school uniform codes extending to what colours you’re allowed to dye your hair, and what piercings you can have and stuff is so crazy. you HAVE to go to school and you’re not even allowed to have pink hair or pierce your nose about it????
“oh it’s to prepare you for the workplace” okay. i don’t think any workplace should be dictating what you can and can’t do with your body either and i think it’s strange to decide to teach children that their body is not their own
I actually loved having a school uniform, and i loved working at a place that had a uniform. It makes laundry and deciding outfits every day so much easier. As a kid I liked certain garments more than others and I was sensitive to tags, fabrics etc. In my personal clothing collection I wanted to wear the same ones every day, and I had a really hard time deciding what to wear frequently. Oh wait that is all still true.
I don't need to show my coworkers who I really am, they aren't my family, they aren't my friends, I don't need to wear what I like on the weekends in front of them. I also don't need to know all of that about them unless we decide to become friends outside of work.
Now that I have a non uniform job i basically bought a bunch of clothes that are duplicates and i pair them off each week into my outfits and have them ready to go, if I don't do this i feel stressed about what to wear and take way too long changing things. It helps, but a uniform is even better because there's still so many garments to choose from it is still possible to not fit in well even following a dress code.
Imagine living in the pre-debit card world. Every time you want to buy something with money in your checking account you get out the checkbook, write the exact amount, hand it over. Balance your book later. That's what picking out my clothes for school everyday felt like when I went to non uniform schools/jobs.
Having a uniform is like tap to pay on a debit card.

all the rights that come with marriage you should be able to have without marriage btw. you should be able to designate a person who can visit you in the hospital regardless of your relationship to that person.
6 hour workday maximum i’m not kidding, if it can’t be done in that timeframe it doesn’t need doing.
this doesn't apply to jobs like childcare
If i worked in childcare and my 6 hours were up i would start putting babies in ziploc bags and shipping them to Turkmenistan listed as endangered fruits and vegetables
A 6 hour workday doesn't have to mean the business shuts down after 6 hours, it means the shift ends. A childcare place could run 24/7 on 6 hour workdays, so long as it was willing to hire enough employees for all four shifts. And your children would Genuinely be better cared for by workers properly rested between workdays.
Everyone in the comments has never heard of overtime or a double shift

Good question.
There’s a quality that certain books/movies/TV shows have that leads me to say, “Yeah, I can see people making fanfiction of that.” It’s something to do, I think, with how tight the story is, how much feels open-ended or like it could be elaborated on.
Something like Breaking Bad, for example, has low squiggability (that’s what I’m calling this quality). It’s tightly written, the characters are consistent, there’s little left to interpolate or extrapolate. Obviously, people DO write fanfic of Breaking Bad, but it still has a low squiggability score. Whereas something like Supernatural has a high squiggability score. Fantasy and science fiction often have high squiggability scores. This suggests squiggability could also be related to worldbuilding and potential for people to borrow a premise or setting.
And sometimes you’ll read or watch something and you’ll say, “Ah, low squiggability,” and then you’ll open tumblr and find out that everyone else seem to think its squiggability was very high indeed.
my high squiggability score demands:
- STRONG character and world introduction
- WEAK character and world exploration
- at least one canonical death that makes you yell “oh what the fuck? fuck you!!!”

I hated episode 3 because it made rhaenyra into the aspects of daenerys i hated the most. Pissing about with the poor, shaking up alliances and creating instability because a commoner yelled at her. This isn't fucking mereen
Where were heleana and alicent even going? They act like they need to go immediately. To where? Oldtown? Why. To Pentos or something? Sounds really safe in the middle of a war. Especially in their finest fancy cloaks with no guards.
