it’s bc im on that damn phone honestly
see every time i see this status i get angry because i’ve played through literally every scenario in rct1 and there is no place where this is a thing. there is never more than one park per map. and in rct2 you can’t make that happen i the scenario editor either. it is not remotely within the game’s functionality to simulate two discrete parks and these games were coded in assembly for christ sake so it’s not like someone modded it in by adding the line “int const TOTAL_NUM_POSSIBLE_PARKS = 2;”. there is no conceivable way this post is anything close to true and even though i know how writing all this out reflects upon me as a person and even though i know exactly how meaningless and trifling of a takedown attempt this is on some random facebook screencap with hundreds of thousands of notes im going to post it anyway because i’m too petty to have any say in the matter
dude it's just politics, it doesn't matter. all it does is shape every single aspect of the society you live in from the second you are born until forever
reblogging a post that says “do it scared” vs actually doing it scared
easy to miss that one of the reasons maternal mortality is diminished so extremely by modern medicine is that modern medicine makes it so much more possible to identify the pregnancies that will die and take you with them, or are otherwise unacceptably high risk. and then discontinue those ones safely, before it's too late.
thought about this because it's so frustrating when people argue that 'dying in childbirth' is a historical sort of event that doesn't happen nowadays (false) and therefore is irrelevant to the legal status of abortion, since it's not a real danger.
except it super is, and i think a lot of people haven't noticed that this argument in addition to simply being incorrect is basically the same as when people say we don't need vaccines for deadly diseases because no one gets those now anyway.
like yeah one reason for that is we vaccinate everybody ffs.
Note: after the end of Roe v Wade in the US, the maternal mortality rate (and the infant mortality rate) are showing clear increases in the states with the strictest anti-abortion laws.
Forcing people to carry high risk or non viable pregnancies to term kills.
"we live in an uncaring universe." sorry the special planet full of beauty and animals and food literally growing out of the ground isnt good enough for you. i guess
For all its faults Tumblr has truly ruined all other social media for me because my friends all have Instagram and are all trying to get me on Instagram more but every time I open Instagram there are like fifteen things screaming for my attention and when I get over myself long enough to start scrolling it's like. Where is my chronological dash. Where is the following-only option. Who are these people. Why are there so many videos. Everyone is screaming at me. And then before I know it I'm thirty minutes into scrolling and I haven't seen a single thing that I actually care about. At least on Tumblr when I see stuff I don't care about I know someone I follow has found a new interest.
How’s it feel to be the funniest person on tumblr?
Controversial take some of u will get defensive at, but there IS a right way to give advice (in my opinion). I recently discovered this when I made friends with my former bar manager, a guy in his 50s whom I’m literally in love with (platonically lol). I frequently ask him for advice, and he doles it out to me freely, but he’s also always like “you have it in you to figure this out.” He’s always like “you don’t need me for this; you have it in you.” He’s always reminding me that I have the capacity and experience and emotional intelligence to work through even the toughest weeds. That’s the way to give advice. If you’re not bolstering your friend’s confidence, if you’re not inquiring about their own thought process, if you’re just caustically cutting them off with advice every single time, I’m sorry but to me that’s doing it wrong.
That’s also why some people feel uncomfortable with “unsolicited advice” bc in my opinion most adults have the emotional and cognitive tools to figure out really obvious situations, and the thing they’re really seeking is someone who will listen to them, lend them an ear, and be curious about their thoughts and feelings. In the case that they genuinely are asking for advice, it’s always important to also remind them that they have it in them, that you believe in their ability and choices. If they’re not there, how can you help them get there? Each conversation should be a means to help them fine tune their gut intense and decision making skills. I’m being serious about this too. This is literally what therapy is. This is why so much of therapy is your therapist inquiring about your thoughts rather than just blindly giving advice and instructions.
Another controversial take, but if someone is just constantly cutting you off with advice, I would evaluate why that is. That is not in vacuum. It says something about their character. This is very situation dependent, but there really is a subgenre of people who just like to hear themselves speak. It’s so valid to ask if they really care about you or if they just wanna impart their pearls of wisdom. I personally wouldn’t take advice from someone whom I knew for a fact didn’t care about me.
The thing about the destiel news meme is that I actually think it's great.
It does let you know that something has gone on in the world. But it's such a short format that it could never even pretend to give you all the relevant information about that thing. It usually provides less detail than the average headline, so it's not actually reporting, it's more like shouting a head's up across a crowded room. Still lets you know that something has happened though.
The very fact that it's a goofy and irreverent fandom meme also serves as a perpetual reminder that using social media to get news is a bad idea. Now that you know something has occurred, go read an actual article from a real source to verify it and get the details. It's an alert system with a format that never lets you forget that alerts are not articles, and that this website is not beholden to any kind of journalistic integrity.
I love it, the comments on destiel news memes are almost always full of people saying that they saw it and then rushed off to go verify the news with a reputable source. Do you know how often more "serious" format news stuff on this site just leaves people complacently certain that they've been given accurate info? Way too often. I wish half as many of those news updates had people commenting that they left tumblr to go double check it.

wait, you mean that by spending decades joking about how schools are disease vectors because children are just naturally disgusting, adults were ignoring a structural problem they had created? how surprising and not at all precedented
