We’re back! Sorta... Kinda...

For a while I (Bo), had been away from the project. I initially left because I couldn’t manage the project anymore and needed a break while I focused on other life stuff, and the project started to fizzle and die after that. Talking with the other mods, as most of us are all still friends after meeting through this, we aren’t reviving this project. None of us can really manage this massive collaborative project now. However, the passion for RWBY and the canon we created together is still very much there. So, while we will not be doing a massive rewrite anymore. We’re going back to creating fics and fancoms at our leisure, and this will be limited to the mod team now as friends.

We want to thank all of our members who did such a wonderful job on the project. You’re commitment was amazing. We’re sorry we won’t be working with you anymore. Another thank you to everyone who applied. From what I understand people were still applying to this project for a while. Thank you for your interest, we’re sorry we won’t get to work with you. A final thank you to the fans! You all were so amazing and it inspired us to keep going with the project for a long time. We hope to see you still in the future, we’re sorry we couldn’t develop this to it’s fruition.

We’ll be changing our name from rwby-rewrite, I’ll make another post when we do to show the change. We’re keeping all of the old rewrite posts as well so don’t fret! You’re still very welcome to send in asks about rewrite canon. I will be maintaining the blog mostly, with some help from Ray and Jack here and there. Connor has opted to manage our twitter. We hope you’ll enjoy our content in the future and we will see you soon!

(It might be a bit until we update the Members Page, so just a side note, the people participating in our rebranding are Bo, Connor, Morgan, Ray, and Jack.)

What if Qrow has a beer belly in a rewrite? It would work in a similar way to Spider-Verse, in which his beer gut is more exposed when he’s not doing anything and shrinking a bit when he fights. Not with abs, but to show that he’s still in action?

This was sent months ago but I just have to ask. Why? Why on gods green ass earth did you send this? In what realm of existence was this deemed rational and decent to you?

If this response sounds outlandish, please know this is the 5th or so beer belly ask we have received. Don't get me started on the feet.

Most everyone quit or moved on unfortunately, while the passion is still there for some of us we don't have the energy to continue running this, we may make the lore docs we had planned public soon though if anyone has interest in continuing this project

I think the magic particularly died when one of the ex members of the project started sending people to join the server after their distancing from us, which had been admitted to by a few people who ended up being removed, no idea why they did this or what they were trying to gain but keeping surveillance. Or it was the members who decided living together wouldn't cause drama (spoiler alert: it caused drama. oopsie.) Which eventually resulted in.... 4 of the most active people ditching the project? One main artist left, hi i did the icon art, and one writer, a few lore fellas, and a couple other artists who arent really sure what they need to draw or how the story is going bc the project directors are nonexistant now.

So.. yes? I'd consider it our first death, but knowing how passion can come in waves and volume 9 may spark some hope, it probably wont be our last

This is likely very late, but I actually hadn't heard of Clara before!

While we've already redesigned her first volume apparel, we may just give her an unexplained makeover for v2. A fashionista just wants to try out new looks sometimes, aint no one gonna question her bc shes a bad bish!

Are you at least going to change Jaune to already having his Aura unlocked (or at least, at the threshold) so he's not just the inexplicable sole exception to "it takes years of training to unlock one's Aura"?

(And I'm not joking, look up the latest interview with CRWBY, they LITERALLY singled out Jaune as the sole exception to the rules of how Aura normally works.)

We're likely going to go with "Unlocked, but untrained/lack of control due to no guidance" though that isn't set in stone yet. Being one sibling of *many* probably made it hard to get focused training, but he likely wont be an exception to any set rules. At least, not without some kind of explanation this time around

Have you redesigned Velvet?

We've gotten about halfway with her design notes (Taller than coco, lanky, maybe shorter/curlier hair?) And some simply sketches, but beyond that we dont have her solid design finished yet (hence the use of her in-show design in the hanukkah post)
