
I tried to read up on Matteo JWHJ0715 back in my gonching days. I've read the wikipedia autobiography, I've read the unofficial biography and I've read the OTHER unofficial biography (which was clearly written by someone with a grudge). I even tried to watch the first episode of self published betamax series "The many faces of JWHJ0715", but had to turn it off from sheer cringe, and thus I know at least two conflicting statements for pretty much every important event in the director's life - including what's up with his surname.
All I can say for certain is that a lot of people in the director's life enjoy spinning tall tales. And quite a few of them hate each other. At this point I think the best way to make sense of Matteo JWHJ0715's life would be to just follow the legal tracks from all the lawsuits.
As for the George Lucas incident - I hadn't spotted that connection myself, but when you mentioned it I started digging, and there actually is a small but persistent rumor that SOMETHING went down between Matteo's father and George Lucas. Whatever it was, George Lucas refused to touch Goncharov with a ten foot pole despite being repeatedly approached about stepping in during the more troubled parts of the production. And Matteo JWHJ0715 himself is stated to have scrapped an entire scene (the bar scene that you can find in the unofficial director's cut from the Antwerpen Film Festival 1989) because someone in the crew joked that it reminded him of a scene from Lucas' THX 1138.
(Oh, and don't even get me started on the Goncharov point and click adventure game that Sierra were working on - apparently just to spite Lucasarts. It never got past the demo stage, but you can find concepts worked into the Police Quest series)
#jts not just âMatteo JWHJ0715's legal tracks you need to cover to get the gist of his life story but his father's as well#that car has been to prison at least twice off the top of my head#not trying to add to the whole 2 conflicting statements about every aspect of his life just thought it was relevant to the convo of his dad#i try to stick to his filmography and filming dates to piece together a timeline and even that has conflicting information#goncharov#unreality
I tried - I REALLY tried to make any sort of sense of Matteo JWHJ0715's father, but it gave me an even larger headache. If anything, Matteo JWHJ0715 seems to have been the white sheep of his family.
Did you manage to dig up anything substantial about the prison stays? All I know is from the Spanish documentary El coche que viviĂł rĂĄpido y amĂł la velocidad (where I really don't trust the fan translated subtitles), and... like, it has to be lies, right? No one can attempt tax evasion in THAT many countries at once, and do it that badly, right?
Also, I'm pretty sure at least three of his so called "lost media" films never got made because - and you will never guess this - IT'S EVEN MORE TAX EVASION!
500 years from now thereâs gonna be some film historian whoâs entire career is built off of searching for a copy of goncharov
With three movies to compare between, I really appreciate how each Knives Out movie explores justice from a different thematic angle, not based on the murder that was committed but based on the cruelty that led to that murder.
In Knives Out, a compassionate, ethical young woman treats everyone around her with generosity, and the people around her repeatedly try to take advantage of her kindness to force her into losing the fortune that was gifted to her by a dear friend. There, justice means that she keeps the fortune and decides that actually, she doesn't have to be kind and giving to people who've proven themselves assholes.
In Glass Onion, a woman loses her sister to a gang of wealthy, successful people who've sacrificed their principles for the sake of ambition and ego. There, justice means that everyone involved will be made notorious: whatever their other accomplishments, they will forever be known for being complicit in the burning of the most famous painting in history.
In Wake Up Dead Man, the church takes advantage of a young girl's loyalty and faith to place her under a lifelong burden and fill her with guilt, shame, and hatred. Justice means helping her understand what was done to her and the women around her, and giving her compassion so she can find peace.
This is cool because it means the movies contradict each other! The compassionate justice of Wake Up Dead Man would be totally misplaced in Knives Out, and so would the toppling-monuments justice of Glass Onion. And because each movie has something different to say, they all stand on their own and feel fresh.
This is also why Benoit Blanc is the uniting figure but never the protagonist of these movies. He's an agent of legal justice in that he's the detective and it's his job to figure out whodunnit, but the protagonist -- Marta, Helen, and now Jud -- is always the character who delivers thematic justice.
It's December and the world is ending and I have not yet loved or been loved in all the ways I need.

fanfiction is a rare gem and a solid, living proof that, in a world of tiktok, influencers and content posting, not everything is about money and going viral. art can still be art just for the sake of the artistsâ pure love, joy and passion for the art they create. fanfic writers write 100k words and more about the characters they love for free. just because they love these characters and the art of writing so much. art is not dead and the world is still beautiful.
shoutout to fanfiction and fanfic writers

Everyone was shocked when the schoolâs snobby queen bee started allowing the shy nerdy freshman to hang around her. A lot of people thought he had something on her, but in truth they just had some mad synergy with one another.

"Whomsoever steals from a dragonâs horde is cursed to turn into a dragon." A desperate, undefended village under threat by an invading kingâs army weaponizes this curse by having all the villagers steal something from a nearby slumbering dragonâs horde.
They said the size of the thing stolen correlated to the size of your dragon. They said the type of thing stolen correlated to the type of dragon you became. But you only wanted to take care of your family, your people, so you kept back. You waited to see what was left. And then realized that someone was needed to organize shifts for patrol and doling out rations, let alone cooking, and that opposable thumbs were in fact better suited for these things, so you held back even longer. It was warm enough to sleep, if you piled in with the baby dragons, and it was safe enough to keep away from the village gates.
But when a secret mission was conducted, and knights slipped in through an old exit gate long thought unusable, you found there was another type of dragon no one had thought about. For you had stolen the role of caretaker, and your village was your horde. Turns out wings or fangs or the body of a serpent werenât needed to weaponize the greatest, most indestructible flame of all: hearthfire.
Detail I noticed in Tangled
Rapunzel gets manhandled a couple times, usually by Gothel (figuratively and literally throwing her off balance), but sometimes by Eugene, like when heâs pushing her into the Snuggly Duckling, pulling her off the table just before the guards come into the pub, or pulling her along while trying to convince her to go back to the tower early on.
BUT, in all of this, Eugene never actually grabs her. Sure, heâll push her along or put an arm around her, but when sheâs on the table and they have to avoid the guards? He grabs Shorty. He pulls her along by holding the edge of the frying pan at some point. And he never does it in a manner that she canât immediately get out of with a single movement.
The point is Eugene drinks his respect women juice and isnât gonna just grab someone and the creative team behind his character almost certainly told the animators âhe doesnât grab Rapunzel, he grabs whatever sheâs holdingâ
the fact that belle and the beast never had a full-length love duet is one of the few things the 2017 remake could have added that would have actually improved the film as opposed to adding two short lullabies and ten minutes of gaston shenanigans, in this essay i will
