Im so tired of noncon fantasies being defended exclusively from the standpoint of women who fantasize as the victim

I fantasize as the rapist. I like imagining scenarios where someone isn't attracted to me, because I'm used to being treated as an object and it pisses me off. The only fantasy that feels empowering is one where I'm 100% sure the other person isn't using me for their pleasure because they aren't experiencing pleasure at all, because I'm in control, because it's all about what I want and nothing else.

That doesn't make me a rapist, and most of the people condemning rape fantasies have people like me in mind, so it would be nice if that was acknowledged more.

personally I'm annoyed by the socioeconomic conditions that made words like "unalive" necessary but simultaneously impressed by the linguistic adaptations young people have made to continue talking about important things while subject to those conditions and I think if you can't hold both of those thoughts in your head you might just be old man yelling at cloud

Why is this impressive? Is it impressive that The Youth came up with the concept of using near-homophones in comparison to giving up on speech altogether? A language like English already has so many synonyms for each word or idea which convey the same meaning and allow for a wide breadth of expressive choices, this should make it fairly resistant to the effects of censoring specific words. I don't think it demonstrates intelligence to pass over using existing synonyms in favour of creating a silly sound-alike, it's think it demonstrates a very limited vocabulary and disinterest in expanding it. I think it does a great disservice to discussions of "important things" to say things like "sewer-slide" and "unalived" instead of more dignified euphamisms like "took their own life" and "passed away". It's also not very clever from the standpoint of avoiding detection by automated censors; "sewer-slide" sounds so similar to "suicide" that it will be far more easily flagged. I understand the desire to say "the kids are alright, actually" but they really aren't for the most part.

i don't really like it when western mythological terms are applied haphazardly to essentially unrelated ideas. this is a completely lost battle but a lóng is really not a dragon, it is its own thing with only surface level similarities

i especially dislike many works that try to fold all sorts of different mythologies into a single consistent schema because they tend to heavily privilege western conceptions in doing so- see 'dragonology' books twisting basically every mythical reptilian under the sun into the mould of 'a species of dragon', implicitly centring the beowulf-style firebreather as the default from which all other mythologies derive, or basically anything that does worldwide vampire bloodlines

I’m not Christian, I don’t go to church anymore, and my pastor died, but when he was alive I’d sometimes go to his sermons and I remember one time he said “it feels good to hate, but we know that it isn’t allowed, so when we’re told that we’re allowed to hate someone we get so excited that we forget we’re supposed to love”, and if my humble atheist ass might borrow some church talk I’d like to perhaps submit that

Since you are a black proshipper I wanted to ask you what your thoughts was on some of the stances that “proshipping is a white people thing” or “white people are so obsessed with fandom culture because it’s the only culture they have”

I’m white so i obviously can’t speak on this but it feels very, noble savage? It kind of becomes (in my opinion) a deal of “gross” kinks are a “white people thing” because only white people could have gross kinks because POC are above that

That's not what "noble savage" refers to; noble savage is a racist literary trope depicting indigenous people as primitive and therefore Closer To Nature™️

As for the white people thing, there's really not much to say. Black people and poc are part of fandom. People pretending we don't exist in fandom spaces is a whole problem, and statements like that are just them showing their blatant racism with absolute confidence and ignorance

Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as “problematic” in class and our professor was like, “That’s cool, but ‘problematic’ doesn’t really mean anything. It means that the thing you’re describing has a problem, and in and of itself that’s not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else it’s not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like you’re trying to say that this is bad, but you don’t want to say ‘bad.’ Is that right?”

So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the “bad” thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, “I’m uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.”

Once we stopped calling things “problematic” and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, “that’s racist” or “that’s misogynistic” or “ew capitalism gross” out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, “Uhhh... I’m not sure what’s so bad?” and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.

Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I can’t help but think of this professor being like, “Good starting point, now let’s get specific.” I think when we have to commit to saying “that’s ___” it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever we’re claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes it’s art, and it should be full of problems, because that’s what art is.

You are not "ruining" anyone's fun for demanding better for yourself, and anyone who says otherwise can go fuck themselves. Any fandom worth being a part of should have no room for racism in it.

Black people in fandom, you are wanted. You are needed. You are loved and appreciated. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
