Whoās rescuing you?
getting lost in boston is fun because I turned around on a street corner three times and some guy yelled "hey stupid! the bus is that way!" very helpful interaction and accurate insult, 10/10 no notes
one time I walked around a building a couple times looking for a bathroom and this guy went "this bitch thinks she's on a merrygoround, where the fuck are you tryna go? bathroom? one floor down to the right behind the door that says bathroom."
My very first time in Boston. I was absolutely miserable, trying to drag my giant suitcase up a lengthy set of stairs in the pouring rain. This guy who had already reached the top looked back at me with the most pure expression of disgust Iāve ever seen in anyoneās eyes, marched back down the stairs, grabbed my suitcase, carried it to the top, left it there for me, and walked away without ever saying a word. I think about him often.
For the people in the notes going "why is Boston like this": a) the insults are a way to show you have no ulterior motives when helping someone (and don't need to be thanked or repaid), and b) Boston was settled by the Irish
also the Italians. mixing Irish and Italian sociocultural attitudes had the effect of multiplying the Sass Levels by the power of infinity, in the sense that you get all of the clever dry wit of the Irish and all of the bitchy gossipy condensation of the Italians rolled into one very stereotypically overly-friendly American package.
also worth noting that who you are to them doesnāt matter. theyāll talk to strangers like that and will also talk to their best friends like that. theyāre just Like That.
More from the notes:
Oh, no, tsundere isn't the right term because we aren't trying to hide anything.
We're not about to leave you stranded but we really do think you're an idiot for getting yourself into the situation.
Dang, it sounds like Bostonites are my people. Maybe I should move.
What do you mean āchatā is now referring to ChatGPT and not twitch chat? What? What? What the fuck? No?
When I address chat I am speaking to a presumed Greek chorus of real human people shitposting on their lunch break, not a machine that devours lakes to covert electricity into slop.
Idk who needs to hear this but being unwilling to follow orders, and being incapable of following instrucrions, are not the same thing. Your stupidity is not a virtue.
It should be added that peoples' inability to give clear instructions does not mean you're stupid.
Sure, naturally. It's best to consider the ratio here.
If you encounter one lunatic driving the wrong way on the highway, you encountered one lunatic driving the wrong way on the highway. But if you pass five of them in a row, the problem might be you.
I was making a joke, specifically built on how impossible the premise is. If you're driving on the highway and cross five different cars going the opposite direction, then the most likely option of what is going on is that
-> you <-
are the one who is driving the highway into the wrong direction.
I think they were pointing out that highways are rly populated so this may be accurate for you but if I passed by 5 people going the wrong direction, Iām not the issue because thatās only 5 out of the hundreds on the highway
Well, there was no clarification how fast it happens. You can pass five cars in a row in two seconds at highway speeds.
hi. adding my dumb horse to this race. For my europesn cousins.
as someone whose u.s. city has 4 interecions literally 40 meters in the air :
it is stupid, idiotically, impossibly difficult to drive on the wrong side of any major u.s. highway. there are thick concrete walls across 5 lanes and in many cases they (the opposite directions) are not even connected on the same platform.
An on ramp only connects you to the correct direction, you would have to do a full 270° U-turn at at 97k/hr. It would be jarring.
if you manage to go the wrong way, congratulations buddy that's the worst anybody has ever done it
People do the reading comprehension equivalent of this ^ to my posts every single day.
People drive the wrong way on the highway in Massachusetts all the damn time. Seen multiple people going the wrong way in rotaries too. Thereās a reason why every entrance or exit ramp on a US highway has many signs saying āWRONG WAYā facing in the opposite direction that one is supposed to travel on it. Those signs didnāt post themselves.
A lot of US America is a constant refrain of āDonāt tell me what to do!ā with bridges of āwhyād you let me do that?ā
Itās a combo of oppositional defiance and the reading comprehension ability of a childās flip-flop.
you have to dress in this style for the rest of your life!
(you do not have to follow the beliefs associated with the style if that style has associated beliefs. The wheel curse does not affect anything like that.)
Do you like it?
yes!!
it's okay I guess
no
NO.
I dress like this already

āI donāt care if men benefit from feminism, they shouldnāt have to benefit from feminism to support itā okay, but they do, though. everyone benefits from feminism. you donāt live in a hypothetical, you live in the real world where feminism has real material benefits for the men in your life. so are you gonna take that in stride and move forward, or are you gonna keep pitching a fit that feminism not being Girls Onlyā¢ļø means itās tainted.
fuck it I will make this my Disability Pride Month Request: if you are able-bodied, or just unfamiliar, look up the prices of things. Look up what life-sustaining medication costs, look up what good manual¹ and any power wheelchairs cost, look up what corrective surgery and accessible vehicles and home meal delivery services and service dog training and special dietary restriction food costs. and look up how much money is available for people who can't work.
how many months of government support does it take to afford something like a power wheelchair if you're someone who needs one to get out of bed? how much expense is incurred while saving up for that, making sure you still get food, cleaning, other appointments while you're saving up? is it enough to pay rent? is it enough to still have nice meals, streaming subscriptions, a new video game? is it enough to help family or friends cover emergencies? are there resources available to help with dating, girl's nights, family events if you can't do it all yourself? how in demand are those services, how far in advance do they have to be reserved, how much do they cost?
I've had a few posts about disability get relatively well-shared at this point, and there's always an element of surprise in it - like, what do you mean there's subscriptions, what do you mean it's that expensive, isn't there something else? - and while I understand why, it would really mean a lot if people who don't know about this stuff took the initiative to find out just how bad some of this shit is on their own time
¹ and not just the folding ones on Amazon, which are still expensive, but which I can say from experience are also really uncomfortable and not suited for full time use
Just watched Saturday Night and holy shit Dylan OāBrien channeled the fuck out of Dan Aykroyd which is really hard to do when someone is still alive.

If the (English) ship name for Kinji/Kirara isnāt Lucky Stars then what are we even doing?
Hey. Why isnāt the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isnāt that fucked up? Does anyone else think thatās absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! Thatās a big deal! Iāve never thought about it before but now that I have, itās ridiculous to me that thatās not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why donāt we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
Itās July 20th. Thatās the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. Iām ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and Iām going to have a goddamn potluck. Youāre all invited.
Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this
Hell yeah moon holiday
Ooh coming up we should celebrate
PITCH: We call it Moon Day, and then every 7 years when it falls on a Monday, that's an even BIGGER deal and we call that Moon Day Monday and go absolutely apeshit about it (the next Moon Day Monday is in 2026 so we have a couple trial runs first)
MOON DAY MOON DAY MOON DAY
moon day is 20th July!!!
Scheduling this a day earlier to remind you all and myself about the Moon Day tomorow!
Happy moon day to all who celebrate
This is your reminder to prep for Moon Day on July 20th.
OH HEY, THATS TOMORROW
MOON DAY MONDAY!!
I am trying to work on a fic, damn it, stop autocorrecting Mahito to Manitoba.
"Stop scrolling and please help me spread the word, because if I've landed on your page you're most likely either a black woman or someone who cares about black women and the simple phrase I'm about to share could help save a black woman's life.
Doctors are to black women what police officers are to black men. That may seem controversial but I believe it to be true and I speak from personal experience.
If you've seen this TikTok you know that a 2016 study showed that 50% of medical students and residents thought that black people couldn't feel pain the same as white people.
And we learned from this video that because of a 1999 study, to this day, there's a black correction factor for the creatinin levels in black people's kidneys, meaning we're less likely to recieve a kidney transplant if needed.
So if you go to a doctor, feel you aren't getting proper treatment or they refuse the treatment you've requested, say to them the following:
I will need you to document on record that you are refusing the treatment (or medicine) I've requested, and the reason you are doing so."
This works. I have used it in other situations. If medical staff have to document and take responsibility and be on the hook legally for doing shady shit they behave much differently.
If you werenāt already going to spread this advice because black women are at risk, then spread it because itās applicable to everyone else as well, including you reading this.
But particularly women, and especially black women.
