Détruire || v. Karel and Maria
princessmacedon:
The man’s reply was enough to make Maria’s shining eyes absolutely sparkle. He hadn’t given her a clear answer, but he’d given her enough of one that she did not hesitate to run towards him. “Thank you,” she breathed, momentum carrying her an unsteady extra step or two forward once she had made it to his side.
She struggled to match his pace, but only for a moment before realizing his stride was actually quite easy to match. He didn’t tower over her like her siblings did, but she was quite sure she should have still struggled at least a bit. So then he was…? She looked at him curiously, thoughtfully, and then allowed a quiet smile to grace her lips.
“My name’s Maria,” the little princess replied cheerily, holding her staff behind her as she walked. For a moment, she thought to say something more, but she soon realized there was little else to say. If you took off the ‘princess,’ then, well, she was just a traveling girl. “It’s nice to meet you, Mister!”
Karel paid no heed to the girl’s gratitude; it was unnecessary, thus unimportant to the swordmaster.
The constant smiles and shining eyes bothered Karel – just the kindness she showed him despite it being obvious how he murdered those people. He expected fear, rejection, anger, something that wasn’t unmerited kindness. It was confusing, and Karel wasn’t particularly fond of not understanding things.
“I’m Karel,” He finally gave a response, introducing himself. He might not ever run into the girl again, but he was sure he’d at least remember her.
“What brings you to these parts? You’re no servant of Elimine.” All the healers he met before were Elimean monks and clerics, and she didn’t look like a cleric (her clothes looked too regal).
