Following Nym’s supposed banishment of Proxy and the other Exclubliss, as well as the awakening of the Nytaer species, peace once again returned to the islands of Arizel...

Somewhat...

While the looming threat of the Ancients’ return had been dispelled for the time being, questions of worry soon arose among the masses, on all islands, particularly Shift Island.

The bustling, fast paced society of Shift City gave way to quickly spreading rumors, of Nym’s connection to the strange Exclus who called them by name, of the nightmarish power that the Guardian seemed to wield, which they’d only previously seen harnessed by their queen.

And most of all, of what fate would befall the world now that fear incarnate had been given form? And by their own Guardian, no less... it was, to say the least, a worrying notion.

Though life returned to its idyllic, tranquil state, the lingering anxiety lurked just below the surface, acquainting the once dreamy world with a whole new realm of emotions...

Only time would tell what this spelled for the realm.

So... what’s going on with Ryubliss?

Well, as you all likely have noticed, we’re pretty inactive here. Very inactive. Practically on unannounced hiatus, which until now may have seemed indefinite.

We sincerely apologize for the inactivity, and now that we have some time, we’d like to address some things.

First off, the last year of course hit hard; right in the midst of revamping/reorganizing many major things with the blog and species, some major issues occurred behind the scenes which decimated our time and motivation to work on the species.

For a while, it looked like we’d never get back to a consistent schedule, with planned events slipping by. And as the months added up, we became very discouraged to return on this project. For a bit, we even considered just closing the species altogether... we couldn’t do that, we couldn’t abandon this years-long project of ours altogether.

After nearly three years of struggling to keep up with updates and events with just a few mods onboard and conflicting schedules, we had to make a decision.

So instead, we’ve decided to OPEN the Ryubliss species, as well as all other Arizel/Ryuniverse species, effective immediately.

We’ve decided to take a step back. You can now make as many dreamfolk characters as you wish! You can choose to celebrate the in-universe holidays any way you choose!

You can also redesign your existing characters, we only ask that you post/submit an updated reference so we can update the database.

We’ll still be having occasional events and releasing canon information/lore on the world, but it’ll be in a much more lax manner.

We’d like to thank everyone who’s been with us on this journey for three years, from the very first iteration in 2018 to now. To those who participated in contests, who sent in fanart and created intricate lore of their own, who supported us even during our long hiatuses, thank you all.

I created this species to share a world and lore that we were passionate about. It wasn’t perfect, as it was my first real attempt to create a closed species, but I poured my heart into it.

And I’ve decided that it’d be easier to share that lore if I opened the species, instead of struggling to create designs and adopts in order to keep up a slow trickle of official characters/lore released.

From now on, the blog will likely be focusing more on the canon “storyline” of events surrounding the guardians, the islands, and the most recent arc, the Nytaers event. Artwork, ask/QnA events, short stories, etc. All to enrich the story and immersion of the Ryuniverse canon!

We’ll occasionally release “official” adopts as well (in that they’re tied to the lore and are automatically approved as canon dreamfolk designs). But feel free to tag us in any of your Ryuniverse artworks and creations!

We look forward to a bright new year for this blog, and many more to come!

Nytaer Awakening

Nym’s furious energy hit Proxy head on. It swirled around the Exclu wildly, before it took on its own purplish hue and coalesced into the form of a strange, batlike being...

Unlike Ryubliss, this creature’s aura gave off an almost malicious aura. It let out a squeaky yelp as its plush body was lowered to the floor. Proxy stared at the creature, utterly confused.

“What is this...?” She was perturbed by the being’s features. It almost resembled a Ryubliss... though in a twisted mockery of what the dreamfolk represented. Proxy scowled and spat, “You created a... a little demon... to haunt me, is that it?”

Nym’s maw split into a malicious sneer. She found herself slipping into her old accent. “Not’s juste this one, dear...” A blinding energy filled the room, packed with pure fear and resent... the opposite of what a guardian should be harboring. “I am’st going to curse you with a new beast... I’m going to give’st you all the suffering you’ve caused my domains.”

The little demon barked shrilly, and Nym raised a paw to point at it, her gaze deadly. “And yours will suffer, too. Yours fears will take form and suffer like me.”

Proxy stared up at her, shaking. She smiled nervously. “Have mercy...” She subconsciously found herself pushing the tiny being closer to her, almost protectively... “We’re family-”

Abruptly, Nym reared up and let out a thunderous shriek.

“Begone! Begone from these islands! Take your wretched demon-ilk withe thee!”

Proxy let out a mournful bellow as she and her curse were swept away, into the night... possibly never to be seen again.

Nym watched as her curse swirled about into the night sky, contemplating what she’d dared to give form to. For the first time, beasts of fear would run amok, now on par with their benevolent counterparts...

Whether good or bad, one thing was for certain... it was the Coming of a New Age in Arizel...

Retribution

After a long and hard-fought battle... Nym finally bested Proxy. She stood over the Exclubliss with a look of contempt and...

Nym’s eyes blazed with furious magic. “Proxy, as Guardian of Shift Island... I hereby curse you with the very same burden that you placed upon me all those years ago.”

Nym snarled, “I hereby curse you with the power and duties of a guardian... of your own worst nightmares.”

Defeat at the Paws of a Friend

Proxy shakily stood, clutching the remains of her smoldering arm. She glowered up at Nym, quivering.

“W-what a dirty trick... attacking me while I’m unprepared... though, I wouldn’t expect more from a coward like you...”

Proxy was cut off by a furious snarl as Nym’s tail flared up.

With all the rage of a guardian, Nym hissed, "You crawled out of your miserable hole in the ground... you kidnapped my friends. And now, you think you can take me?"

She summoned absurd amounts of energy, her fur bristling as she backed up in preparation to charge.

"I've had enough of your games, Proxy."

Blazing with energy, the two furious beings clashed head on.

Some more lore while we work on revamps!

You may have seen these two diseases mentioned before, but this is the first time we’ve delved into them.

Leixosis, overproduction of tears, and Drizlezz, dry eye, are two naturally occurring ailments that many Ryubliss face at some point in their lives.

Some Ryubliss were born with one of these diseases and thus may never be rid of it unless treated.

Cinnamix and Mintberry Cream, two researchers of natural Ryubliss diseases, have studied for years on how to counteract the effects of these illnesses. Now that they’ve found potential remedies, they may be setting up shop soon...
