I donno how popular rwby is over here on tumblr but I've always been interested in redoing all of rwby, so as a start here's how just by changing colors I'd fix Winters outfit, nor because she wasn't slay she was but her and Ironwood start an unfortunate trend of making white the color of Atles instead of tge color that Weiss is meant to represent, it should be am accent color for anyone else, I'll fully re do her and others how I would've done them instead of just a re color, " but she didn't have eye shadow before " SUE ME OKAY SHE NEEDED MORE RED IN HER DESIGN AND IT SLAYS OKAY
One of many reasons why I think Mistral should have been the time to really dive into Silver Eyes and the history behind them is because of Greek influences for that Kingdom.
Greek mythology leans heavily into the idea of predetermined fate. Whether it is destinies ascribed to humans by the gods' machinations, the mechanics of actual literal Fates or the way the plays would portray the said myths and the role of the chorus there, there is a lot that can be said about the very concept of inevitability.
Hell, even Pyrrha's last words are about destiny. Pyrrha, the Champion of Mistral, who perished from fate ascribed to the Greek Hero she is inspired by. And it was a question by another character hailing from Mistral.
Now, sure, Mistral isn't just Greek. It's also Nora's home. A character based on a god in Norse Mythology, another mythology heavily about predetermined fate. Oh yeah, it's also Ren's home. A character based upon a story where searching for agency and free will is the key. Chinese mythology is also pretty big on concept of fate or predetermined paths.
And then Adam also came from Mistral and left for Mistral, which means Blake also has ties to Mistral. Two characters representing Faunus fight for their rights.
It's almost like there's a bunch of characters connected to concepts of destiny and agency that all are supposed to converge upon this Kingdom!
And here's our protagonist. A girl obsessed with heroes and idolizing her mother as one. A girl with a legacy, as we found out at the end of V3. A girl questioning her worldview after what happened, feeling like she's always too late to change things, to save people.
And it's not just her. Blake should struggle with her inability to change things no matter which path she chose. Yang should struggle with her aimlessness and longing for that spark that drives her sister.
Why wouldn't such a protagonist and her friends deal with themes of fate, inevitability and free will when she comes into a Kingdom like that?
What is Destiny? What is fate and what is free will? Why not actually ask those questions in the Kingdom characters defined by them like Pyrrha and Cinder are from? Why not ask it in the Kingdom Raven escaped Ozpin in search of free will to?
It just baffles the show does basically nothing with such a crucial location that everything in the first three volumes was leading to. It seemed like a no-brainer direction to go with thematically and it's the first thing I decided about Mistral for the rewrite.
Because just thinking of what could have been still hurts.
In hindsight the way they handled Mistral should have been the show's canary in the coal mine.
Hello me, make sure you read through this whenever you feel lost when writing your rewrite of Rwby, we are taking this seriously, remember that, we can't bitch out of this, we are going to do this no matter what. But this will take time so don't force yourself into writing too much, we want this to be made with love not obligation.. otherwise we are just going to come off as ungrateful assholes.
Let's begin with the cast starting with-
The characters (main/side cast + antagonists)
The cast -
Ruby Perrault Rose
Age: 16→18
Sex: female
Aura color: red
Semblance: “rose ricochet”. Ruby has the ability of transforming into a cascade of rose petals and achieves speeds up to mock 2- though it is more draining on her aura the faster she goes. She can also shift in and out of this form while still in motion, for any normal person this is extremely stupid because you'll be hurtling without the safety of being a cascade of rose petals, which only transform back to you after you stop moving, but we will later see how Ruby has mastered her semblance up to this point.
Weapon: crescent rose (a weapon of her own design made with the aid of her uncle Qrow, which can shift between combat scythe and a high impact sniper rifle.)
Background: Ruby is very much confident in who she is at the start of the story. She is Ruby Rose, a rather decent huntress to be (she says she's a prodigy whenever she feels like being cocky. Though she only does so on rare occasions.. usually when her sister isn't around to tease her) and someone who is dead set on becoming a huntress just like her mother, father, uncle, and soon her sister. She has managed to understand her semblance up to a point where she can shift in and out and use that time frame between shifts for her fighting style. However her confidence will eventually be shaken over and over again until she must build herself back up as not a huntress, but a true hero, and in all of that she as well must learn how to control her new found power in her silver eyes. Yet beneath it all, deep in her very soul, there is a.. very painful feeling of not being enough, even at the start and this is due to he relationship with her mother, while barely remembering her time with her mother she still feels the impact her mother left, on her father, on her sister, even her uncle but Ruby doesn't fully know how to feel. And hearing how much her father and sister miss her mother.. Ruby soon felt as if she was just.. a reminder of what was.
Weiss Wilhelm Schnee
Age:18→20
Sex: female
Aura color: White
Semblance: “glyphmancy”. Weiss can manifest strange shapes known as glyphs which grant a variety of abilities, especially when mixed with dust, she can also use her glyphs on her allies, granting them advantages they might need in battle. There are the standard white glyphs which have the ability to summon foes Weiss has slain, however it drains a chunk of her aura to summon it, meaning she will be more vulnerable during combat. There are her black glyphs which work as traps, stopping enemies in their tracks physically, letting her attack as much as she can, however the black glyphs have a second function, any momentum the target had before being stopped will resume after a minute, catapulting them, as well as adding any momentum Weiss places upon the glyph or through damage she dealt to her opponents, however once times up Weiss suffers from a lag, leaving her exhausted for a time. While those are her only options without dust, she can infuse them with dust to create unique reactions.
Weapon: myrtenaster (a rapier forged for her by her family.. technically by her father, who may have secretly implanted limitations upon it) this weapon has a revolver chamber in the place of its cross guard, instead of bullets it uses the elemental properties of dust to deal a variety of effects.
Background: the family name of “Schnee” is synonymous with the word “oppressor” nowadays and Weiss hates that, she has grown to want nothing to do with her father's illegal practices and wishes to take him down, however she doesn't have the power yet, while she may be a Schnee the ones who hold her family's resources is her father.. and her mother who she has a strained relationship with. And without those resources, Weiss doesn't have enough funding to pull an investigation against her father and the board of advisors her father has erected. So while she could wait to inherit the company and throw them out, she instead takes a different route, huntresses and huntsmen being the most prominent people who defend against the Grimm tend to be very popular, especially with companies, as well as have high authority in court so long as they believe the person they are accusing is participating in illegal practices.. with a major risk to the huntress or huntsmen of losing their license if the accused is innocent. Weiss began to scheme, become a huntress and gain not only sponsorships but also the authority to lead a coup against her father and remove him and his board from the Schnee dust company. All in the hope that when he is out, Weiss can make her company a much kinder entity, to both the lower class of atlas, and the faunus who her family has oppressed.
Blake Gabrielle Belladonna
Age:18→20
Sex: female
Aura color: black with hints of purple
Faunus trait: ears of cat before later developing a cat tail and fur covering parts of her face, and her arms after accepting her heritage fully.
Semblance: “shadow step”. Blake has the ability to create after images of both herself and her teammates, these after images can perform simple actions such as grabbing and throwing, with these shadows also has the unique ability to see through their eyes if she concentrates. However as all semblances do they drain aura, and while Blake's semblance doesn't drain a hefty amount, with a clone being rather cheap if it is not given an action, shadows that perform an action require a little more Aura, and seeing through a shadows eyes is even more expensive. Add that with the fact keeping these shadows constant passively consumes aura, Blake must be extremely careful with her semblance because small losses of aura can stack up quickly.
Weapon: gambol shroud (originally a simple sword wielded by her great grandmother who started the white fang, Blake has modified with a pistol, as well as attaching a tether that Blake can run her semblance through to great a shadow finger which pulls the weapons trigger)
Description: faunus by themselves are divisive, with the amount of types there are and how their traits behave, this subspecies of man is already not loved due to how different they are, but when it comes to Blake and her mixed heritage, her mother as human and her father a cat faunus, Blake feels as if she doesn't fit in, in either world, especially considering her father is the leader of the faunus’s “Kingdom” menagerie. Blake has developed a feeling that due to her heritage she can't fully understand her father's people, however she winds up meeting a person she once called her best friend, the adoptive son of her father's apprentice. This boy named Adam wound up becoming fast friends with Blake, seeing her as she was, a fellow person. Adam at the time was someone would call a good person however as they grew older and her father begrudgingly took up the role of the leader of the white fang once more, Blake saw Adam delve into a world of violence, serving as a member of the white fang, fighting against faunus traffickers and trying to cripple organizations who had oppressed the faunus, at first there was almost no casualties, all under the order of Blake's father, “do not take any lives, we fight, not slaughter”. However, during a mission gone wrong which Blake was never given the details on, not only did her father leave the white fang, but Adam was branded with the symbol of the SDC… this changed him. Blake later joined the white fang against her father and mothers wishes and was appointed to Adams group by the new leader, Sienna Khan. However the more missions she took, the more she saw how far Adam, and the white fang was falling. On one train heist in particular she winds up abandoning the group, cutting her team and Adam from the rest of the train which was headed straight to vale. She would quickly go into hiding, fearing the consequences of being a deserter, she would eventually decide to attend beacon academy, not to hide, but to try and find herself, to find a new purpose. Unbeknownst to her, her past and her heritage are still hot on her trail, and soon she will have to accept her role as the future leader of the faunus, and what it means to fight against oppression.
Yang Southey Xiao-long
Age:18→20
Sex: female
Aura color: bright yellow with bits of lavender
Semblance: “Red hot”. The more damage Yang takes the stronger she becomes as well as modifying her aura to be similar to the feeling and appearance of flames. If Yang takes enough damage she enters “dragon rage” in which her aura takes the shape of a dragon that fights alongside her with the dragon being named “dandelion” because the head reminded Yang of one… however this ability will only come when she fully embraces herself. However this burns through her aura not because it consumes it but instead due to how much damage her aura needs to heal, leaving Yang physically drained if she takes too much damage.
Weapon: Ember Celica. Two bracelets that when Yang presses a hidden button in each transform into two yellow gauntlets that are mixed with a shotgun, as Yang can load in shotgun rounds that are fired from a rotatable barrel, which allows Yang to propel herself if she is mid-air.
Background: If the Xiao-long family is known for anything, it's dedication to their own and to their self-improvement. Yang is constantly seen training, working on her technique alongside her and her sister's father, as well as working out to improve her physique- she takes much pride in her beauty and strength, especially her hair which, don't mess with it if you want to live. But outside of that Yang tends to think about her family and friends above all else, especially her sister, making sure that Ruby knows that she will always have her back, as well as trying to push her to socialize with others and make friends.. however there is one slight issue when it comes to Yang.. well a bundle actually, most stemming from her relationship.. with her blood mother. Outside of her explosive temper in general and when it comes to her hair, Yang struggles with the fact that her mother by blood, walked out on her and her father, but to Yang, it was primarily her. This caused a deep fear of abandonment and not being strong enough to protect those that matter.. causing her to break sometimes, which is seen in when her lilac eyes turn a deep crimson. This is Yang at her worst, and the part she is ashamed to have. But it is also her in her most powerful state.
Jaune Dimitrius Arc
Age:17→19 before time jumping to 39
Sex: male
Aura color: Sapphire blue
Semblance: “Aura synchronization”. Jaune has the ability to mimic other people's auras as well as his own aura into objects. This allows him to flow his own aura into other people by mimicking their aura and unknowingly opening a metaphorical gate that lies between people's auras, allowing his to flow in and refill his allies aura reserves, however there is a unique effect found here, Jaune when he is much older can track people by the trace amounts of aura they leave as well as even mimic people's semblances.. to a lesser degree (such as being able to mimic Ruby's semblance but only being able to go at ⅔rds of the speed of mach 1, still fast but slower than Ruby) however as expected, the flowing of his own aura into others and mimicking others semblances leaves his aura almost depleted, it would hit 0 if it wasn't for his pool of aura that he has in reserve.
Weapon: crocea mors (a family heirloom, said to have been taken from the king of vale by his trusted advisor who would later betray him. Crocea mors while originally the sword later gained the shield.. however it is extremely simple and outdated by modern weaponry.)
Background: Jaune.. is a coward, at least that's how he view himself compared to his family, while the arc family isn't world famous, it is still a family of renowned In Mistral.. however for Jaune that legacy made it.. it made it difficult to be proud of his own achievements. Jaune could not fight, and originally he was going to continue the new family business of being a chef and running the family owned restaurant in mistral- which explains his talent in the kitchen- however Jaune felt hollow. He loved cooking and he wanted to live up to his family but to him, he didn't exactly find his purpose in cooking, so he decided to be a huntsmen.. however he never went to combat school, he knew the basics, weaponry, the grim variants and their tactics, he even knew a little bit about aura, but knowing was different from acting. And Jaune could not act like a huntsmen, but he did know one thing, how enrollment transcripts work. he learned how to fake transcripts, so he faked his, but they were extremely poor in how they were made and if it wasn't for the headmaster of beacon deciding to take a gamble, Jaune would have been caught, turned away, and never allowed in an academy ever again. So now here he is, on his way to Beacon after stealing his family heirloom… however his fate while starting out as very unheroic and outright illegal, will lead him to many choices, he will meet the one person who he considers a best friend, he will meet a woman who pushed him on the right path, but eventually his story will end with him at peace, as he finally earns the title of huntsmen.
Nora Rymr Valkyrie
Age: 18→20
Sex: female
Aura color: bright neon pink
Semblance: “Thunder-powered”. Nora has the ability to absorb electricity. It simply boosts her aura and increases her strength.. until Nora found a way of using lightning. Nora can harness all the electricity she has absorbed before releasing a powerful blast of electricity.. or in certain cases such as when she upgrades her weapon, she can turn that electrical burst into a rail cannon.
Weapon: magnhild (a combination of a grenade launcher and a Warhammer, Nora can load in grenades filled with a variety of dust- mainly fire and electricity that she puts in the same grenade casing, gods know how many times that exploded in her face when first creating her weapon- and either fire the grenades while its in launcher form, or automatically firing them when in hammer form where it fires from the head of the hammer the moment it makes forceful contact with anything)
Background: Nora.. well she's Nora. She's strong in emotional fortitude and especially in strength- Yang STILL remembers losing to her in those arms wrestling tournaments they went to when hanging out- but she's also… well she's extremely loyal, especially to her friends. This stems from her life in the country part of Mistral, In kuroyuri village. Nora never knew her mother, she died when Nora was born and her father walked out before Nora was even born. She was originally living in an orphanage before running away where she became a.. well it's harsh to say but- a rat. Living off food she stole or the kindness of those in her village. However she would meet a boy who was more kind to her than anyone else ever was. Ren, the young boy practically dragged Nora into his family's home, and he and his family were extremely generous, Nora would share dinners with them, would be welcomed in whenever she knocked on their door, she was treated with such kindness. But above all else she was treated to a food she personally considered the symbol of friendship. Pancakes. Nora would wind up being happy during those years… until her and Ren's village was raised to the ground by a Grimm. The beast destroyed their home and killed Ren’s family and every other person there. Leaving the two both orphans and both homeless. The two would become vagabonds, staying by each other's side, as Nora swore to herself, that she would become stronger for everyone she cared for, she would become strong enough to ensure no one would ever go through the pain she felt. Eventually the two would be found by Peter port, a prior huntsmen and a now at the time teacher at beacon academy, he wound up helping the two into the school and letting them live there.. in secret, however the moment they were found, It was actually by Ozpin who actually got Nora and Ren training in a combat school before eventually offering them into his academy.
Pyrrha Myrmidons Nikos
Age: 18→19 (before dying)
Sex: female
Aura color: a almost burning Vermillion with traces of Oliver green
Semblance: “palladium”. Pyrrha has the ability to manipulate and control metal, this is NOT magnetism. The only reason people and Pyrrha assume it is magnetism is because Pyrrha first discovered her semblance when wanting to grab a can opener. Pyrrha can control metal by extending her aura to the metal, effectively making it a part of herself. She has such an extreme control over metal that can make it change shape, however she only assumes it is magnetism and has never tried to experiment since beyond what she can magnetize.
Weapon: Milo (a triple change spear and shield, extremely rare and extremely expensive. The spear can shift from spear, to sword, all the way to a rifle.)
Background: Pyrrha.. never wanted her fame. She at first hated it and wished she never was such a prodigy. However as she grew up she realized it was.. beneficial. It was that game that got her sponsorships which helped pay her way into beacon, instead of her family having to pay for it. But outside of that, Pyrrha just wanted to be normal. To have a normal life and have friends instead of corporate brats pretending to care about her. To have people in her life outside of her parents that were genuine with her, perhaps that was why Pyrrha went to beacon, she did want to be a huntress but above all she wanted to have peers, people who wouldn't treat her as special and as a person.. and maybe that's why she was so cold to the Schnee girl. But what she never expected was to actually have someone look at and not see some legend.. even more surprising to have a team full of those people and someone who was a fellow prodigy like her. She never anticipated making friends with Nora, Ren, Jaune or Ruby but when she did, she was actually happy. And it's those people who now get to see the real Pyrrha, the girl who does strange things like read comic books, or in Jaune's case, talk with her about all the strange cereal trivia- she thought she'd be bored out of her mind but it was actually really interesting. She made great friends and actually felt normal for once.. she even- out of the blue- found someone who she fell for. She finally gets to experience being normal… shame it will end with her ashes. But so is the will of destiny.
Lie Xu-Wei Ren
Age: 18→20
Sex: male
Aura color: soft pink and forest green
Semblance: “sensory nullification”. Ren has the ability of tapping into a person's senses both physical and metaphysical, as long as he has physical contact with someone he can shut down one of their senses, most commonly emotions due to how Ren operates.
Weapon: “storming lotus”. (A Dou that can transform into a shotgun with double bayonets, he also has bullets filled with both lightning and wind dust.. though he doesn't really use the lightning for combat, it's more for.. "something else")
Background: Ren grew up having to learn how to control his semblance as unlike most children who had it unlocked by their parents his semblance was already unlocked and automatically began to nullify but since Ren was not grasping anyone the first person to ever experience his semblance was himself as he remembers the fear of being this fear would later affects how he operates as it also gave him a deeper appreciation for his senses and his emotions. However due to run circumstances he grew to have a very close relationship with his father. His father was a veteran and suffered the loss of his right leg. Yet Ren's father helped him understand how to master his someone's and how to stop it from automatically affecting others. This time with his father wound up meaning much to Ren as a child. After Ren mastered his semblance, he would later come across a girl who was as he put it “particularly stubborn and refused to move when I tried to help her”. That girl being Nora. Ren didn't know why but a part of him didn't like the idea of anyone being without a place of comfort, perhaps it was due to what his time with his father meant to Ren. But regardless he still refused to let Nora suffer, so he wound up dragging her to his home and always making sure she was cared for. However when their village was raised to the ground by a grim, for the first time in Ren's life he used his semblance on both himself and Nora to nullify their emotions. After the attack Ren became a lot more on edge at first, being extremely careful not to let his emotions show, as to his still young mind there was a possibility that his own fear could lead that grim back to him and Nora. He admits now that the idea was ridiculous but at that time it made sense. However now after meeting professor Port and later entering beacon academy, Ren will slowly allow his emotions to flow out again, however once he does he must face some of his own feelings… especially the feelings he has when it comes to Nora.
Oscar Baum Pine
Age:16→18
Sex: male
Aura: oak brown
Semblance: “Seeds of the soul”. Oscar's semblance is peculiar as it allows him to communicate with wildlife and connect directly to the souls of others. Allowing him to converse with the person's true self and understand them on a deeper level.
Weapon: That old song (originally Ozpin's cane, Oscar can use his aura to activate the secret function of the cane, or more accurately its semblance “clockwork”. Which allows Oscar to perceive time slower than others and move quicker than he could before, however this is extremely draining as Oscar must funnel his aura into the item to activate)
Background: a simple farm boy, Oscar is one of the few privileged souls to live in an area that grim refuse to enter, so Oscar never fought any and thus has no battle experience. Oscar however is soon thrust into the fight against the Grimm as the young man is possessed by the eternal Spirit of beacon's headmaster. Oswald Ozpin. Ozpin at first is cryptic and Oscar finds it hard to converse with him, add that with the encroaching merge between Ozpin and Oscars consciousness, Oscar and Ozpin at first don't get along well, but the moment Oscar unlocks his semblance he almost instantly taps into Ozpin's soul, as the headmasters memories become Oscars. Including the memories the headmaster is ashamed to have. Oscar will face many truths, but only fate decides if his soul crumbles or not.
Ozma or “Oswald Ozpin”
Age: “25→26” (in truth his age is unknown)
Sex: male
Aura color: forest green
Semblance: “distortion”. Ozpin can distort the space around him, such as distorting it to summon an item that already exists (so long as he can hold it) or to teleport by distorting the space around him to where he moves his place from where he was to where he wants to be. However doing so requires him to push his aura to the brink, draining it based on how big the item is or how far away the place he wants to be is.
Weapon: that old song (an item of his design to where he used his magic to give the item its semblance.)
Background: the seemingly ordinary yet extremely intelligent headmaster of beacon academy, however in truth he was- if not still is- the most powerful warlock of the old world, the emerald warlock, Ozma.
Ozpin is gifted with magic to the point where he can change another's semblance or seal someone's aura and semblance permanently.
However Ozma hides secrets, and one he is ashamed of.
Before the old world fell, Ozma had fallen in love with a woman, but when he died for the first time the woman he loved raised hell against the brother gods, while he never had the full story he knew his love lost the fight, as in attempt to join him in the afterlife, his love plunged herself into the pits that made the monsters called Grimm.
His love had become the Grimm queen and her already ruined heart grew cold.
Ozpin knows that his love is the being he must fight, but while his shadow army believes he has a plan to slay her.
All Ozpin wants is to help her heal… may his foolish heart be the thing that stops the fated end.
Qrow Laura Brawen
Age: 39→41
Sex: male
Aura color: black with red swirl
Semblance: “flowing calamity”. Qrow has the automatic semblance that depending on his mood people of his choosing will always experience bad luck (though due to his own misunderstanding of his semblance it only affects him due to his subconscious). Depending how negative the emotion is, the worse the bad luck becomes, with the most potent being sorrow, which causes something Qrow only calls “deaths storm”.
Weapon: summer harbinger (originally just called “harbinger”. A combination of a shotgun, scythe and one handed short sword.)
Background: bastard son to the head of Branwen thieves guild and uncle of Ruby and Yang, Qrow was almost an exact opposite to his sister, he was laid back, cocky and a little stupid but the most prominent aspect of Qrow is his heart.
Qrow feels on an almost spiritual level, he is practically driven by his emotions, doing things for others because he cares for them, but the man he was and the man he is are vastly different and it has to do with the woman who made him feel love as well as the man he considered a brother in everything but blood.
Those two people made him feel like a person compared to his own blood but when the woman he loved (who would marry his best friend) died, it destroyed Qrow and along with the decay of his friendship with his best friend, he soon fell into a deep depression, and so he turned to the bottle.
This turn revealed to him a secret about aura and semblances, when a person (faunus or human) is inebriated their aura and semblance turn off, which to Qrow meant one thing “no more bad luck”. So he became a drunk, but thankfully, the relationship with his nieces will both keep him stable, and soon come to terms with his grief.
The side cast -
Maria Muerte Calavera
Age: 73-75
Sex: female
Aura color: silver
Semblance: “Requiem Mass” Maria’s semblance allows her to use her aura to create a skeletal outer armor that heightens her already incredibly accurate senses, as well as serving as an exoskeleton. In her later years she's discovered she can push her semblance to not just form armor but an entire skeletal aura construct she calls “Gran Muerte”... She is very extravagant.
Weapon: the sisters three (a trio of scythes each named after someone Maria cared for, from her friends, her family, even her first love. Vida is the first and was named after her mother, its body is painted white and red while its blade is infused with fire dust. Mori is the second and is named after her old teammate, its body is painted in blacks and blues, its blade is sharpened to a razor sharp edge. Renacimiento is the third and is the nickname of her first love, it's the smallest of the three with its body painted in white and blue and is attached to a chain. Maria uses these three for a dance she refers to as "El ciclo de los santos” and tends to switch between them based on which best fits the Job. However she eventually stops using vida and Mori but sticks with Renacimiento.)
Background: Maria is an odd ball as well as having a strange perspective on life. She views life as a beautiful thing but it is not complete without death, she sees both as something important, two facts of life that must be kept entwined, that has led her to not fear death but instead appreciate her life every single day.
As she grew up she had a deep connection with her mother who taught her the culture of her ancestors, primarily their celebratory dance that commemorated the passing of loved ones.
This teaching from her mother caused Maria to grow up wanting to make sure she lived her life fully, so she became a huntress.
If she may boast, she was a damn good one, becoming known far and wide as the Grimm reaper, a symbol of hope that fought back against the beasts called Grimm. She was resplendent and that brought her many teammates and even a few lovers each one leaving an impact on her… until she drew the eye of the bounty hunters.
By the time Maria had become the Grimm reaper people knew her as she had awakened her silver eyes, which only aided her in her work, but it was those eyes that many people in power- mostly those who learned the old rumors of the silver eyes and feared them- targeted her for. So they hired bounty hunters. She managed to kill most of them but eventually, she got cocky and she lost her eyes.
Now she is simply an old woman living in an old friend's barn serving as the strange aunt to a young Oscar Pine, until he and Maria are dragged into the war against Salem as she finds herself mentoring a girl who is almost like her. Fate is a strange acquaintance but she has come to expect nothing less.
Penny Collodi Polendina
Age: 18 → 20 (simulated. Her “real” age is 8 → 10)
Sex: N/A (identifies as female despite being inorganic.)
Aura color: lime green
Semblance: “Gemini”. Penny, while technically not having a semblance can manifest aura creations of a creature she refers to as Gemini. This being takes the shape of a cricket and can multiply by thousands however the more copies the more Aura it drains. Gemini is barely sentient and acts as the male subconscious to Penny's consciousness, offering more direct advice and sometimes trying to help Penny relate to others.
Weapon: strings (a backpack that can transform into an array of swords connected to Penny via linking to her aura. This can also be used along with Gemini to create a diversion and swarm attack.)
Background: Project Eternal Neo-genesis Non-organic Yager. Or P.E.N.N.Y. originally known as project Pandora, Penny is an AI, and an extremely advanced one. She's one of a kind and so far none of Atlas’s engineers have even come close to replicating her creation. This is because Penny, while yes being able to hunt and slaughter Grimm with brutal efficiency, did not have her first objective being kill. Instead her first objective by her father Pietro was simply “live”. Penny is constantly curious of the world around and extremely friendly, she however also tends to not catch onto things as quickly as others can, this is where she unintentionally created Gemini who acted as her friend and guide to helping understand humanity. She would eventually befriend Ruby Rose and Jaune Arc as the three became something of a trio.. however no matter the bonds she has, her fate is sealed, she could love forever, but death will always come. No matter what.
Sun Gokwu Wukong
Age: 18 → 20
Sex: male
Aura color: bright yellow with orange swirls
Faunus traits: a long winding yellow tail before developing 2 extra pairs of macaque ears and fur on his chest and arms.
Semblance: “nimbus”. Sun can manipulate his aura in multiple types of constructs, from an army of aura construct clones, to aura cloud constructs that he rides around like a skateboard, performing tricks and using as a way of tripping his opponents, it all comes down to Sun's limitless creativity… as long as he has the aura for it and doesn't over use a construct, otherwise not only does it become “stale” but also it leaves him in a state of momentary paralysis and exhaustion.
Weapon: Ruyi Jingu Bang! (the exclamation mark is mandatory.) (A bo staff that can transform between a standard bo staff, to a triple segmented staff, to a three handle pair of nunchucks, with the final addition of having a twin shot gun mode)
Background: Sun is.. extra, he enjoys having fun while fighting, he takes joy out of not only battling but also tripping up his opponents, however he's also… really reckless, constantly taking risks, especially with his weapon being a quadruple changer which is not only rare but extremely unstable if not made with caution. However despite all of Sun’s theatrics, desire to style on his opponents, and in general anti-authority sentiment to a lot of the kingdoms of vale, lies a kind and caring heart, while sun does not fight specifically for a group he does fight for those he cares for, it's that desire to aid which lead him to being scouted out for Vacuous many academies. Yet the one person who sun affects the most, is Blake, he helps snap her out of her funk and helps her readjust herself, as well as helping her awaken the rest of her faunus traits, but despite certain romantic tensions, Sun and Blake stay friends as he aids her in the final battle, with all his tricks and charm at full force. So is the way of those who defy fate.
Neptune Triton Vasilias
Age: 18 → 20
Sex: male
Aura color: Sapphire blue with bits of white.
Semblance: “Typhoon” Neptune's semblance is… Astronomical to say the least, pun intended. He can create whirl winds and water-like aura constructs that he can use in battle, even being able to surf on them. His semblance allows him to mimic the very sky and sea yet he rarely uses his power… mainly because he's scared shitless of water.
Weapon: Tri-Hard (a Weapon of Neptune's own making, a triple changing Trident that can transform into a bazooka and a guandao that each use electricity dust. With a horse motif running across each weapon form)
Background: Neptune… Neptune is a jackass, to Sun and the rest of his team he's a great dude, usually treating people fairly but whenever he gets any positive boost to his ego he gets arrogant, which leads to Sun having to bring Neptune back down to earth. However when Neptune meets Weiss- and Jaune but Weiss is the one who has the most impact on him- Neptune changes a little. He and the rest of his teammates split up momentarily after the fall of beacon with Sun going after Blake due to worrying about her, Sage and Scarlett heading back to Vacuo to check on their loved ones… but Neptune? He only had one thing on his mind, during his time at beacon he and the schnee heiress had a… weird dynamic, at first it was Weiss finding Neptune attractive but it soon turned into a friendship, with Neptune seeing Weiss being dragged off by her father so, he follows after her. Neptune begins as a well meaning but still arrogant person, but by the end of his story he becomes someone worthy of admiration… Unfortunately he's terrified of water and is incapable of staying in a serious relationship.
Ilia Chameleona Amitola
Age:18→20
Sex: female.
Aura color: surprisingly it varies depending on her mood but most of the time it's either purple or rainbow.
Faunus traits: at first only the guanine crystals that are spread out through her skin giving it a slight bumpy as well as making it look like she is covered head to toe in freckles. Before later developing a tail and two surprisingly long- almost draconic- horns… perhaps she isn't 100% a chameleon faunus.
Semblance: “hexa-chroma manipulation” ilia has the ability to change and shift the color of her skin, even managing to spread that color shifting through parts of her hair, as seen in her clothes, which contain only one strand each yet still able to be affected. However this later evolves to be light manipulation, creating hard light constructs from the colored light spectrum. This is all thanks to her auras' unique property of being able to absorb and cast light. However the constructs require her aura to take form and the color shifting slowly drains her.
Weapon: Papilion the lightning lash (a omni-directional, omni-jointed Lance that can extend and move however ilia desire, as well as a having a channel for her to focus her aura before releasing as a beam, or coating the weapon in her aura to make it invisible, this weapon also fires bullets of lightning that blast as they are fired from the tips of the weapon when making contact with a solid object. Very volatile.
Background: ilia was always confused about herself and the world around her, due to being adopted and raised by humans, she didn't know why she didn't connect with other humans because for the longest time she assumed she was one because her semblance almost always was subconsciously active and mimicked the skin on her foster family. Until the day her town was attacked by the Grimm, she would wind up surviving due to the actions of the white fang who at that point had sent a few of their agents, including one Blake Belladonna and Adam Taurus, the trio would be friends, with Ilia finding out she's a faunus by unintentionally mimicking Blake's skin tone. Adam and Blake would help her readjust to her new life as she would later move to menagerie with them.. but out of the two they each gave ilia something albeit unintentionally. Adam gave ilia a will to fight through his own headstrong and albeit reckless behavior, and Blake helped ilia discover the truth of herself.. While somewhat ridiculous Blake was the first person who made Ilia realize that she had an attraction for women… however now after Blake deserted the white fang and Adam is growing more and more radical with his actions.. Illia is caught in a decision, stand by Adam and fight for the good of the faunus or follow after Blake and run.. to which she went the middle road, allegiance to the white fang while also searching for Blake. But she will eventually need to choose.. so is the will of fate
Robyn Hereward Hill
Age: 30→32
Sex: female
Aura color: Emerald green.
Semblance: “Birds eye” Robyn's semblance allows her to enhance her eyes with her aura, letting her see things she couldn't at the cost of temporarily going blind for a few seconds, if she uses them for longer than a minute. This lets her determine if someone is lying by peering into their soul, as well as letting her slow down her perception of time to get a better shot.
Weapon: Corvus Perforator (a raven shaped cross bow that can change into a winged shield as well as a sentient mechanical Raven powered by wind dust)
Background: Robyn is above all someone who fights for those she cares for, from her friends to the people of Atlas, however nowadays she lays low wanting to take life easy after the atlas civil war. She keeps in touch with Director Ironwood as the two were old friends back during the war but she prefers keeping things simple… until James called her up one night wanting to talk and from then on Robyn's been “against” ironwood ever since, fighting for the people of Atlas and mantle who are of lower status and being abused by the higher ups of society as she leads a rag tag group of vigilantes- in very bright and eye catching colors- called the happy huntresses… She doesn't personally care about any of the political business nor does she actually enjoy leading the group- usually putting her second in command Fiona in charge for most missions. All she wants to do is do good for her people and just survive. Little does she know she'll have to fulfill a promise her and James struck that very night.
The antagonists -
Roman Alexander Torchwick or “Romeo”
Age: 35→36 (before being eaten by a nevermore)
Sex: male
Aura color: none
Semblance: N/A
Weapon: Madam Melody (a cane that has two primary functions, functioning as both a flare gun, and a reinforced hook that Roman uses for occasions that he calls “an eye for an eye”)
Background: “suave”, “debonair”, “brutal”, “sadistic”, “mobster wannabe” there are many words associated with the Torchwicks, and one specifically for Roman. “Bastard”.
Roman is both arrogant, and annoyingly charming while nowhere strong enough to go toe to toe with a Grimm, Roman is incredibly intelligent.. if it wasn't for how arrogant he is he might have been a rather stand up individual.
People know little of who Roman is, many believe he's a petty crook, including his criminal record. But Roman is as he would put it “An atlas compared amongst children books”.
He is notorious for the disappearances of people, some faunus, some humans, but most are people he personally does not like. As anyone he doesn't like, vanishes, only to be found dead later.
Above all Roman is someone who stays low to the ground, uninterested in grand heists and more interested in “subtle” ways of control when it comes to his current home kingdom, Vale. However soon he will be pulled into the line light, along with his apprentice… may whatever death awaits him be slow.
For a bastard deserves no reverence.
Trivia Juliet Vanille or “Neopolitan”
Age: 17→19
Sex: female
Aura color: soft pink with hints of brown and white.
Semblance: “smoke and mirrors” neo has the ability to create physical illusions that can be perceived by all, these illusions cannot talk and are extremely fragile, as they shatter like glass if attacked or if neo goes unconscious or chooses to remove them. Neo’s semblance is simple but the best part about simplicity? It's easy to adapt with.
Weapon: Hush (a parasol she modified to hold a hidden blade.. as well as the parasol itself has repulsion dust crystals sewn in to act as the perfect shield.)
Background: Trivia vanille, is dead. Neo made sure to bury the girl her family hated, the girl she hated. And neo is what came after, a confident girl who uses her wits and deceit to trick her foes and allies into a web of falsehoods, all for her own interests… but there was one man.. one person who saw through her, and taught her how to be something better than just a petty crook. Her mentor, Roman. While Roman is unaware, Neo views him as her hero, the one person who values her as an individual and trusts her above all others, and while that is true, Neo may be exaggerating just a little. However regardless neo and Roman work In tandem having total faith in one another during a job, Roman handling the business side while neo handles the parts she particularly enjoys, fighting, despite how meek she appears Neo is deadly, far more deadly than Roman ever could be, and she takes joy out of watching the light leave her opponents eyes… but when Roman dies, Neo is forlorn. She survives yes but everything becomes quiet to her. no schemes are concocted, no joy is taken in successful missions… no ice cream runs.. Neo becomes not enraged… but tired, tired of living a life knowing the one thing that gave her joy is ripped away, so she decides that if she's going to keep living… it's going to be for killing the people who lead to Roman dying.
Adam Suzanne Taurus-Khan
Age: 19→21
Sex: male
Aura color: crimson and dark orange
Faunus trait: The horns of a bull before gaining the legs and a tail of one once he is saved by Blake and rebuilds himself
Semblance: “moon breaker”. Adam can absorb any form of energy into any weapon he wields before releasing it as a kinetic wave that deals extreme damage and temporarily causing the sky to go red for in a fifty mile radius to how much force the Kinect wave releases. Adam can use his semblance with any weapon due to the fact this is done by coating his aura around a weapon. He theoretically could do this with his bare hands however the pain mixed in with the amount of aura he'd be wasting healing and when he releases the kinetic wave would not be worth it.
Weapon: wilt. (At first a simple katana that Adam took very poor care of, however after Blake tuned it up, its sheath now has a trigger which usually fires a blank, sending the hilt of the blade flying at the jaw of the unlucky victim that I was pointed at. Adam can use this as a quick draw method to quickly deploy and strike whoever is the opponent. However if Adam loaded a dust crystal or round not only would wilt fire from its sheath but also absorb the energy released by the firing, allowing Adam to get a quick charge at the start of a fight.)
Background: Adam was surprisingly a normal person, he originally had the opinion that humans and faunus are equal since there was barely any difference between them. This was taught to him by his adoptive mother, Sienna Khan. While the two would receive some judgement even amongst a few faunus for the lack of blood relation, Sienna still taught Adam some principles he would try to stick to. As he would grow he would befriend Blake, at first having a small crush on the girl before it changed, to be more of care. However eventually when Adam joined the white fang, they would take a mission to one of the mines of the SDC.. Adam wound cocky and got caught. Before he remembered they did, the burning iron, the blazing scorn from that metal, THE CACKLING OF THOSE GUARDS- THE SCREAMS ADAM RELEASED AS THEY BRANDED HIM LIKE CATTLE-.. Adam.. Adam changed that day, for a while he truly thought mankind was the faunus's equal. That there should be unity… but then he felt the scorn, the hatred of humanity that branded itself upon his face, blinding him in one eye and forever marking him as a human's property- everything became clear.
Humanity was not an equal. It. WAS. FILTH… so Adam had a change of mentality.
If humanity wished to make his people suffer, if they wished to wipe his people off the map, then he would wipe them out FIRST.
However fate has another plan, if Blake has the heart to keep a man she called her friend from falling into being a monster, then perhaps Adam could be pulled out from the hate he was spiraling towards… or perhaps fate truly is cruel and turns even the most good of intentions, to monsters.
James Frank Ironwood
Age: 31→33
Sex: male
Aura color: silver and dark red
Semblance: “heart of steel”. James' semblance allows him to temporarily turn off his emotions, letting his logic take over, with that it allows him to focus if his emotions are going out of control- usually when he has… “episodes”. However this semblance has an extreme drawback. While it doesn't drain aura it does have a tendency to automatically turn on when ironwood is stressed. As well as the drawback that the older James gets the more it will automatically activate.
Weapon: Dorothy (a simple handgun, and seemingly a combo of a revolver and a pistol, with the revolver chamber in truth being a generator filled with lightning dust that James uses when he needs an extra kick. However his weapon also has a magazine with bullets that contain fire dust. This also allows him to propel himself, even more so if the bullets hold gravity dust)
Description: James is first and foremost someone who puts the needs of the many over the needs of the few. Even having a motto “the life of one cannot balance the loss of many.” however that motto is for his council of advisors than for himself. James is a soldier, and after being a soldier in the atlas civil war he had to remake himself, especially with the horrors he bore witness to during the war. He had turned himself into someone who could lead, and when the prime chancellor was overthrown, James was made into the leader of the kingdom, as well as constructing his council, originally intending for it to be both of the lower and upper class of atlas.. however now it has changed, he knows his council is turning to corruption but as much as he wants to change it, he has too many projects that allow them to fight back against the encroaching shadow of the Grimm. So he has to put up with them, however that doesn't stop him from pulling his own stunts. Behind the backs of his council he had asked one of his old war buddies, Robyn Hill, to do him a favor, a very interesting favor, to become a vigilante. While nowadays James “doesn't” condone the “violent acts” (god those high-coats get so uppity when there's a risk of them being revealed for their shady business practices, and wind up losing some lien as well-) of the group known as the happy huntresses, he will always be glad he asked Robyn that favor. But beneath that laid a second reason, a fear that James has. While he technically doesn't have a semblance, he knows what his ability does, and the drawback. It created a thought that terrified James, the possibility that if he can't handle the stress on him, his semblance may activate permanently, and the possibility he may become the one thing he never wanted to be, a monster. So he formed the happy huntresses to form their own rebellion against James if he ever turns, so that Atlas may never suffer under another tyrant. But fate is cruel, so indifferently cruel. As James is destined to fall.
Cinder Charles Fall
Age: 20→22
Sex: female
Aura color: Vermillion and orange.
Semblance: “Glass soul”. Cinder has the ability to turn her aura into glass like constructs as well as being able to manipulate glass, being able to change its shape on the fly, with her most common usages being her glass saber that while technically impractical gives cinder much more lethality, for even it shatters she can send the shards to pierce or stab her opponent. However as Cinder develops her power and becomes more ruthless, she will gain the ability of seeing through glass and even managing to attack through it.
Weapon: midnight. (A pair of twin sabers that can merge into a bow, however cinder has essentially abandoned her old weapon in favor of total reliance on her semblance, and her maiden powers)
Description: Cinder fall, a woman hellbent on being one thing, powerful. Cinder despises weakness, to the point she looks down on others if she perceives them as weak, referring to them as mice. She takes glee in ripping apart her opponents and especially those she views as mice.. However Cinder has a supposedly “justifiable” reason as to why she is such a sadist. When she was young she grew up in a neglectful Foster home, her step mother treated as nothing but a slave while her step sisters treated her like dirt. They would walk all over her and degrade her over and over.. but there was one person in Cinder's life who she cherished, a huntsman, Rhodes, Rhodes was everything Cinder wished she had in a family, kindness, empathy, but most of all, security of the self. Rhodes was confident, an infectious confidence that caused Cinder to ask Rhodes if he could teach her how to be a huntress and if he could be her mentor. Cinder's eyes practically sparkled when Rhodes agreed that when he comes back from a hunt he would come back for her, and teach her how to be a huntress… it would only be years after cinder would find out Rhodes died on that hunt, and this broke Cinder. So in a fit of despair and anger she massacred her foster family and soon ran, ran from everything that wanted to hurt her.. until she met her, the woman of black and white. Cinder would be raised by her and become devoted to her as she grew more and more hungry for power to never be weak again. Such a shame her fate is to end at the blade of a boy she killed, wielded by the girl who would send her to her lowest point, Ruby rose.
Magic: Cinder is the fall maiden, wielding the very season in her blood and calling upon its magic, she can control wind as well as summon the spirits of those she has slain, and force them to fight for her.
Mercury Trismegistus Black
Age: 18→20
Sex: male
Aura color: (originally) grey, (after reawakening his semblance) silver with hints of mint green
Semblance: “wings of freedom” while Mercury originally lost his semblance, once he reawakens it, he now has his full potential unlocked. Mercury has the ability to create wings made of aura on any body part. These wings don't allow him to fly but instead reach extreme speeds up to mach 1. However this depends on the size of the wings, the smaller the wings, the slower he is. However it also means the less aura he uses up. These wings can also be placed on anyone else which grants them the speed they require.
Weapons: Talaria and Caduceus (Talaria is a pair of boots that can fire off shotgun rounds and was named after his late mother. Caduceus is the relic of creation, this allows Mercury to create anything his heart desires, yet most of the time it's used to heal.)
Description: Mercury is.. he's a jackass to say the least. He takes joy out of watching his opponents fall and one upping them, as well as proving why HE is the superior combatant. However beneath that bravado and arrogance… lies mercury's heart and all his secrets. Mercury grew up in a cruel household, his mother always ill, and his father a drunk and a monster. Mercury grew up having to fend for himself most of the time but he did have one thing he held dearly.. his mother. While she was always bedridden he instilled into mercury a kindness. His mother, always telling him to “do good.” And to be a good person for others. However when his mother died Mercury was left with his father, and so began the ten years of hell, his father taking his anger out on Mercury and trying to turn him into a man just like his father.. and he succeeded, before Mercury burned him and his home to the ground one night. Mercury became a vagabond for a while, stealing from many whether good or poor, until he met a girl who would reignite the lessons his mother taught him. A girl named Emerald. The two would become a duo of thieves but eventually they would cross paths with cinder.. and later, the queen of Grimm. However Mercury's fate, while at first set in stone to become just like his father and die a slow agonizing death, has now been brought to question, as now it can be changed.. if Emerald is willing enough to free him from the cycle of hate he is trapped in.
Emerald Hanna Sustrai
Age: 19→21
Sex: female
Aura color: mint green (prior to rebirth) mint green and silver (after rebirth.)
Faunus trait: a tail of lemur before developing opposable thumbs on her feet, similar to that of a lemur, as well as developing fur from her neck to her chest.
Semblance: “lost in a trance” emerald at first has the ability of manipulating someone's cognition by connecting her and their aura's creating illusions, however this was extremely draining and any massive illusions or any on a grand scale would almost completely deplete her aura reserves. However after her death and revival her semblance evolved, she can create not just illusions by tapping into the minds of others and see through them. Letting her see their lives as well as creating a mental space where she can interact with them privately. However this does take the cost of what her original illusions were, but this did make illusions much easier.
Weapon: thief's respite and thief's lamp (thief's respite a pair of modified pistols with increased length in barrels as well the ability to transform into two sickles. Meanwhile thief's lamp is the relic of knowledge, which the elemental spirit takes much interest in emerald as she discovers an interesting ability of the relic, not only does it grant wishes, but it reveals truths and weaknesses)
Description: Emerald is an orphan, her parents murdered by the elite of old Mistral, Emerald had grown up being discriminated against by humans for her heritage as a faunus, and was treated as a runt wherever she went, so she “had no choice” but to become a bandit.. that's where she met Mercury, the two at first hated each other because of Mercury's braggadocious personality and Emeralds distrust of people.. however they still looked after one another once they met, they understood that if they were going to survive, they needed someone to aid them so at first their friendship was more.. mutual usage of one another. However as time went they grew closer, especially as Mercury dropped his dick-ish persona around her. The two wound up becoming a menace to any small towns they were in.. until they met cinder.. Cinder was cunning and slick with her words, she convinced the two to join her side, though both weren't really big fans of the idea.. through the years Cinder and emerald almost had a mentor student relationship, Cinder teaching emerald how to control her powers and subtly implanting loyalty into emerald. And this loyalty will eventually get her killed. Emerald's path is split, she must decide if she stays on the end of man and faunus a like, or if she turns and walks beside those who more and more appeal to the part of her who fantasizes about being a hero… she will make a choice, and she will suffer.. but there is someone whose loyalty she earned who may be brash enough to bring her back. After all knowledge is nothing without creativity.
Hazel Traurig Reinhart
Age: 38 → 40
Sex: male
Aura color: caramel brown
Semblance: “bear the pain”. Hazel's semblance on the surface is virtually useless, he does not feel pain so he usually can fight for as long as his aura is flowing, and thankfully he's been born with a lot of aura. However what Hazel eventually learns is that it doesn't just turn off the pain, it lets him let it out, Hazel can release a burning wave of pain that sears into anyone in a 10 foot radius, and this isn't stuck in a place in his body, it can put from anywhere, and the more pain he receives the more damage it deals.. however, this also means Hazels body undergoes extreme stress and it has put his heart in a weak state.
Weapon: Hans, and Greta (Hans is a twin pair of knuckle dusters with the words “sweet” and “sour” engraved, they release explosive rounds when colliding with a surface, though this also affects Hazel. Greta is his sister Gretchen's old Bo staff that can transform into whip. However most of the time Hazel doesn't use it, and if he does, he inflicts the attacks on his enemies and himself)
Description: Hazel is.. a man of many footsteps. Some were of the boy who his little sister clung onto to protect her from bullies, others were of the coward he feared fighting grim but watched his sister exceed all expectations.. but the last few, are of the man who watched his sister die right in front of his eyes and try his best not to let his emotions lead him to blaming it on those around him. Hazel is the hand to hand combat instructor and is a casual sparring partner with glynda.. although he.. is not a fan of professor people- oobleck however is his drinking buddy, by the moon can that man make a mean cocktail- however.. he's also the second closest to Ozpin, even serving at first as his right hand man, even more than Leonardo. But his trust in Oz begins to waver and Pyrrha Nikos dies during the fall of Beacon because of Oz’s plan.. Hazel had enough. He cut contact with the others and began searching for the woman who murdered Pyrrha, and when he found her.. he lost, he lost and soon was brainwashed into serving the Grimm queen. However his final moments will not be as a slave to the end, it will be fulfilling his desire, “stopping the deaths of more Gretchen's” as he spends his fading life, fighting against the Grimm Queen. For so is the path of the mournful coward.
Arthur John Watts
Age: 49 → 51
Sex: male
Aura color: N/A
Semblance: N/A
Weapon: necessary discrepancy and Wattson (Wattson is a double barreled 20 round revolver that is loaded with homing bullets as well as having a secondary fire that releases a bullet of condensed gravity dust, causing the victim to be ripped apart by the force. Necessary discrepancy is a khatar laced with lightning dust, one stab even if non lethal always dealing a shock to the victims nervous system)
Description: Watts was one of the men who fought alongside ironwood along with Robyn, James and Penny's father Pietro during the atlas civil war, he was the one who upgraded Dorothy from a simple pistol to the gun it is now.
He is also the secondary creator of project Pandora… until he was excommunicated from atlas after his creations became too violent, especially considering he planned on making modifications to project Pandora to make it more… “efficient”.
After a search against Watts, he was kicked out of Atlas, leaving bad blood between him, James, Pietro, and Robyn to an extent.
After that Watts became a vagabond and along with his condescending manipulative and arrogant attitude, he found it hard to find a new home.. until he came across the queen of Grimm.
She wasn't some wild beast, she was a woman, a woman too tired of existence and only wanting to die.
So Watts came up with an idea: he'd promise his aid in “helping destroy Remnant” while secretly developing countermeasures against the queen primarily to save his own skin, not caring much about heroics.
He has no intent on dying but his fate is sealed for when the queen sees through his deceit, he shall be nothing but chow for the hound.
Tyrian lev callows
Age: 35 → 37
Sex: male
Aura color: a vibrant purple with sickly green swirls
Faunus traits: scorpion tail and an extra pair of scorpion arms.
Semblance: “pinch break” Tyrian can create aura constructs in the form of scorpion tails that can shatter the victims aura. Even being able to pierce their soul and potentially kill the victim of the aura construct stays in for too long.
Weapon: queens severance (dual wrist mounted blades that can combine into a blade gauntlet)
Description: Tyrian is.. he is an anomaly. His family is alive and well and for all they know, he's been dead for years.
However even outside his family Tyrian still makes no sense, he was an elementary school teacher but now he is completely different.
From how he's said it he had received “a vision from the beyond” which apparently gave him clarity.
As now he serves his “goddess” the queen of Grimm.
No one understands why he aligned with her- not even emerald- but to Tyrian, it doesn't matter.
All that matters is that he serves his beloved goddess. However, he must indulge in his history.
Tyrian had grown tired of how mundane everything was, everything felt like an infinite loop of nothingness, until he received a message from one of those pesky “brother gods”.
Who asked of him to aid in the killing of the Grimm queen, his old self was foolish to believe that his calling had finally appeared, that he would be destined for greatness.
But when he met with the one who he would call his goddess he was defeated thoroughly, but instead of killing him, she decided to show him the truth from her point of view, and that truth had opened his eyes, gone was the teacher who believed in the lie of grandeur, now stands his true self, the priest of the end! Tyrian CALLOWS! THE SCORPION WHO SHALL PIERCE THE LIES WITH THE HOLY TRUTH OF HIS GODDESS! … He's not embellishing! You just haven't seen it yet!
Salem Abigail Seris
Age: ????
Sex: female
Aura color: N/A
Semblance: N/A
Weapon: N/A
Description: Salem is.. old, she is the Grimm Queen and thus hence the leader and bringer of the encroaching end of man. However, her actions are.. strange. She takes no joy out of watching humanity, she takes no joy in the end she brings. She just seems… to not care. In truth Salem is tired, the fire is gone from her soul and her will to exist is no more. All she wants is, strangely, to die. Nothing on remnant however can kill her- damn be those brothers- so after spending life times of trying to die she decided.. that the only way of doing so was utter annihilation of her own existence. However she was not like this, long long ago back when the brothers still lived beside man Salem was locked in an infinite tower to avoid a prophecy of her bringing utter ruin. But she would be freed by her future husband, Ozma. The two would fall in love and.. she would be happy. Until illness took her husband, and so she begged the brothers to bring him back, and when they called her foolish and refused to bring him back.. she raised an army. She waged war on the brothers, only to be defeated and have her entire people be slaughtered by the brothers. Leaving her the only survivor for centuries.. she would go mad, completely utterly mad, and later she would reform herself, when she threw herself into the pools that would make the Grimm. She would change, but it would be.. wrong. Gone was love, gone was kindness, gone was sympathy, gone was anger, gone was sadism, all of it GONE… only leaving the yearning for love, and the desire to die… so now she loves and has decided to damn the rest of mankind with her, in remnants, longest, suicide note. However.. she will be stopped. Not by the blade of a girl in a cloak, not by one of her subordinates.. but by the words of the man she once loved.. “I'm sorry I couldn't save you then.. so let me save you now.” So is the irony of fate that love is what finally lets the hurt heal.
Magic: Salem has access to magic but it's corroded, now instead of manipulating the natural elements she can corrupt living beings, distort objects into what she desires.. and her very presences can erode the soul of her victims
The magic and semblance (as well as world building) will be continued in a reblog coming soon.
RWBY AU concept: The Cursed Spartan (art by Raze-nix on Tumblr)
Link to artwork: https://razenix.tumblr.com/post/141438316231/dragoondark-knightwhateveryouknowwhothisis#notes
Okay, so this is a concept I’ve been thinking about for my AU that I wanted to hear thoughts on, because I understand that anything to do with this sort of plotline is nowadays pretty controversial, even though there were theories everywhere about this possibility back before Volume 4 released.
So, picture this: Pyrrha Nikos and Cinder Fall have their fateful confrontation during the Fall of Beacon as in canon, with Pyrrha ultimately being killed by Cinder thanks in part to the latter’s stolen Maiden powers. However, unlike in canon, where Pyrrha’s corpse is simply vaporised and reduced to ashes, said ashes are gathered up by Cinder using her powers, with no hint as to what she might plan on doing with them. The rest of the episode plays out as normal, except when we last see Cinder, she’s placing Pyrrha’s ashes in an urn that she takes with her as she, Mercury and Emerald escape from the ruins of Beacon.
Fast forward to Volume 4, where Team RNJR are making their way to Mistral in pursuit of leads on Cinder and Salem, both they and audiences are introduced to a mysterious, Grimm-like servant of Salem known as the Cursed Spartan. Much like the Winter Soldier from Marvel continuity, the Cursed Spartan is an almost-mute, deadly warrior who possesses similar capabilities to Cinder herself after being turned into a partial Grimm, although the Spartan notably lacks both Aura and a Semblance, indicating that they are not truly alive. The Spartan relentlessly pursues Team RNJR as they proceed through their journey, and each time Jaune, Nora and Ren in particular all sense something eerily familiar about this mysterious foe… but they can’t figure out what it is. Dialogue between Cinder and other members of Team WTCH, however, implies that the Spartan was created specifically to break the members of Team RWBY and JNR, although we wouldn’t find out how until Volume 5.
In Volume 5, as Team RNJR rendezvous with Qrow, Oscar, Blake and her allies from Menagerie in Haven (imagine Blake’s Volume 4 and 5 storylines being combined in Volume 4), their efforts to defend Haven from Salem’s forces eventually lead to a confrontation with the Cursed Spartan, where they discover that their enemy… is none other than Pyrrha Nikos. To be more specific, the Cursed Spartan is a Grimm created from Pyrrha’s ashes - while the Spartan doesn’t possess true Aura or a Semblance because she is not truly alive, the Grimm is nonetheless able to retain Pyrrha’s skills and even fragments of her memories, with Cinder (with Salem’s help) creating her in hopes of psychologically breaking the members of Team RWBY and JNR. With this revelation, the heroes find themselves conflicted on the matter: while everyone is shaken by the reveal, some (like Ruby and Jaune) maintain hope that Pyrrha can be saved, while others (such as Blake, Ren and upon re-joining them, Weiss) believe that Pyrrha is gone forever and that the Cursed Spartan has to be destroyed. The Cursed Spartan serves alongside the rest of Salem’s forces in the Battle of Haven at the end of Volume 5, where Ruby and Jaune both separately try to appeal to Pyrrha, but have no success, with the Spartan failing to even recognise them. After Cinder’s supposed death in her fight with Raven, the Cursed Spartan vanishes, and doesn’t re-appear in Volume 6, although she is discussed among the newly reunited Team RWBY.
The Cursed Spartan re-appears in the Atlas arc, assisting Tyrian and Watts as they’re working to undermine Atlas’ defences in preparation for Salem’s assault on the kingdom. Despite the Spartan being confused over Ruby and Jaune’s words from back in Haven, the Grimmified Pyrrha continues to work in Salem’s interests, battling Team JNR again sometime in Volume 7 and having another confrontation with the Ace Ops late in the volume. While Tyrian and Watts use their positions to undermine Atlas politically, Pyrrha commands Grimm forces in raids on Mantle to try and soften Atlas’ military defences, hence the aforementioned battles. Pyrrha’s return also has an unsettling effect on Penny, who’s still shaken by the aftermath of her destruction at the end of Volume 3, while Ruby’s continued belief that she can be saved - a belief shared by Jaune and Nora - starts causing Ren to lose faith in her as a leader figure.
In Volume 8, as Team RWBY and their allies find themselves increasingly at odds with Ironwood’s plan and begin working on their own solution in hopes of saving the populations of both Atlas and Mantle, tensions rise until they (sans Ren) officially defect midway through the volume after realising that Ironwood’s paranoia and increasingly drastic measures are making him just as much of an internal threat to Atlas as Salem is an external threat. Where the Cursed Spartan factors into all of this is at the very end of the volume - while Salem has yet to arrive (this happens in Volume 9 instead), a series of events trigger a three-way battle between the protagonists, Ironwood’s loyalists, and several of Salem’s lieutenants, including the Cursed Spartan and Neopolitan. During this confrontation, Pyrrha faces Ruby and Jaune one more time in deadly combat, and after Neo’s intervention causes Ruby (alongside Nora and Oscar) to fall into the abyss leading to the Ever After, Jaune is forced to kill the Cursed Spartan in self defence, ensuring Pyrrha Nikos’ permanent loss. While he’s ultimately knocked into the void himself - leaving WBY, Ren and their friends to deal with both Ironwood and Salem alone in Volume 9, having to destroy the Cursed Spartan and abandon any hope that Pyrrha could be saved has the same shattering effect on Jaune and Ruby that Penny’s death did in canon, ultimately contributing to both of their mental breakdowns in that iconic scene in episode 7 of Volume 9.
What do you think of this concept? Any feedback/suggestions you’d like to offer! I’d gladly take any constructive criticism, since I’m thinking of incorporating this into my wider AU I’m hoping to put together someday.
